If you’re looking for somewhere safe, fun, with very high level of coaching and a great culture Osprey martial arts gym is the place for you. If like me you’re not from Edinburgh (I moved up from London) and you’re looking to build community of your own in the city the gym has that too. You’ll meet a bunch of great people who love to socialise away from the gym too. I was always been very interested in jiu-jitsu but I was a bit scared that I would get get hurt and also worried about my fitness not being good enough so I put off joining a BJJ gym for years to my regret. From the moment that I walked through the doors of Osprey martial arts gym all of those fears and worries went away. The culture is amazing. You get looked after. If you’re thinking about starting jiu jitsu and are a bit hesitant do yourself a favour and come along for a tester class.

My kids have been coming here for years. It’s amazing to see the development in their confidence and discipline while having fun too. Ross, Dave and Willie show great patience with the younger ones and Dav is doing something very special with the older kids. It’s amazing to see the club and members growth, especially over the last couple years. Strongly recommend.

I've been training here for just over 4 years, previously it was at North Merchiston club then moved to its own Gym which is a great spot Main highlights . Knowledgeable coach with classes tailored for both beginners and competing athletes .Wealth of experience at the club with a large proportion of experienced upper belts i.e. purple and above, I feel very safe and it's a good environment to learn in .clean area, floor and gym are cleaned after each session . Additional classes of circuit training and striking, these are very good quality tailored classes which I would recommend even if you are not there for jiu jitsu .Well kitted out gym, with weights and exercise equipment .it's a welcoming atmosphere and very family orientated with a number kids classes on through the week I would recommend highly

I’ve been training here for the last two years, and I couldn’t recommend this gym highly enough. When I first joined, I had absolutely no experience in any martial art, but from day one everyone made me feel welcome, took the time to help me, and made sure I was looked after. The coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping everyone improve, regardless of experience level. Whether you’re completely new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or have years of experience, this is a fantastic place to train. Joining was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Started in this gym in March 2024 and have been with them ever since. The coaches(and and a result the members) are very knowledgeable and capable on the mat at both competing and teaching. I’m originally from outside the area and have trained at a few different gyms over the years and it’s the teaching here that I like. Different themes month to month based upon what the coaches are seeing in the class / when members compete. The breakdowns of the moves so you gradually build up from basics/ fundamentals to more complex moves are just right for me.
