I was working in Stoke-on-Trent for three weeks and reached out to Nick at Origin BJJ to see if I could train while I was away from my home academy. From the moment I arrived, Nick and the whole team made me feel incredibly welcome. Nick has a wealth of knowledge and is an excellent coach. Every session was well structured, technical, and suitable for all experience levels. The atmosphere in the gym is friendly, respectful, and everyone was happy to help each other improve. I couldn’t recommend Origin BJJ highly enough. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced grappler, this is a fantastic place to train. Thanks again to Nick and everyone at Origin BJJ for making me feel part of the team—I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in the area.

Origin is a great place to train BJJ. Everything you would look for in a gym can be found here. It provides a safe and clean environment, with professional instructors who are dedicated to helping students achieve great results. While injuries are not very common at our gym, it's reassuring to know that the coaches are also first aid trained. Nick is a fantastic coach who always makes the effort to help, whether it's on or off the mats. His positive attitude towards coaching creates a ripple effect throughout the gym, creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Everyone is willing to help, especially to beginners like myself, whether it's answering questions or sharing techniques. Overall, 5/5. I would highly recommend giving Origin a try. If you're looking for a place to train, this is it.

Nicholas is a family friend as well as an outstanding Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach. I am an Autistic man. From day one I felt comfortable & accepted at Origin where I quickly began to pick up the finer details of the sport. Lots of competition nearby. Support is always available.

I’ve been training at Origin BJJ for a while now, and honestly, it’s been such a great experience. I was pretty nervous about starting, but the whole vibe there is so welcoming and everyone is genuinely friendly from day one. Nick is an awesome coach, he really takes the time to work with you at your own level, so you never feel out of your depth or rushed to keep up with the more advanced guys. It’s a total judgement-free zone with zero pressure, which makes it way easier to just focus on learning and having a good time. If you’re looking for a place to train without the ego, this is definitely it

From the moment you step on the mats, Nick makes you feel part of a community that blends technical excellence with genuine care. Every belt colour and weight class is represented, with regular visitors from local gyms and abroad ensuring challenges at every level. Nick’s coaching is world class, breaking down each detail so you understand the move and can apply it under pressure. Whether you’re refining fundamentals, working on advanced technique, or building confidence in escapes and guard play, Nick makes progress feel achievable. It is a clean and professional gym, that is also has a dedicated S&C side ran by another top class coach. You get unmatched competition support from the other members too, it makes training here both safe and inspiring. You might even get chance to train with some pro athletes.

I had a few classes with Nick before he opened this gym and I can honestly say, great guy and coach, enthusiastic, welcoming, plenty of room in the gym and I'm always seeing improvement with each visit. Definitely a recommendation from me.

I’ve been training with Nick for approximately three years and his coaching style has been a perfect fit for me: direct, positive and always encouraging. He has a deep understanding of different coaching methods which makes training with him accessible and motivating, no matter your background or how long you’ve been away from the mats. No matter the break, Nick welcomes you back without hesitation. Nick has built a gym that truly reflects inclusivity, attracting members from all walks of life. As someone working in the emergency services, I’ve found his approach incredibly practical. He tailors techniques to real-life scenarios, helping me stay safer on the front line. He even offers a blue light discount and is flexible with coaching hours to accommodate shift work, which is a huge plus. In addition to Jiu Jitsu, the facility also houses a gym, where Dan from Stone SNC. Dan brings an incredible depth of knowledge in both training and nutrition. He’s supportive, adaptable and always ready to offer advice whether you’re coming back from injury or aiming to hit new fitness goals. Since training with Nick and Dan I’ve lost around 10 kilos and feel stronger and more confident both on and off the mats. Jiu Jitsu has proven to be an amazing way to lose weight, stay fit and build practical skills that genuinely make a difference. I Highly recommend this Origin BJJ to anyone, especially those in emergency services or looking to improve both fitness and self-defense.

Amazing facility for both BJJ and Strength and conditioning. Nick Roberts is a great Jiu Jitsu coach, I’ve leveled up massively since working with him. Dan is a very knowledgeable S&C coach with a great program that I’ve been running for over 6 months. There’s great mat space and a ton of high quality gym equipment. Highly recommend

I’ve been training with Nick for ages now, and I can’t recommend him enough! I was a bit nervous about starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but he made me feel comfortable and confident from day one. His teaching style is clear, patient, and encouraging, and he always takes the time to make sure everyone understands the techniques. Not only has my skill level improved, but my confidence has grown so much thanks to his coaching. He creates a great atmosphere in class, making it both challenging and fun.
