Both of my children have been training with Danny for about 6 months and absolutely love going to every practice. The environment is very positive and encouraging and they both gained a lot of confidence in their abilities.

I'd been wanting to take up jiu jitsu for a long time but felt very nervous starting in my 40's with no martial arts background. Of all the gyms I investigated, Ronin by far had the most welcoming culture for inexperienced newcomers. Coach Danny is very professional and very approachable. You learn to dive right into the training environment and you're treated as a peer from day one. You'll learn from Danny and the other coaches and also from the more experienced members. Just as important for me is the KIDS classes. My 6 year old daughter started training and coach Danny is masterful with the kids: patient, encouraging, all while challenging them to excel. I've seen my daughter grow in confidence and assertiveness in the past 3 months while making new friends and having a lot of fun. There's no better training environment than Ronin. Check out a class!

I’m a new member here and it’s like a giant family - Danny and the coaches are super friendly and approachable and they do a great job instructing kids, youth and adults alike. If you’re looking to get serious about Jiu Jitsu/striking, or just get in shape this is the place for you.

Nj Ronin is not only a great training facility for bjj, muay Thai, and other forms of self defense and combat. It is a welcoming community full of inspiring dedicated individuals that welcomes new comers and beginners with open arms and makes them feel wanted and at home. Everyone is willing to help guide you through different techniques and are often open to sharing their own combat styles and why it suits them. The coaches are fantastic and the man running the show Danny is always looking out for everybody and providing them with the knowledge and tools to excel in whatever goals you have for martial arts training. The best part is that even beyond the training everyone here gets along great and the atmosphere that is present here starts from the top on down with Danny and his comforting nature.
I Joined NJ Ronin about a year and half ago and haven’t looked back. I love the atmosphere here and the energy everyone brings every class! Coaches are amazing as well and are very helpful to the new students. Can’t forget the Recovery room with 2 saunas!

I enjoy training at Ronin. It’s conveniently located in the center of hackettstown and the coaching staff is top notch! There’s plenty of classes and variety for you to choose from. Striking, jiu jitsu, judo etc… you can get your training and lifting all in one location! Also, don’t forget to hit the sauna when you’re done! It’s a one stop shop for all your training needs and the best thing is they make it like a family atmosphere. I’m glad Danny and the rest of the crew are around. It’s a great place to be!

Coming to train at NJ Ronin is one of best decisions I’ve made! Being a woman training jiu jitsu can be very intimidating, but the atmosphere, instructors, and other members at the gym create a very welcoming environment that I can promise you’ll love. Danny is a great coach because it’s obvious he cares for his students while still pushing you to become a better athlete, teammate, and person.
Joining this academy was one of the best decisions i’ve ever made. The coaches and members are some of the best people i’ve met, and they were super beginner friendly and patient when I first started. I’ve learned so much in a short amount of time and i’m grateful for the knowledge the coaches have shared with the team. I would highly recommend for anyone trying to learn martial arts.
2024. My family and I have been with NJ Ronin for 7 years now is one of the best decisions we have made family friendly. Everybody looks up for one another. We are in season 3 and we are still growing. Can't wait to see what else is coming. I was looking for a place for my son to learn Jujitsu.. And I don't have the words to explain how much he loves going .. And in the process I ended up taking some classes an stay.. They teach Gi,Nogi and striking.. This gym has such so much to offer, a great variety of classes, culture is excellent, and there is tremendous support if you want to compete in BJJ. The owner does an excellent job making sure that the gym has a very. This is the second gym I've been to, and while I liked my first gym years ago, this one has been the perfect fit for me, I can't get enough of it. I have not had a bad day once here, the training is awesome. Besides being extremely newcomer friendly and having a great culture, I would say the owner's one quality that separates him from the rest is that he's willing to adapt the techniques that he teaches extremely fast. He's still a student of the game as well and he'll go out to other places and learn new techniques and is quick to share them with us and they help so much.
My brother and I have been training at NJ Ronin for years. Its a great environment to learn self defense and make life long friends.

I moved to New Jersey after graduating college and starting a new job. After several months of coming home from work and having nothing to do, I decided to try out a new sport by joining this gym. This was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Danny and the coaches not only provide excellent instructions through traditional and modern approaches, but they also facilitate a culture of camaraderie and peer-to-peer learning. Attending class became a way to learn new techniques while also hanging out with the new friends I have made. Thank you to NJ Ronin and the team for providing me with a new home while away from home.

We can not give Danny enough praise! Our son attended class for 2-3 years and loved every minute of it. 3 years after he last attended class, Danny reached out to us asking about our son and how he was doing and that he missed him. We knew that Jui Jitsu will build character but for Danny to reach out after that many years shows just how great of an instructor Danny is and how much he truly cares about our youth. Highly recommend it for anyone looking into a place for your children!
I attended a class one Saturday at NJ Ronin and was welcomed so warmly by the owner who showed me around the really well equipped, maintained and clean, overall super cool gym. The vibes inside are really fun and their attention to detail is amazing. It did not stop at the interior design. On the mat I felt like I was given individualized attention and pointers specific to me and my game. It really was such a pleasant experience and it’s always appreciated when the vibes are about growth, positivity and fun. They even have saunas! It was a wonderful experience I highly highly recommend and am thankful for my time and hope to visit again soon! Thank you! x

I was traveling to New Jersey for the day, so I decided to visit NJ Ronin for a workout… I was very impressed with the facility, the instructors and the students. The 11am striking class was very well balanced between technique and endurance! The open mat was welcoming to all disciplines, so sparring and rolling rounds were 🔥 I recommend everyone to check out this gym in Hackettstown 🤙
so glad i decided to visit nj ronin. it's an incredibly welcoming community with excellent instruction, and the space is wonderful. in just a few visits, i've gained so much knowledge about jiu jitsu compared to several weeks at another school. while it's a bit of a drive for me (an hour and some change), i can confidently say that it's 100% worth the trip. special thanks to Danny, Jerome and Matt for their exceptional contributions to my experience. looking forward to returning soon! :)
Amazing establishment! The owner and head coach, Danny, is extremely knowledgeable, kind, encouraging, and welcoming. Our kids have been going for a few years and have developed both physical and mental strength and confidence. The coaches are constantly pushing and guiding all students to advance. Superior instruction at an awesome facility! The coaches are all knowledgeable and always ensuring everyone in the class is grasping the lesson, regardless of skill level. I personally returned after years of not training and they made my return easy despite my anxiety.
Getting back into BJJ after being out for over a decade, could have been a stressful experience... but I am extremely lucky to have found a martial arts academy that was so welcoming and accommodating as NJ Ronin is. Danny's facility and members made me feel at home after just a few classes. Everyone is dedicated to improving one's self on and off the mats. The facility itself is clean, very spacious, and allows for recovery (saunas), as well as a gym area with a plethora of equipment. If you are on the fence about joining, take the leap of faith and walk on the mats...you'll thank yourself and be hooked.
This place has grown immensely since it started. From upgrading the fitness section with some of the best lifting and training gear around, to the recovery room complete with two different kind of saunas and a massage chair, the place is legit. Highly recommend stopping by and checking it out.

We enrolled our 6 year old a couple of months ago and she loves NJ Ronin! Coach Danny is great with the kids and his devotion to teaching is evident.
I joined the Ronin family over a year ago and it has been one of the best decision I have made. From day one, Coach Danny’s passion and excitement for the art has fueled my love for Jujitsu. The gym is very clean and offers other amenities such as a well equipped weight room and recovery room with saunas. NJ Ronin is also a Adopt a Cop sponsor, so if you are a Law Enforcement Officer looking for a place to train NJ Ronin is a great option.
I’ve been training at NJ Ronin for a few months and I wish I had started sooner. The building is split into two parts, a nice open mat space for sparring, grappling, drills, classes, etc. The other half is a spacious and fully stocked gym with all of the equipment that you could ever need. There’s also a very nice sauna room to aid with recovery. They offer a great variety of classes and there is plenty of open mat time as well. Most importantly, the people here are great and I’m glad that I get to train with them regularly. Everyone here is humble and shows up ready to learn and better themselves. Last but not least, the owner is a super nice guy and has built something truly worthwhile here. Come in and train with us!
An very welcoming community with extremely professional and direct instruction. Multiple classes throughout the day as well. The ability to have a sauna, fitness center and 24 hour access to the facility makes it very appealing for those who have tight schedules and want to get a good workout in. This has been a fantastic experience for all 3 of my kids. My boys were all new to the sport this past year. Coach Danny and his team have done an incredible job onboarding them into a new discipline while fostering a new sense of accomplishment and self-confidence in each of them. NJ Ronin feels more like a community...a family ...than just a dojo. Side benefit, the kids come out dripping in sweat 3 days a week! I cannot more highly recommend NJ Ronin. Incredible value for the $$

After taking my first class I was hooked! Not only has NJ Ronin helped me get back into shape but it’s helped build my confidence. I’ve never done any form of martial arts prior to this but Danny made me feel welcomed and supported.

Such a great place! My daughter started when she was a little older, but has never felt out of place or like she was behind. Everyone is so kind and supportive. She absolutely loves it! The coaches are all wonderful and spend time even after class working with the kids. Value is much greater than the cost, which is extremely reasonable. Danny is one of the nicest business owners I’ve ever met. Highly recommended!

Both of my children have been training at NJ Ronin for the past year. This school has surpassed our expectations. The coaches are phenomenal - they really care about each and every kid in their program. Their coaching is positive, effective, and fun. My kids are always happy when they wake up & realize it’s a jiu jitsu day! I appreciate that the gym is always clean and inviting. We have met so many great people through this experience. My husband did a lot of research into all of the jiu jitsu schools local to us in Long Valley and I can say with confidence that he definitely chose well.
