Real deal High-level Muay Thai, elite world-class coaching. Nice people who will train with you at your level - from legit fighters to beginners, all getting coached properly and safely. The instruction is sharp, technical, and demanding. The people are solid, the atmosphere is focused, the training is fun and rigorous.
Posted 8 months agoLast weekend I was invited to a workout/open mat by my buddy Dan. If you ever meet Dan you will know he is coming as the solar eclipse begins and he blocks out the sun as he arrives. Given his size and the place being an MMA gym I was a bit cautious going in. When I arrived they had Christmas music going for my daughter. The work out was great as was the mat time. What was best was the conversation. We talked about how great it is to see young kids doing so well on the mats. Given my back ground as a gym teacher, this made me feel like I was talking to genuine caring people. The head instructor obviously knows how to surround himself with good people. I highly recommend you visit this spot if your into Martial arts.
Posted 8 months agoThis school came so clutch today. I got to my usual gym and found out open mat was cancelled. A google search led me here, and I’m glad it did. I liked that the location was kinda in the cut, but not too far from whatever you may need. They let me in, were welcoming, and trained safely. Got beat up for a couple rounds; glad I was able to get some work in.
Posted 11 months agoSigned my 15 year old up for the summer and he absolutely loved it. The coaches are amazing and so are the other members. My son was able to learn a lot, build confidence, and had so much fun in the process. Highly recommended
Posted 1 year agoI had an incredible experience at New Jersey Martial Arts! From the moment I walked in, the environment was welcoming, friendly, and open to newcomers of all ages and skill levels. Marco, the owner, went above and beyond by allowing me to enjoy a free class (3 to be exact) with absolutely zero pressure—just pure encouragement and a great introduction to their training. The atmosphere is positive and supportive, making it the perfect place for anyone looking to start or continue their martial arts journey. Whether you’re a beginner or have experience, this is a place where you’ll feel comfortable and motivated to improve. Highly recommend checking it out!
Great place, super clean, great instruction! Great place all around!
Just started there a couple weeks ago, but loving it so far.
I signed up for a free class and having no martial arts experience I was nervous, but instantly felt welcomed the moment | arrived. Marco was there to personally greet me, shake my hand and walk me through what the class would look like. I unfortunately was not able to participate the way l'd hoped (because of my own medical issues with my heart) so I had to stop training shortly into the class. Marco then invited me to sit with him, observe the class and chat with me for the next half hour since I had already drove to the class. During that half hour he educated me with a wealth of information about his training philosophy. I asked him some questions about martial arts and what I could do to learn some form of self defense that wasn't as cardio intensive. He offered me some alternatives, but told me my time and money would be better spent training myself technique from videos online since I couldn’t participate in a class environment. He was upfront and honest with me which I appreciated. From my non expert observation, this is the place you want to train. It's not just sport focused, it's HIGHLY self defense focused. You will constantly be training against others gaining skill. And most important you will be taught how to critically think, not just copy moves. This place is the real deal. Marco is intensely passionate about his craft, and if you train here I’m sure you will become that way too. 2 free classes never hurt anybody! So do it.
Great gym great training
I trained at NJMA over the summer and really enjoyed my experience here! The coaches, Marco and Bill, always gave detailed instruction with various situational nuances. It was clear that they love what they do, and are committed to effectively training their students. They really pushed everyone to put forth their best effort and I felt that there was a collective drive to improve. I also appreciated that I had great training partners who were dedicated and hardworking. I recommend this gym for anyone who wants to challenge themselves and improve their grappling!
There all super nice and they do a really good job training!
Excellent gym. Very friendly and welcoming, I felt right at home. The quality of instruction is very high. I had a rewarding training session here and will definitely be back!
Stopped by and visited the gym because my friend is starting to train here. Very inviting people and also very skilled I will definitely visit again.
I had a great experience going there with awesome instructors and understanding staff. The location is very clean with a set schedule of classes. Great price for what is available to you as a new comer and the first two classes are free! Make sure you give this place a try!
I have two kids, ages 7 and 5, currently enrolled at NJMA. My daughter started the kids' class at 5.5 years old, and my younger son has recently joined. NJMA has been a wonderful experience for both of them, and for me as a parent, watching their growth in skills, focus, and confidence both on and off the mat. They work hard and have a lot of fun. What I appreciate most about NJMA is its safe and supportive environment. When my daughter began, she was the youngest and smallest student, but the other kids were incredibly encouraging. The instructors emphasize that it's not about being the best or the fastest; it's about learning, improving, and respecting others. If you’ve already heard how great jiu jitsu is and want your child to learn or you’re just looking for a fun and challenging activity for your active kid(s), I highly recommend NJMA.
I recently began training at New Jersey Mixed Martial Arts and I couldn't be happier with my experience so far. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and it shows in their teaching style. The facility is clean and well-equipped, making it a comfortable and safe environment to train in. I've already seen improvements in my skills and fitness level after just a few classes. I highly recommend NJMA to anyone looking to learn martial arts, improve their fitness, or just try something new. It's definitely worth the investment in yourself.
Did a drop in, very solid gym, great instructor and great class, highly recommend
Very positive and friendly experience
This is a great school. After two years of attending, I can say it’s been an excellent choice for learning self-defense and staying active. I explored several martial arts schools in the area, including karate, taekwondo, and Jeet Kune Do before choosing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Muay Thai for their practical self-defense and fitness benefits. I decided on this gym after the positive experience with the free trial classes. Marco was very accommodating, and instructors Bill and Jen were both friendly and knowledgeable. The support and hospitality from instructors and fellow students continue to be outstanding. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in learning BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA or pursuing an active lifestyle to come check out this school. Last weekend, I competed in my second local BJJ tournament, and Marco, the head coach, came out to coach and support me. What made it extra special was, it was even though I was the only one from our school competing. His commitment to his students is evident, and the support he provides is consistent with what we experience in class. I came from a sedentary lifestyle to competing in combat sport tournaments, thanks to what I learned from this school, and the support I receive from the instructors and fellow students.
My boyfriend and I went to an open mat here and had a great time. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We got some really good rolls in and worked up a good sweat. Thank you, Marco, for allowing us to roll with you guys! We will be back!
Great gym, top notch instruction, clean, and good atmosphere. 5 stars highly recommend
Quick answer - NJMA is a great place to train. The head instructor, Marco, is super friendly and focused on a great experience. Bill, the second instructor, is super passionate and makes the training extra fun. Long review - I started at NJMA following COVID when things were still restricted and it was a train at your own risk scenario. Right from the beginning Marco (The Owner) was super conscious of the situation and made sure to clean the mats thoroughly. As a beginner to Martial Arts I was super nervous but everyone from the head black belts down were very supportive of me learning the art. I was able to train there for a few years off and on and every time I came back Marco remembered me and made me feel welcome. The beginner class with Bill was the highlight for me, as time went on. Bill is a super passionate teacher and will break you in the right way. He teaches with such detail and enthusiasm that it made me feel the same way he felt. I would continue to train here but I moved too far away but I highly recommend this school.
I checked out over 20 places, for over a week before making a decision about where my 7 year old would be introduced to BJJ and martial arts. Two years later, I couldn't be happier with our decision. Mr Marco and his assistant trainers are amazing at toeing the line between commanding and teaching respect, accountability & technique, while still allowing the kids to have fun while they grow and learn. I knew one month in, I'd be seeing these guys regularly for the next ten years. Kid loves it, I love it. Can't say enough good things. 5 out of 5 stars.
I took a class with Marco this evening and he was stellar. He answered all my questions, cracked jokes, and made me feel like I was his main priority. He's clearly a master at his craft and having the opportunity to learn from him was incredible. If you get the chance to learn from Marco, you should absolutely take it.
Marco Perazzo is a fantastic instructor and is super well respected in the community. Fortunate to have attended his amazing seminar! Anyone is lucky to be his student
NJMA is an amazing place to train with excellent instructors and students. Marco is extremely knowledgeable and the atmosphere is very welcoming, he made sure to spend time talking and working with me. Everyone you meet there is a friendly, supportive, and a tough but safe roll, perfect for leveling up your game. I would highly recommend training here.
I was asking about the open mat and the head instructor contacted me, invited me down and I had some great rolls with some really skilled guys… everyone was friendly and Marco even helped me with some technical details…. Highly recommend for recreation or athletes interested in competing 💪
Had the opportunity to attend an open mat session at NJMA this past Sunday and had a great experience. I was greeted by the owner and head instructor Marco as soon as I walked in. Going to a new gym to train is always intimidating, but I was welcomed by everyone there. I've only been training for a few months so I was given a lot of great coaching and encouragement from Marco and more experienced members of the gym. The gym was very clean and you could tell that everyone there was enthusiastic about the sport. While I'm not from the area I'm looking forward to the next time I get to train here.
Awesome place, great teachers! Environment was perfect for both beginners and experienced members. As a beginner, you would find yourself with hands-on training right away with some of the top members there
Great atmosphere for all levels.
Having relocated for work multiple times, I have had the opportunity to be a student and visitor at several Jiu Jitsu / MMA schools across different regions. I have since made my home in South Jersey and I am grateful to have found NJMA. Starting for the first time or joining a new school can be intimidating, but NJMA offers a welcoming and supportive environment for beginners, hobbyists, and competitors. Under Marco's guidance, NJMA fosters a culture of hard work, respect, and mutual support, facilitating significant progress and promoting overall well-being among its members. NJMA distinguishes itself by prioritizing the teaching of strong fundamentals and skill development. Marco's detailed study of Jiu Jitsu and MMA ensures that we're not only keeping pace with the latest trends but also staying ahead of the curve. His continuous evolution as an instructor reflects his commitment and dedication to our success and development. Each class is meticulously designed to challenge students while refining their techniques. NJMA offers an excellent environment for skill development and growth. With quality instruction and a welcoming community, it's the top choice for training in the area.
NJMA is the finest martial arts academy in Southern New Jersey. Professor Marco is an elite Brazilian Jiu Jitsu trainer. Top performers and competitors in the region go here to train. Besides BJJ, NJMA has a robust Muay Thai program with experienced coaches that train in Thailand. The atmosphere is welcoming, fun, but you’re going to work hard. The level of detail to instruction is more than you receive at many schools. If your looking for a world class training experience in either BJJ or Muay Thai, visit NJMA.
Was a nice and clean gym with great instruction. The people were also nice and welcoming as well. When class started everyone was focused, attentive, and no distractions. But it was also a fun and relaxed environment. I will definitely visit everytime I am in town.
This is my second school in my Jiu Jitsu journey and it has been an absolute blast so far. My first two years were spent at a heavy defense school so switching gears to a more offense-based school has been really good for me. Marco and Bill are amazing instructors and you can tell they love what they do. The students are all respectful and the place is very clean! I look forward to learning more here at NJMA!
Great gym filled with very friendly people. The instruction was excellent and very focused. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area
Marco's expertise and commitment to his students' success shine through in every aspect of the gym, making it the premier destination for anyone serious about mastering the art of mixed martial arts.
Marco's MMA Gym offers unparalleled training, expert coaching, and a supportive community that fosters growth and success for all levels of fighters.
NJMA is a fantastic place to learn great quality BJJ/Muay Thai in an environment of amazing people. You'll learn and work hard with tough training partners who will help push you towards your goals. This place became my second home. Expect to work hard and achieve amazing results from it!
Outstanding Professor and environment. The members are very welcoming and supportive. The Professor is world class and is able to help everyone reach their individual goals. Regardless of age, gender, or size, NJMA is a fantastic place for all.
If your serious about leveling up your self defense and mma this is the place for you. With great passion, Marco leads a great community of people who love bjj and muy thai just the same.
First MMA gym I ever joined and have been going here for a year. Incredibly friendly, knowledgeable (and funny) instructors and practitioners. Literally the reason that's keeping me in South Jersey. Would highly reccomend checking out!
NJMA is the best BJJ/Muy Thai gym in the area. I have been training there for the past four years and have met so many great people and also met some great friends. The classes are top notch led by Marco where he creates a welcoming environment especially for people who are new to the martial arts world. 10/10!
NJMA has been an absolute blessing for me. From day 1 I felt a sense of belonging and fellowship. Being here has given me a renewed sense of confidence in life, and I am extremely thankful for that. If you’re looking for a serious place to train with great people, look no further. 10/10, I highly recommend.
I was really hesitant at first as it was way out of my comfort zone. But after talking to professor Marco it was an easy decision to join. All the instructors are very helpful and are always ready to answer any questions you have. NJMA is not only a great place to learn martial arts but also having fun while doing it. Meeting people from different backgrounds is a plus too. Thank you NJMA!!
Best in class academy. Marco is skilled, transparent, down to earth and well respected. I walked into his academy with high expectations based on the reviews online, and they were profoundly exceeded. He does a great job of managing the culture. Every person that comes to class has their own personality, but they all have respect for other members, for the class, for Marco and for the arts. I’ve been humbled, inspired and energized by this experience and will continue to be a student at NJ MMA for a very long time.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have visited dozens of schools over the last 14 years, most of which I haven’t returned to with any frequency. I met Professor Marco through a friend a few years ago and was very impressed by several things. His knowledge and attention to detail is impressive, but his ability to teach and connect with his students is what sets him apart. It’s one thing to know martial arts, it’s another to be able to effectively communicate it to students of all levels. I greatly appreciate the advice and camaraderie, and will certainly be back soon.
TL;DR: Whether you just want to study martial arts, compete in tournaments, or aspire to become a professional fighter, this is the school for you. Full Review: I joined NJMA as a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu shortly after moving to New Jersey in 2019. The quality of teaching at the school is top notch. Marco continually adapts his approach to instruction, researching the most effective methods to improve your skills as fast as possible. At the school - there is no emphasis on competing or professional fighting. If that is a goal of yours, Marco will get behind you and help you get to where you want to be. There are a wide variety of skill levels and body sizes among the students. Everyone there is serious about their training, but there is still space for fun and laughter. The ability to execute techniques under “real world” stress scenarios is the golden standard. EG: Every technique taught is later tested under different levels of resistances (no resistance, some resistance, or max resistance or “live”). The result is knowing that you will eventually be able to execute the techniques can confidently rely on them outside of the gym. Lastly, I will say Marco is just a down to earth guy. He is a family man who is happy to answer serious questions from anyone (as time allows). Conversations after training have spanned the gamut of topics, both inside of martial arts and out. His wealth of knowledge and network of people is invaluable, and I am honored to be a student of his.
My 3 sons and I both go to classes there. My boys are better people after going here. They don’t just teach martial arts. The instructors are first class. Mr Marco is outstanding. Highly highly recommend NJMA.
Great gym for all skill levels. Awesome and positive atmosphere. Marco is very knowledgeable and has a great style of teaching that is very effective and entertaining.
NJMA is THE place to start, or to continue to train martial arts in snj. Each instructor has a genuine mastery over the skills and techniques they are incharge of teaching, along with an unparalleled ability to translate the technique to easily understandable terms. There is a healthy diversity of skill enough to help train anyone to be a formidable opponent on the street or in a ring. If your interested in BJJ, Muay Thai, wrestling, or MMA generally, NJMA is a great place to train with extremely knowledgeable instructors in their respective art. Bill, the BJJ instructor has mastery over fundamental and advanced techniques, with a deep understanding of the nuances. Jen, the muay thai instructor is very knowledgeable about the nuances of striking. She has a keen eye for potential issues in your stance, striking, etc. Tom, the wrestling instructor is extremely knowledgeable about the physics of the human body. Each wrestling class is tough and informative. And lastly, The Professor himself, Marco. Marco is very aproachable and dedicated to each aspect of his craft. He is always geared to make conversation and help, assist, or explain any martial arts questions you may have. NJMA is a great place for anyone looking to work hard. Each class offered is your opportunity to learn something new, sweat, and do something that impresses yourself. Best place on earth.
I have been here a little over a year and it's my favorite place to be, made good friends and learning a lot. Thanks a lot to our great instructor Marco
Great atmosphere and learning environment. I started training 4 months ago in June and have built a great relationship with instructors and students here. Marco and other instructors are willing to help you learn and build your skills based off of whatever pace you feel is best for you. I would recommend 10/10.
Very welcoming place to train with fantastic instructors. I feel like I’m improving on something each class even after only 5 months. I definitely recommend trying NJMA out if you’re feeling hesitant about starting. You won’t regret it!
I’ve visited academies across the country and what they all strive for what this place brings. I was amazed! Great culture and workout. One hundred percent recommend!
This is a world-class studio with a family feel. Marco understands the goals of each of his students on a professional and personal level and caters to specific needs while keeping class flow seamless. Great group of men and women who leave ego at the door and focus on training and increasing skill and knowledge. Great for self-defense (for both men and women), bonding with people from all backgrounds and professions, and for an enjoyable workout. Highly recommend this studio for Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts of all levels. Fantastic atmosphere!
Outstanding instructors and program. Great group of fighters and classmates to learn with. I felt comfortable going to my first classes as a total beginner and I can see how the training and skills progress with time and effort. 5/5, highly recommended.
My son takes classes here, and Marco and the team are phenomenal. I recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great outlet for their kids to get out some energy and learn about life.
The amount of blood, sweat and tears is an understatement at this facility. The professor Marco gives his all to the martial arts community. Take his time to show correct and precision moves. Happy with the switch over I made from another facility. I have been pushed to become better and better each class. I highly recommend NJMA to everyone.
A great place to learn, the instruction is great and the the staff is very knowledgeable. I have recently switch from another school and my learning has surpassed what I have learned in the past in such a short amount of time.
I highly recommend training with Professor Marco and his team; very knowledgeable instructors! A great experience while training here!
This is a great gym for anybody looking to train martial arts, Marco makes sure that everybody is learning and pushing themselves, from the beginners to the advanced members of the gym, while also making sure that everyone is training safely and respectfully of others. I am so happy to be able to train at this gym, it has seriously had a major positive impact on my life.
I am very impressed by this facility and specifically the owner, Professor Marco, for a variety of reasons. In addition to teaching to high quality, precise techniques, he maintains a focus and emphasis on safety and the wellbeing of the group, demonstrating effective techniques as well as noting possible pitfall to maintain your body’s structural integrity and avoid injury. Despite his impressive achievements, he is both humble and strong. He works to create a sense of community so that grappling and sparring may be done in a safe but very effective fashion. I am very grateful I found his practice as his skill and expertise are wide-ranging (beyond MMA). He is understanding of beginners and those with tough schedules but keeps you realistically accountable (in your best interest). Thank you so much Professor Marco!
Dropped in on a Sunday for open mat. Marco and crew were incredibly nice and accommodating. I’m looking forward to coming back as soon as I can.
Great gym! Very welcoming and fun. Highly suggest this gym to anyone looking to get into martial arts!
Amazing gym with a great vibe, I was in town from Florida and stopped by to train and the owner was very welcoming, highly recommend
I've been training with Professor Perazzo for close to fourteen years. He's is a knowledgeable instructor with over 20 years of experience. He is able to convey the most subtle of details in a technique and make it easily understandable. Whether you're competing in MMA or in a grappling, he's a terrific coach. He is able to systematically work you through your match. This is a rare trait that he possesses. NJMA is a large and clean facility. The classes are great blend of BJJ specific conditioning, drills, technique then live training. All of the students are solid grapplers at their level and very welcoming. If you're in the area, I cannot recommend enough. - James Chiariello
We took our 14 year old girl here to see if she would be interested in taking classes. The guy was great. She was invited to take a class, but chose to watch. She’s still deciding, but a great place, great instructor! You get a free class also. Very cool!
I recently began training at NJMA since moving to NJ from Philly within the last few months. Due to family obligations and covid, I had taken some time away from the mats but was very much looking forward to training again. Prof. Perazzo and the NJMA team were very welcoming, particularly given my situation of being a blue belt from another school who is rusty from the time off. Prof Perazzo runs an organized, efficient class with a clear lesson plan and is able to explain concepts with ease. Training partners are excellent - they’re tough and apply pressure, but do so with the goal of collective improvement. I am very much looking forward to continuing my Jiu jitsu journey with this school and would highly recommend it.
Njma is a great place for anyone to train martial arts. I went in with no experience and felt welcomed right away. Marco is a great instructor and everyone in there is helpful and in there to get better. I would recommend this gym to anyone looking into martial arts.
I’ve been going to NJMA for about 9 months now. Prior to joining NJMA, I began my Jiu Jitsu journey at a different academy. The academy was nice, but the environment was not even close to NJMA’s. During class Marco takes the time to make sure everyone on the mat understands what he’s teaching. On numerous occasions, during open mat, I have seen Marco off to the side paying very close attention to every student on the mat. No matter what belt they are. This has helped me tremendously in my career as a Police Officer.
New Jersey martial arts is an incredible gym with an inviting atmosphere, and led by knowledgable instructors. Whether you are a seasoned fighter, or just starting out, New Jersey martial arts is an excellent place to go to.
Great place to train with wonderful people. Marco, the guy running the gym, is very involved and makes sure that everyone that trains there gets to be the best version of themself. This place is very accepting, no matter your skill level and everyone is willing to push you and help you grow as a person.
Getting into Jujitsu, and Muay Thai in my thirties is something I always wanted to try but put off for the longest. I wanted something different, fun, and challenging from my usual gym routine. In hindsight joining NJMA was one of the best things I’ve done for myself. It has taken me to Thailand, and almost got to go Brazil before it was canceled due to Covid. This drive for these two martial arts is because of the atmosphere Marco has created at NJMA. The same respect, encouragement, and attention to detail is given to every individual student. Marco is an excellent teacher, and truly cares about the development of your BJJ & Muay Thai path. Although it may be intimidating at first being new, if you bring effort and consistency it’s as good as GOLD here with fitting in. I would highly recommend trying BJJ & Muay Thai here you will not regret it.
Best martial arts gym in the area. Classes are taught in a challenging manner and you will feel your progress. Everyone at this gym has great work ethic and genuinely wants to help with whatever your goals may be. Marco Perazzo and his team are very skilled and experienced in their teaching methods of martial arts. After attending classes on a regular basis I have improved my discipline, athleticism, critical thinking, and self control. Classes are serious and meaningful while maintaining elements of fun and enjoyment. Check it out and see for yourself
Before coming to NJMA, I didn't have any experience in martial arts, and I was nervous about going, but I am glad that I went. Marco runs a great gym with a great atmosphere that is conducive to learning. I only wish that I had started going earlier!
I have been training at New Jersey Martial Arts for almost year and a half now. Professor Marco Perazzo is super knowledgeable and an amazing teacher. Having no prior martial arts experience, I felt little nervous walking in the gym the first time but everyone at NJMA are friendly, respectful and always willing to help you to get better. I would highly recommend NJMA to anyone who is looking to get in shape and get physically and mentally stronger while learning new skills.
This is my first year at NJMA. Not only have I begun learning BJJ and Mua Thai, I have learned what it feels like to completely destress and rid my mind of negativity. Before joining the gym my stress level was super high. COVID has taken a toll on everyone both physically and mentally. Working shift work in an ICU during a pandemic leads to some serious mental strain. Hitting NJMA two to three times a week has had a major impact on my overall mental health. Despite operating on a pandemic schedule we are still able to meet during the week and on weekends and everyone works as one to better themselves individually. Marco keeps our safety as a top priority before entering and while training in the gym. Here’s to many more years of training!
Heard about NJMA through my cousin Phil, who is a black belt in BJJ. He had told me to check out Marco and his team as they were the best guys in the area for MMA training. I was hesitant at first because MMA is so new to me, but I am really happy that I gave it a shot. Marco and his guys were so welcoming and have helped me out tremendously so far. I would highly recommend NJMA and Marco for anyone in the area that is trying to “get better” at life and of course train MMA!
Great martial arts training facility with high level instructors. Experienced, respectful, and safe training partners with lots of mat space!
NJMA is a great place to train. Tough rounds with awesome training partners. Thank you Prof. Marco & everyone for making me feel welcomed.
Me gustaría aprender pero no hablo inglés tiene un maestro en español??
Went to my first open mat today at NJMA and it was a great experience! Great workout and every person there is friendly and eager to teach beginners like myself. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area looking to get into BJJ.
I was a traveling student from "the paradigm" in lowell ma and wanted to be able to be able to train while in the area and Professor Marco accepted me with open arms, the hospitality is awesome there the group of guys that train there were good guys as well, well rounded gym and looking forward to go for another visit
Excellent facility. Easy to find, parking right in the front. Marco and staff were welcoming and very helpful. Overall a great experience at the Seminar. Look forward to coming back for open mats.
I recently found myself looking for a new place to train because of my school closing. I researched several places in the area and reached out to Marco through the school website. He promptly returned my email, set up a time to come in and set aside time to address any questions or concerns I might have. He was upfront, straightforward and honest throughout the process. In addition to being a top notch instructor Marco has a genuine concern for his students safety, progress and overall well being. Marco has fostered a community of respect, hard work and cooperation that is not easily found elsewhere. If you have always wanted to train but have felt intimidated don't put off any longer. You will be welcomed, challenged and be taking the first steps to becoming a better version of you.
Our son has been involved in the kids’ program for over a year now, and we couldn’t be happier with his development, both in his practice and his character. Marco and his team encourage the kids to respect themselves and others and to take their practice seriously. There is always a closing talk that reinforces an idea or goal for the week ahead that is relevant to the kids’ experience. Best of all, the kids have fun, because the class is very much like a family—a safe, welcoming atmosphere in which all receive the attention and consideration they deserve. We are so happy we chose NJMA for this journey.
My experience with NJMA has been great since the start, and only continues to keep getting better!! I first signed my son up for the kids classes over a year ago and I myself joined a few months after. I originally looked into NJMA as a different way to keep my son active and healthy. Within the first few classes I realized we weren’t just paying for our son to exercise and learn how to defend himself. It was so much more than that. It’s an investment! We pay for our son to get so tired he wants to quit, but doesn’t, for him to be “too tired” to go to class, but goes anyway. We pay for him to learn to respect others, respect himself, and respect his belongings. He learns how to be a teammate, how to be humble when winning , and how to keep his head up when he loses. He learns to be proud, confident, and honest. We invest in life lessons that our children will carry with them their whole life. A huge thank you to ALL of the amazing instructors, you do a great job!
This is a great school for new and experienced martial artists. Marco, the owner and lead instructor, has created a welcoming environment for those in the kids and adult programs. I remember getting help to learn the moves in the warm-up during my first couple classes and then helping new students once I was more experienced. Marco is an extremely knowledgeable instructor for the intermediate and advanced classes and Bill is a great instructor for the fundamentals classes. Both Marco and Bill take their time to walk you through new techniques and push you to improve your skills at a pace you feel comfortable with. I would highly recommend this school to anyone interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Muay Thai.
I started training at New Jersey martial arts over 8 years ago and i will say It was the best decision of my life! Marco is an amazing teacher and an all around amazing person! Going here has taught me self defense and helped me get into the best shape of my life. When i started here i was over weight and a super shy person to say It helped me become the confident man i am today would be an understatement! I strongly suggest going here!!
I have been attending classes here for a little over 4 months and have nothing but great things to say. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, the upper level individuals are happy to share their skills, and are willing to guide you when you are confused (which for myself is fairly often). Marco is a great instructor who takes a large amount of pride in his ability to instruct effectively while still making sure that he interacts with everyone in a very personal way, this makes everyone feel comfortable while training and creates a friendly and more welcoming experience.
Great BJJ school and great people! Marco the owner and head instructor is knowledgeable and has years of diversified experience. I thought my busy schedule would make it difficult, but Marco is very accommodating and the school has flexible schedules that allow you to train morning or night. If you're looking to learn BJJ or for a new school, definitely check out NJMA!
From my first interaction with Mr. Marco Perazzo I knew that he and his MMA program at NJMA would have a positive impact on my children. Since my son and daughter began training at NJMA their problem solving skills, social skills, focus, confidence and overall physical health has improved. If you are looking for a family friendly atmosphere which promotes respect and will help your child become the best version of themselves, you have found it. Try NJMA.
Six years ago, I found myself looking for a martial art school. I was very fortunate to find New Jersey Martial Arts (NJMA). I love the environment, the respect among peers, and the encouragement given by the professor, Marcos. The NJMA is not only great for adults, but it’s great for children, as well. Personally, I have four kids who are all enrolled and we’re taking advantage of the wonderful program they offer for kids, taught by Professor Marcos. If anybody is looking for a great martial arts program, l highly recommend the New Jersey Martial Arts school. In my opinion, it is the best martial arts school in the area.
We would like to said Thank You to all of you. I want to share my experience at NJMA. Like about 15 months ago. We texted Mr. Marco about 8.00 p.m . We was looking karate class for our kids. He respond back very friendly and suggest us first to enjoy his class first before enrrolled. Yes!!!!!... The first time... I love it!!!!. Mr. Marco approached our kids and talked to them at the first time " said Thank you to your parents because they paid for you"... The way he talked with our kids make us feel good. Months later my husband died. My kids ( 5 & 7 Y.O) was very depressed. Therapist didn't work at all. Mr. Marco once more time knew how handled the situation perfectly. Today, I can said they are more confident and enjoy the class same as the fist day. My husband was right.!!!." This is the place that they need to be" God put everything in our way preparing us for this situation in our life. Im.sure that J is so happy that his kids continue in this environment. I dont have words to said Thank You.... for everything ... to you Mr. Marco's and your team. No borring therapist... NJMA is the best!!!
Choosing NJMA was 1 of the best things I ever did for my son and then for myself. Had no clue what school to put him in and ended up trying NJMA because of the fast response time. He loves it. Good people to be around and a family atmosphere where you actually walk away daily with useful training. I can’t stop recommending them to people. If you’re interested in becoming a better version of yourself or giving your children an activity that instills values, look no further.
I have been attending classes 3-5 times a week at NJMA for a little over month. Since joining NJMA I have lost 10 lbs., learned useful self defense techniques, and greatly improved my cardio. When I started I had never done jiu jitsu or Muay Thai. Both Marco and his staff provide a great environment for novices and veterans to learn. Moreover, the other members of NJMA are welcoming and helpful to newcomers like myself. Marco has created an environment that encourages people to push themselves and not be afraid of failure. Joining NJMA was one of the best decisions I have made in the past year. I heavily recommend NJMA to anyone who is interested in martial arts.
I started at NJMA 3 months ago and I think it’s an excellent school. The classes are structured so that as a beginner you start learning from day one. The jiu jitsu/Muay Thai instructors explain everything in a clear, logical way. NJMA has a really friendly atmosphere and newcomers feel welcome right away. I recommend this school to anyone looking for a MMA, self-defense program that will build your self confidence and get you into shape. They offer kids classes also.
While visiting family on the east coast my 3 kids and I wanted to get some training in. We experienced an academy that was very welcoming and treated us like family. We definitely will be training with Professor Marco and his BJJ family when we visit again.
I just moved here and signed up about a week ago. Marco the head instructor has been awesome, he had me attend two free classes to see how I liked it and I’ve attended every class since joining. The students and instructors are all very personable and have been welcoming since day one. The classes are a lot of fun and challenging and I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to learn Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. It’s been worth every penny.
I trained open mats today. I trained with probably 7 different guys including Marco. Legit skills from everyone but even better was what quality human beings they all were. Very helpful to me to help me improve my game and get great training.
I started training traditional Martial Arts in the early 90s. I've trained in and visited dozens of schools since I began. NJMA is full of friendly, respectful people all trying to improve themselves together. Professor Marco Perazzo provides quality instruction in a safe and positive environment. Whether you want to casually begin or push yourself to new levels Professor Perazzo and his students are there for you. I fully recommend NJMA and Professor Perazzo as one of the best schools I've ever stepped foot in with one of the best instructors I've ever met.
I had the pleasure of training with Professor Marco and his competition team to get ready for a few of my fights and it was an extremely awesome experience. He pushed me and every single student in the class to reach their full potential. I suggest if you live in the area to check out his facility. He has a great kids and adult program. He is a great professor and loves what he does. I love training at his facility when I am in the area. Everyone in the schools loves BJJ and loves to learn and share their knowledge. He is very welcoming and is very knowledgeable in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Fighting.
The positives: 1) Marco, the owner and lead instructor, was very personable and easy to talk to. He made me feel extremely welcomed. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. 2) Sampling two classes was great. I came in solely interested in BJJ; however, after taking the Mauy Thai class I was even more interested in joining. 3) the two instructors I experienced were very nice, patient, and informative. 4) the other students were also very welcoming. The sole negative: after taking a BJJ and Mauy Thai class over the course of two consecutive days Marco presented me with his sales pitch - the price was competitive for the market considering everything it included. The downside was the pressure to make an “on the spot” decision to join or have the prices increase considerably. I wasn’t a big fan of this approach so I asked for 24 hours to think it over, after all I was clearly interested since I had come two days in a row. No dice. Take it or leave it. Policy is policy. So I left it, with a check in my pocket. I’m disappointed since I had an overall good experience. I wish NJMA all the best and offer this suggestion for the future: after the first class go over the pricing and then ask for the commitment after the second class - had this occurred my check wouldn’t be in my pocket and I wouldn’t be looking for alternative places to go.
