We just started with NB Jiu Jitsu but already feel at home! Our rambunctious 5 year old has been begging for a place she can go to meet some new friends and run out some energy, and she def did just that when she went to her first class 😊 everyone was so kind to her and helped her to feel welcomed. I really love that they teach even the littles about their core values, some of those being, integrity, honesty, and respect! Being the second born child, we find we need all the help we can get in our village 😅😮💨 Thank you so much to Ryan and all your staff! We are thrilled to be apart of the family! 🫶🏼

The staff are not only so kind and welcoming, but are extremely family oriented. They are determined to help teach each individual techniques that will help them grow with confidence and strength.
Posted 1 year agoWe’ve only been to a couple of practices at New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu, but already it’s been a fantastic experience. The coaches and team are incredibly welcoming — you can tell they care about the kids and want them to succeed. It’s a great workout and more than just physical activity — it’s teaching our son real body control and coordination. He’s still figuring things out and sometimes feels a little lost, but the coaches are always quick to step in, guide him through the moves, and make sure he feels supported. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a positive, structured environment to help their child grow in confidence and physical skills. Looking forward to many more sessions here!

Everyone is super friendly and welcoming, from the moment you walk in the door. The instructors are top-notch—knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about teaching. Whether you’re brand new or more advanced, they make sure you’re learning and improving every time you step on the mat. Highly recommend to anyone looking to train Jiu Jitsu in a positive, respectful atmosphere!
Posted 1 year agoWe had a great first time here! My son absolutely loves it and loves being around other homeschool kids his age and older in the homeschool class. The people who run this place are genuinely kind and caring people and I instantly felt very good having my son here. You can tell the love and passion they have not just for the sport, but for the kids as well. The coaches were helpful and kind. The older boys were so kind to my son as well and helped him acclimate. I overall felt really good about NBJJ. Looking forward to my son’s growth in the sport here and to see what he will be able to accomplish.

My girls, 10 and 13, just joined the team at New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu, and we are so incredibly excited to be a part of their family. As soon as we walked through the door, we knew it would be a wonderful experience, and it was. If you haven't looked into what they offer, their schedule, and what they stand for, you absolutely should! What a fantastic crew of coaches and families involved!
I’ve never seen my son enjoy a class or sport as much as he does here! We just got started and I can’t wait to see how his confidence, strength and coordination builds. I also love that it is a Christian organization, they even play Christian music in the gym, and they are very family oriented and every kid gets attention even though it’s such a big class!
THIS PLACE! It’s always nerve-racking trying to get your child involved in a sport because you don’t know if they’re gonna like it or hopefully excel at it. My son and I have never felt so welcome walking through new doors. This family run establishment was kind, respectful and genuinely interested in my kiddo. The staff is knowledgeable and so patient! 10/10 recommend and encourage anyone of any age to check it out!
My family and I love NBJJ!! We’ve tried several gyms and didn’t have such great experiences, until we found New Braunfels JiuJitsu! The owners are amazing! They are very family oriented and kind folks. Professor Ryan is a fantastic coach, we enjoy his teaching style. The atmosphere is welcoming, large and clean! Was invited to attend the homeschool Jiu Jitsu course, and we were not disappointed. The trainers and Ryan held the attention of 30 kids easily. They broke down the class with takedown techniques and made it fun. We signed up immediately after. Can't wait for my sons to continue learning the craft.

I knew I would love NB Jiu Jitsu as soon as I heard the Christian music playing in the background. My husband and I were really impressed with the instructors and the grace that everyone in the class showed us, especially since we were both completely new to the sport. Ryan and his staff are great! My 10 year old son is enrolled in the program. They demonstrate not only an expertise in Jiu Jitsu but also a true love for kids. I feel that my son is not only learning a great new skill but he is doing it in an encouraging environment. Miyago Do (I know it’s not karate) with a lot more fun. I recommend it to anyone.
I just recently signed up for my kiddo up here and it has been great. I was concerned about how safe it would be for a 4 year old to do jujitsu but as I watch the classes I can see that the instructors make sure these kiddos are respectful of others and I am amazed at the difference between this class and other sports we have had him in. The instructors are not shy about correcting kids and I really like that as other classes we have taken kids run around like banshees and the instructor/ other parents allow it which in turn can cause a lot of disruption during class. There is a lot of discipline, focus, & self awareness that goes into jujitsu and I think it’s amazing that these instructors are able to help teach children this little those values.

Highly recommend!! My daughter tried out a free class at NB Jiu Jitsu and we signed up for a membership before we left. I immediately felt like it was the right fit for her as soon as we walked in. The coaches, the other kids, and everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. The coaches were very encouraging and made sure all of the kids were included and motivated the whole time. She had a smile on her face the whole class and I have no doubt this is because of how welcome and comfortable she felt. So excited to be a part of this great group!

We went in for the free lesson as my son was undecided about Jiu Jitsu and left with a membership. There is such a positive energy and I am sure it has to do with the owner, Ryan. He was super friendly and patient with my son. It’s hard work, but it feels like a family so it’s fun for my son.
We’ve only been to one class, but it will be the first of many. My wife and I were very impressed with how happy and excited all the children are to be there. Our son is very young and very shy, but they took the time to get him comfortable and by the end of the class he was enjoying it very much.
I took my son here the other day to try it out. He really enjoyed it. Everyone was very welcoming. And patient with teaching him the moves. He liked it so much we signed him up for the year. The prices were very reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Great local BJJ gym with excellent coaches. Coaches are attentive, interactive, and quick to provide feedback. Respect among coaches is obvious and sets a great example for students. Safety is paramount and provides an awesome environment for learning combat sports.
Our 5 year old is loving Lion Cubs at NBJJ! The head instructor, Ryan, knows how to keep the kids focused and have them let out some energy. The two things I like the most: 1. Your kids will learn and practice! Our 5 year old learned a take down and mount in a safe controlled environment - something I learned as a young adult in BJJ. These skills are applicable for self defense, rather than a class marketed as BJJ that onlys checks the box. 2. The instructor, Ryan, is a great BJJ teacher and awesome person. He has walked the walk by winning tournaments and appearing on a BJJ podcast. He also cares about his students and their families. When our family experienced an emergency, he responded quickly and worked on billing with us to ensure we were not pinched at a critical life event. We are very thankful we found and signed up with NBJJ.
My brother has been apart of this gym for a year. I came to visit from NC and Ryan allowed me to attend two evening adult sessions and an open mat session with no fee. Ryan and his father, the gym owners, were incredibly gracious, allowed me to sign a waiver with no concerns, and take up my brother’s membership while he was hurt from a recent BJJ tournament. All the other gym goers were all welcoming and accommodating. Every single person was humble, kind, and not overly aggressive during spar matches. If I lived in the area, this would be the gym I’d become a member of.

The atmosphere here is fantastic! They have a great teacher to student ratio where they were able to help guide my child through her first day. Everyone has a great attitude and warm demeanor. I feel like my child will be able to enjoy her time here for years to come.
Gym vibes got me to try out a truly free beginner class, but about an hour and a half later I found myself joining the team! I began my jiu jitsu journey with New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu, led by instructor Ryan and a few other black belts. I was greeted/introduced and taken care of as far as getting started(and throughout). Pretty quickly I naturally paired with another white belt and felt right at home. Jiu jitsu on the brain, always. Glad to have met these grapplers, excited to see where this takes me at 33yrs old.

I've had the opportunity to train at numerous jiu jitsu schools, but this one truly stands out. It exudes a welcoming atmosphere coupled with top-notch instruction. What sets this academy apart is its roster of three highly skilled black belt instructors, each bringing their unique style to the mat. This diversity not only enriches the learning experience but also ensures a well-rounded education in the art of jiu jitsu.
This studio is clean, and well run. The instructors are kind to attendees - they’re even able to handle the hyperactive kiddos with patience. I was greeted both times I brought my nephew to his class. As someone who spent a number of years in a martial arts studio and has visited several, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this place. 🙌🏻
I’ve been doing Jiu Jitsu for about a year and my one thing has always been training with nice, respectful and rolling with no egos and this place hit the spot on all three accounts!! The process to sign up and free class was amazing. Good warm-ups, followed by great instruction of techniques. What I thought was really cool was the involvement the instructor got everyone to participate in. I felt right at home and I signed up right on the spot. Definitely a gym I will be recommending.
Nb jiu jitsu was the first out of 4 gyms we tried. The first thing i liked was the upfront honesty on the price. The other gyms we tried will only tell you in person. After each gym my son always mentioned he liked the first one more. I pretty much had to keep pushing him to try other ones before we made a decision. He said he had a lot of fun and also felt like he learned the same things just in a fun way. So the choice was obvious, this gym was his favorite! Glad we found a place.

NB Jiu-Jitsu provides a very welcoming environment. Right from the first day of my training, I found everyone there to be genuinely friendly and supportive. This is not always the case in other BJJ gyms I've been to. I appreciate the class structure that incorporates self-defense and foundational BJJ techniques. Overall, NB Jiu-Jitsu provides a well-rounded approach to learning in an outstanding environment. This is everything you could ask for when seeking a place to learn this martial art.

Dropped in for the first time today, and Professor Ryan and Professor Andrew were amazing! Everybody at their facility were extremely nice, and had some amazing Jiu Jitsu! I would definitely recommend to anybody who is simply looking to be around and train with great people!
Attention families LOOK NO FURTHER. NBJJ is the place to call home. My son started with the NBJJ family back in October and the amount of confidence he has gained and the growth in his skills continue to progress. Professor Ryan is such a friendly and welcoming man. His genuine care for the members of his Jiu Jitsu community flows through him. We couldn’t wait for our youngest to join his big brother, so as soon as he turned of age-we signed him up. I wanted to take a moment to write a review for New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu. We moved our 6 year old from another school where she trained for 1 1/2, but we saw that she was losing interest, excitement motivation for jiu jitsu in general. We decided to make a change, so we chose to enroll her into NBJJ, where she just completed her first week. Everyday since the move she has asked “when is the next class going to be…” Suffice it to say that it seems she has regained that fire back for jiu jitsu. Luckily NBJJ offers classes M- F in Gi and No-Gi sessions, as well as a homeschool program that is offered on Tues & Thurs also included with the membership. There are plenty of times for her to train and enjoy jiu jitsu. I really like that there are several coaches on the mat during each session. Without a doubt there is no lack of excitement in class given the decibel level from the kids’ level of engagement and participation on the mat. The attention to detail, safety and life lessons that the coaches teach on the mat is tremendous. Sparring sessions are well supervised with coaching and critique happening from 1-3 coaches during the sparring sessions. The owner, staff and coaches are some of the nicest people you ever will meet.
Ryan the instructor/owner of this place is such a great teacher and human being. We loved being around every single person. If you ever feel alone or down, come here!! Better work out than my gym time, for sure. Learn self defense. Jiu Jitsu overall is good mentally and physically for our well being. :)
This is not my first martial arts rodeo. I have engaged in a few disciplines and one of them for several years...I have to say though...this academy is unlike any I have ever attended. First, I must point out that this staff is a cut above anything I have experienced. It is a family run business and you feel like family from when you walk in the door. The coaching staff is phenomenal. Professor Ryan Grandon is a true master of his craft and it shows through his ability to clearly and concisely explain the movements we are learning. They give you plenty of time to practice it and also ample time to roll towards the end of class. Coach Chris was also amazing on no-gi day. He spent a lot of time with me and my son not just teaching but demonstrating the movements. I’ve been in the presence of many elite level coaches as well as coaches who need more time in the trenches. When you’ve been around long enough, it doesn’t take long to spot a good one. We joined New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu for our 4 year old son several months ago. From the start, we have been treated like family by the whole staff. My son had tried another gym prior to NBJJ and struggled to overcome his fears there. Within the first couple of classes at NBJJ, he was already feeling confident and empowered to roll with the other students and improve his technique. We have seen so much growth in his grappling and witnessed how the discipline of the sport is helping to shape his character. We are very thankful to Ryan and all of the coaches and staff at this loving, Christ-centered establishment.

We have been searching for a program that would help teach discipline, respect & values-- all while having a ton of fun-- and they did not disappoint. I dropped in for a visit with an old friend who trained here. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and I had a great time in the fundamentals class. Entering the building you'll find the professors medals on the right hand side to show their credibility, a picture of Jesus on the left to show you who they are, and a welcoming desk attendant. The place was all smiles and warmness from the second I entered. Finally, class had some great extra details for my triangle and setting it up. The mat space was larger than any other academies I've visited and the rolls were fun. New Braunfels JJ was a great time and I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.
My son recently joined NB Ju-jitsu and is absolutely loving it! It’s been about a year since he last rolled so it has been such a blessing to find a gym that exercises patience while still expecting the kids to give 110%. I especially appreciate the emphasis on discipline and core values, including integrity and safety. I highly recommend this gym; they are kind, family-friendly, and quite affordable.
Great gym, best of all the environment and community it has is very inviting and loving. My oldest kid is in the childrens class and I can see how much more confident she is In herself because of this class. I also do the adult class and it challenges me to be better physically and overall as a person.
New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu is a wonderful place for your kids to learn. They have a very welcoming environment. Everyone is genuinely excited to teach your kids. They have a very positive attitude. They do a great job of respecting your kids and elevating them to the level that they are ready for.
My 8-yo son loves this place. He has ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and Tourette’s so his self esteem really has taken a hit as he’s gotten older. He feels empowered when he takes these classes. Jiu jitsu boosts his confidence and gives him something he can be successful in always. I love the positive atmosphere at this place especially; everybody is so friendly and encouraging. The kids have a blast. Also great for building values of discipline, respect, honor, and integrity. I recommend this place 100-percent.
This was just what our 16 year old son needed. From the moment we stepped foot into this establishment we immediately felt at home! We were greeted with the warmest of smiles and the hospitality shown is second to none. Coach Ryan and the rest of the coaching staff at New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu are knowledgeable, experienced and incredible mentors for not only youth but adults, as well. My son and I joined this gym recently and absolutely love it! After trying a few other gyms in the area, this is hands down the best. Best coaches and best atmosphere around. From the moment you walk in the door for a class you are treated better than family! They have a high regard for safety and quality, everyone in the gym is interested in your success. I absolutely love it here and wouldn’t recommend anyone going anywhere else!
My oldest son (5 years old) just started jiu jitsu here last week and LOVES it. He enjoys playing the games and learning new moves. I love that he gets to work hard and try new things while having fun in a safe learning environment. The coaches have been great with helping him learn the various warm ups, rolls, and movements that are new to him. His younger brother wants to join too when he’s old enough! So glad our friends recommended this place to us!!
Just committed to one month to checkout the group, style, climate, etc. for my experienced child. Pricing is comparable to what we have seen in other local studios and the fact that there are six potential classes my 12yo can attend weekly is a huge plus. Pete and Ryan made the process smooth, both were incredibly kind and welcoming. We look forward to seeing how our son progresses and are hopeful that this will be the right BJJ base for our family since we are new in town.
I started out by just taking my kids to the homeschool classes. They absolutely love it and ask daily if it's a gym day. It did not take long for me to join myself. Every coach is very friendly and welcoming. Professor Ryan is great with the kids and he is very informative and patient with beginners like me learning BJJ.
Can't say enough positives about my experience here. If you've ever wanted to learn Jiu Jitsu, have fun doing it, and get great exercise all at the same time, you've got to try out New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu. A very welcoming atmosphere with high level coaching. This was something I'd always thought about trying and finally put the excuses aside and gave it a try. I'm glad I did, training in the air conditioned facility was a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to more training! NB is lucky to have this place!
I recently joined the Woman’s Program at NBJJ and I have to say I’m impressed by the quality of instruction and friendly and supportive atmosphere! The Coaches and Professor have been incredibly patient and encouraging to all the students. The community of women in the program is also amazing. Everyone is supportive and there’s a strong sense of camaraderie which makes it a great place to train. My husband and kids also train at NBJJ and they love it! They always brag about how fun and rewarding it’s been. Overall, I highly recommend NBJJ to anyone looking to learn self defense skills, get a great workout, and become part of an empowering and supportive jujitsu community.
My kiddos and I are members of NBJJ and it's so much fun! The kids stay engaged, the instructors are patient with them, and flexible if the kiddos need more instruction. I've noticed a big change in my children's confidence and ability to do more physical activity. For myself, I enjoy training here as well. It can be nerve wrecking rolling with mostly men but NBJJ offers a women's only class on Saturdays. It's so much fun no matter if you go during the week (co-ed) or on Sat. I feel more confident in my ability to defend myself if a situation were to arise. I highly recommend Ryan and his crew of instructors. Also, his dad is a sweetie and makes my day every time I walk in the gym 😄
We currently started attending the homeschooling class at New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu, hands down this place is amazing. The coaches are awesome; they have big hearts, lots of patience & willing to go the extra mile to show our children the proper techniques. I highly recommend New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu!!!
Love coach Ryan and Pete and everyone at NB Jiu Jitsu. My 10 and 11 yr old boys have been taking the twice a week homeschoolers class for a few months and LOVE it. The coaches are so good with the kids and really make it fun while learning new techniques each class. 5 out of 5. Highly recommend.
I had an amazing experience at New Braunfels Jujitsu! Coach Ryan and coach Andrew are top-notch coaches who bring energy, enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge to each class. The group is incredibly supportive and friendly, and their laughter and positive attitude create a great atmosphere for learning. The drills were challenging yet everyone was willing to help explain the techniques to the smallest detail. It's clear that everyone is focused on making each other better. Overall, I had a fantastic time and I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to improve their Jujitsu skills. Don't hesitate to visit and become part of this fantastic group of people!
I took my 4 year old to the free trial class and let me tell you, this place is top notch. The owner Ryan, along with instructors Ben and Chris, were extremely welcoming and made Christian feel safe and he had such a blast. We ended up signing on for a year of classes♡

The staff is friendly and the instructor(s) are all top notch, very knowledgeable, patient and of course friendly which made my first few times attending comfortable. The staff and students will also help you reach your goal all while making new friends and getting in shape.
My kids love NBJJ! We make an effort to go twice a week and practice what we learn. It has really helped to get our kids more active! My younger daughter can’t wait to be old enough to participate! Coach Ryan wears them out with drills and then teaches skills. Ryan and his father Pete have to be the nicest people I have ever met. I wish my work schedule allowed me to attend the adult class.

I attend the adult classes here and have two children that attend class as well. I can't speak highly enough of Ryan and the instructors at this facility. They are extremely intelligent, proficient and professional. The environment here is challenging, enriching and will build your confidence. I had taken a break from training for years and recently decided to jump back in with my boys. I do not regret it one bit. One of the best decisions I made recently is joining this constructive and positive atmosphere.
As a collegiate athlete, and now parent of 3 children. I am often critical of extracurricular activities that programs offer to children for lack of proper instructed skill or the activity is not engaging enough. I can confidently say that New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu checks all the boxes! A clean, safe, fun and high standards for proper Jiu Jitsu instruction. My children are learning the correct techniques and are having a blast learning them! Ryan and all the other professors have integrity and are highly skilled in their craft and they know how to work with the children to make sure everyone is being safe, learning proper technique and most of all having fun! The owners of New Braunfels Jiu Jitsu are dedicated to bringing the best quality teaching to New Braunfels - I am truly impressed.
Amazingly kind people! My kids are in the homeschool class. It's bvery affordable even having 3 of them in it. They love the class and the instructors. They learn alot and get their crazies out! We love NBBJJ!
I am so grateful to have found this place! This is our kids' first experience with martial arts, and I was a little nervous before we started. As soon as I walked in, Mr. Pete put us at ease, learned our names, shared our stories. Then we went into class and were welcomed by Professor Ryan and his team of instructors. Warm, inviting, welcoming, fun. He really connects with our kids, encourages sportsmanship, manners, and overall physical activity. He's funny and engaging. Our kids really love it, and it's fun just to watch the class as an observer. I'm thinking of joining myself. You can tell these folks love people and are skilled with teaching Jiu Jitsu.
This Academy is a great place for the entire family to come work out, stay healthy and fit. The mats are clean, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the price is very right.
