We have been taking our daughter, now 7, to Motive for close to three years now. We love Professor Anthony, coach Cruze, and coach Gia, they really have become like family to us. Ellie has become a great jiu jitsu athlete through their teaching and support. It’s a great group of kids, we are happy to be apart of the Motive family!
Posted 11 months agoGreat place, great coaches. Patient and detailed with the students. I love the activity and structure for our son.
Motive Jiu-Jitsu changed my now 11 year old daughters life!!! She joined around 8 years old, and at that time really didn't have much by the way of friends. She also didn't have much confidence and wouldn't stand up for herself which left her susceptible to being bullied at times. Needless to say, it was hard to watch as a father because I felt helpless. Less than a year into training with Proffessor Anthony, her personality had gone through the roof with confidence. By that time she had a solid Jiu-Jitsu foundation, and had even begun to compete and win in tournaments! And it all started to show big in her personal life, personal relationships, and just overall happiness. Today my daughter continues to thrive, battle, and win Jiu-Jitsu tournaments! She is still that sweet girl that she always was, but in addition is now very proud and confident. She no longer has problem making friends and now quickly and easily stands up for herself and others. The discipline and confidence of learning Jiu-Jitsu has also spilled over into school as she's a straight A student. I can't stress how much I recommend having a child join Motive. Just recently we signed up our 6 year old son and I look forward to proudly watch him grow into this journey as well. Professor Anthony is awesome with the kids! He has a great balance of fun, and learning a real effective martial art that you will keep with you for life. For the competitive minded, Proffesor Anthony encourages optional tournaments for his students where he prepares and coaches them for succes. Team Motive has often finished tournaments in the top 5 out of 45 plus schools. Words can't describe how proud I am to watch my daughter compete and perform complex submissions that I've watched pro fighters in the UFC do! 4 years ago I never would have even imagined her doing the things she does now!!!
Coach Anthony is wonderful! He and Gia have so much patience for these little kids and our daughter (6 years old) has learned so much in only 5 months. I'm so glad they are here and 100% recommend them. They are building skills and toughness for life.
My son has been training here for a year and a half and absolutely loves coming! He has learned so many skills which have translated both on the mat as well as at home and in school. The coaches are all amazing and show the kids how to learn new techniques while having fun, and also working hard. Disciplined and high expectations, but not intimidating - my son has such respect for Professor Anthony and all the coaches.
So worth it! My boys aged 6 and 9 have been taking classes here for the last few years. When we travel to visit family, my boys play wrestle their cousins (who don't have jujitsu experience)and my boys are SOOOO GOOODD!!!! They make their cousins tap out within seconds and that's how I know the class is making a difference!!! These are life long skills and I promised my boys that I'll pay for them to attend classes until they are at least 18!!! We love the coaches too, they are the best!

Anthony is an exceptional instructor! He provides clear instruction with a fun atmosphere for both kids and adults!
Professor Anthony is an amazing instructor for all ages and walks of life. My son and I have both trained under him for over a year. Coach Gia and Coach Cruz (Anthony’s son and daughter) also teach classes. This whole family is amazing with children AND beginner adults. One of the best decisions I have ever made was starting my journey at Motive.
Coach Anthony is invested in the growth and knowledge he gives to his students. If you want your children to be taught the right way or you want to learn yourself, this is the place.
Awesome place for adults and kids to grow their self defense skills!!
Our son has been attending the motive for two years! Professor Anthony and all other coaches are amazing.
Everything about this academy is amazing!
After years of wondering, I took the plunge back in May. Never had so much fun "working out" the mental aspect might even be more enjoyable than the physical. Everyone who trains here is super positive, supportive, and helpful. Seriously - the best time to start Jiu-Jitsu is 10 years ago, but the next best time is today. Come roll with us!
Dropped in, clean mats, friendly people and good vibes. Thank you 🙏
Owners are a wonderful family!! We have been going for 2 and a half years for our 7 year old son.
I have been a student here for 8 months and there is no limit to the great things that I could say about Motive Jiu Jitsu Academy. If you are someone interested in learning about martial arts and looking to change your health in a major way, this IS the place. I and others that go here every week, multiple times a week, are living proof of that. Like everything in life, If you're serious and willing to put in the time and effort, this art and this academy will change you for the better. Professor Anthony is nothing short of an excellent teacher. Demonstrations performed before drills are well thought out, explained in depth, and gone over multiple times before we are paired up with other students. During the time we drill, we are given pointers by Anthony as he observes how we're performing the curriculum. The other students are very welcoming. Attitudes are checked at the door and we're all there for the same purpose.. to learn to fight and to better ourselves in a great environment as well as to have fun! A classes are normally broken up into three components.. 1.) Warmup. Best cardio ever. You will not find this kind of a workout at a gym running on a treadmill. 2.) Drills. I'm still a white belt (for now..), so I'm taking many of the beginner courses during the week so I can advance. There are also courses for more advanced topics and these are encouraged for white belts that are over 3 stripes or higher. These courses go outside the normal requirements for blue belt exam, hence why they're a different type of class. There are also courses for learning street fighting. A little more outside the original requirements for blue belt, but a great class none the less. 3.) Live rolling - This can be equated to sparing in other forms of martial arts. We take what we learn and try to best other students in the class. Duration of the class can be anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours depending on the complexity of the curriculum for that day.
Amazing experience great training amazing technique and great instructors very proud to represent them
Awesome academy! The instructor teaches solid technique that isn't watered down and is applicable in any situation. When I first walked in, everyone was very friendly and introduced themselves and made me feel welcome! That's probably the second best thing about the school. Everyone made me feel like part of the team. In short, great instructor, clear instructions, clean academy and family friendly atmosphere.
My son is learning quickly, and is challenged more and more every week. Great coaches in a professional setting
Great atmosphere! The coaches are very patient and extremely knowledgable. Great place to learn for all ages. My family cannot get enough!
My two boys 3 1/2 and 5 love Jiu-Jitsu! They have such a great time and the coaches make it fun for kids of all ages. They are learning respect, confidence, and how to defend themselves. There are some older kids in their beginner class and it is great for them to watch the big kids because they learn a lot from them as well. Send your kids and soon they will be telling everyone about Crazy Horse, Snake Bite, and Steam Roller (fun names for Jiu-Jitsu moves that they learn)
My kids have been studying with Coach Anthony for two years. There is a great methodology to the classes, using games to teach basic skills and keep the little ones engaged, progressing to "live battles" to further demonstrate use of those skills in real-world situations. Coach does an excellent job leveling these activities to different age and ability groups. By emphasizing his "rules of engagement" at every class, Coach teaches the kids not only to defend themselves but also to stand up for others, along with helping them build vital self-confidence for the looming teenage years.
Best instructor and greatest coach ever! As a woman this place taught me so much that I can use in my daily life to feel safe when I am out. As a mother, Coach Anthony took the time to teach my son not only the basics but also taught him self-esteem. He has used this to stand up to bullies in Middle School and to stand-up for his friends.
I have been taking my 3 boys to motive for the last 6 months. They absolutely love it. The coach is extremely knowledgable and patient with the children. My kids look forward to going to class every week. Thanks Motive!!!
Great experience! Made friends right away, and now I feel confident when I walk around in public. Very friendly staff and members, in the best shape of my life right now at motive jiu jitsu!
