  Our family of four have now been attending this academy for 8 years. Both our children started at the academy at 3 years old in the kinder grapplers program. Not only have they grown in their knowledge with self defense and confidence, but the discipline has carried into them being successful in school and sports programs. For myself, I have loved learning self defense and feel as though it is a very welcoming and safe space for women. 10 out of 10 recommend trying a class!

  Our experience has been incredible so far. My son is 5 and we have been looking for a facility for him to start training in. We were greeted and welcomed immediately and invited for him to try the class. We signed him up just yesterday and watched his class he was so proud and happy! Excited for the journey.

  Great place! We've had our kids enrolled for 1.5 years. They've learned so much about discipline and respect while still having fun. I have no doubt that they have self defense skills if they found themselves in a scary situation.

  I have two boys, ages 11 and 7, who are in year 3 of training. Ronnie is a great teacher and mentor who cares for his students. Classes are very well instructed and organized. In addition to polishing their skills in self-defense, they have learned how to be more disciplined, and they have also improved their social skills by interacting with other students. Thank you, Ronnie, and the rest of the team for caring for your students and making the classes fun while crafting their skills.

  Great place to train and very family oriented. New people are welcome with open arms. Overall a great place to train for self defense and advancing your jiu-jitsu skills. Great place for all ages as the classes are very flexible.

  Delaware Combat Sports is led by one of the best Gracie Jiu Jitsu practitioners I have ever met and had the pleasure of training with. Ronnie is a phenomenal competitor and a genuinely nice person. If you are looking for great self defense, sport or MMA training then this is the place to go.

  My whole family trains at DCS and we love it! It brings us great piece of mind that our daughters are learning self defense techniques. The people that train there are wonderful and you will not find a Professor more dedicated to Gracie jiu-jitsu, his schools, and students. All of the instructors are awesome and the facilities are well kept. Training is offered for ages 3 and up (youth and adult classes). There are three locations: Dover, Camden, and Middletown, so there are options if proximity is a deciding factor. We feel very fortunate to have found DCS and intend to train there for many years to come!

  Shady business! BEWARE!!! First, they are extremely nice, have a great instructor and nice facilities. Couldn't be happier with the facilities and the training. That was all great, but I signed a 3 year contract which was up in September. I haven't been going to classes in over a year but was willing to honor my end of the contract. October comes and they charged me again. I emailed them and they told me the contract auto renews. Cool, you got an extra month out of me. I asked to be canceled immediately and after many emails with no response I finally got a confirmation. November comes and they charge me AGAIN. I call the owner Ronnie who advises he will take care of it and tells me that a third party company handles their billing and its possible it was just overlooked. Company finally responds to my email and again confirms my cancelation and advises they will refund me for November. We are now in December and they have charged me AGAIN and still has not issued me a refund. Stay away from this business unless you want to be committed for life!

  I gave a 1 Star review not because Ronnie is a bad teacher/instructor or due to the quality of this school. It is a great place to learn and my daughter loved it. My daughter didn’t attend for 5 months due to a fractured knee (gymnastics not from this school). I continued to pay based on the contract. I did however refuse to continue paying with the school closed during this Stay at Home order from the State of Delaware. I didn’t agree to online classes and discussed this with Jenn. She was extremely rude and aggressive. I was advised they were going to contact their attorney to sue me for the fees. I mean really, take me to court for $276 (this is what I owed minus a $50 overcharge on their part). Also beware of their contract and the high score of 4.9 on google reviews. Their reviews are only this high because their contract states they will sue you for $150,000 if you say anything bad in a review. They threatened to sue me if I left this review. It is illegal for them to include anything like that in their contracts. So they are breaking the law. Gag orders in contracts like theirs breaks the Consumer Review Fairness Act and the FTC regulates this. I recommend the classes and Ronnie as a teacher/instructor. I would however recommend caution when it comes to how they run their business. They are underhanded and aggressive.
