Since joining Gracie Jiujitsu Smyrna, I have gained so much. Not only knowledge and skills on the mat, but friendships and a sense of belonging that I have felt since day one. The instructors are thorough, detailed, and patient. The classes are taught on a rotating schedule, so you always know what you’ll be practicing. And if you do miss a class and don’t want to wait until it comes back around, there’s an online library with videos of all the techniques. The women’s class fosters a safe and compassionate environment that is both fun and trauma informed. I cannot recommend this academy enough. If you’re considering it, you should definitely join!

The self defense techniques that are taught in the Women Empowered program are easy to understand and execute. I highly recommend this program to all women especially those between the ages of 16-20.

I can't say enough great things about Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Smyrna! The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, creating a positive and safe environment for everyone. My son started taking jiu jitsu here in the little champs group about 6 months ago and he loves it. The instructors are fantastic with the kids, and mix in important lessons such as manners, discipline, and citizenship along the way. Every class they play some sort of game that involves the kids running around and burning energy, and then they spend time each class learning or working on one move. The format is great, my son always wants to go, and we've noticed a real change in his confidence level. We owe a lot of that to Gracie Jiu Jitsu Smyrna!

The staff and all instructors are so friendly and welcoming! They go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable at all times. I went to a seminar they hosted and signed up my 2 daughters and myself a few days later and so glad I did. Even my teenager are enjoying every class! Highly recommend Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Smyrna!

I just finished taking the 6 week Women’s Empowerment course. It was incredible. I started with their Self Defense seminar and continued on from there. I highly recommend attending any class here. The instructors are warm, welcoming, clear and fun to be around. I left every class feeling stronger and more confident. The knowledge and compassion they have for their business (which felt more like a family) is amazing. Jen and Howard, thank you for making these self defense accessible to our community. And thank you for giving your students a safe (and fun) environment to be in such vulnerable situations. I appreciate it all.

I’m so thoroughly impressed with his teaching ability I can’t wait to visit again. The explanation of why we do certain things was amazing, his professionalism impressive.

I’ve only been going a few months but immediately regret not starting sooner. That’s a good thing. The instructors and even the other students are incredibly patient, helpful and knowledgeable. I’m grateful to be a student and excited about the future. Jiu Jitsu itself is amazing but learning it in the right environment is another thing entirely. Just go for a class and see for yourself. Learning Jiu Jitsu in the right environment like this one can improve all areas of your life, not just self defense.

Delaware Bushido Academy is a great place for adults and kids to train and learn self- defense. Howard Steele, the owner and head instructor is very knowledgeable, motivating, and consistently provides informative, engaging classes. The training area is always maintained in a clean neat manner. We have trained under Howard for 3 years and it has been a great experience. My kids love going, and I can see them actively using the life lessons that are mixed in with the self-defense instruction. I’ve had significant improvements in my health since training, and enjoy the friendships made with other members. The overall atmosphere is positive and friendly. I highly recommend checking out the Delaware Bushido Academy!

Delaware Bushido Academy is a top notch martial art facility with a great group of instructors and members. Howard Steele is the owner and head instructor at Delaware Bushido Academy. My kids and I have trained under Howard for several years now in Gracie Jiu Jitsu and I can honestly say that he is not only my instructor, mentor but a "friend". There is no better place around if you want to learn real self defense in a safe, positive, clean and encouraging atmosphere.

Delaware Bushido Academy is a great place for all ages to learn martial arts. Howard Steele is one of the most genuinely good people I have ever met and he truly cares for everyone that walks into the school. My daughter loves the Little Champs jiu jitsu class. I started in the Gracie Combatives class and have also moved into the Isshinryu Karate class as well, and my wife is doing the Women's Empowered class. This is a great place for families and is very welcoming. If you are looking for a great place to start (or return to) martial arts, this is THE place to go. You will not be disappointed!

We started our oldest son in martial arts here a few years ago. We then started our youngest son in martial arts a bit after that. Now my wife and I train jiu jitsu there. We have all benefited tremendously from the programs. Our sons have learned how to defend themselves, verbally, and if necessary, physically, from bullies. My wife and I are confident with self defense techniques should we ever need them. For people of all ages and abilities, I would highly recommend the martial arts programs at Delaware Bushido Academy.

I have been out of training Jiu Jitsu for about 15 years.. I wanted to get back into training as well as giving my 10 year old daughter a place to train. Now over the years I have been injured overseas and have a few permanent handicaps, so I went to a few academy’s to check them out and see if they would be a great place for me and my daughter to train.. now all of theses places are great academies but what drew me to the Delaware Bushido Academy is the way Howard Steele and all the instructors interacted with the kids in the Bully Proof program and how much the kids seemed to enjoy learning Jiu Jitsu!! That made me very happy to see this!!! I also sat in on one of the Gracie Combative’s classes and observed how the techniques were broke down and then drilled so that it becomes muscle memory. So that if ever need it in a street fight you could defend yourself properly with confidence!!! So in my opinion if you want an academy with amazing instructors and a safe and amazing learning environment you should definitely check out Howard Steele and all the instructors at the Delaware Bushido Academy!!! And see if it is the right fit for you as it was for me and my little girl!!!!

It's the best for our family! We all participate in something they offer. Karate. Jujitsu the posi fit class. We meet awesome families. And have made friendships simply from socializing with other parents. The leadership is always upbeat, positive and fun. We love it and are literally there 5 days a week. All the instructors are professional and give 100% to my kids. I appriciate them all and love what they have to offer there.

The new location is much larger and is very nice and professional. Very knowledgeable instructors who work with you at your own pace. It is a little warm in the training area, but I understand that issue is being delt with.
