I have never had anything but a great experience here. I started as a white belt 20 years ago with Chris at McCunes Martial Arts and now as a blackbelt, I still call this place home. Chris is very knowledgeable in jiu-jitsu with a long history with his professor, Rigan Machado, but he also knows how to articulate well for everyone so they understand what he is talking about. He makes everyone feel at home and it is very much a family atmosphere. I highly recommend!
My daughter and I have been training at McCunes for about five years now. Excellent instruction/coaches under Professor Chris McCune. His black belts are well known across central Minnesota/Wisconsin.
I stopped by for a class and open mat when I was visiting from New Hampshire. My training partners were welcoming and great to roll with. Josh is a black belt and was our instructor for the day. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Even had the opportunity to roll with him at the end of the session. Overall great experience. Definitely plan on stopping by again when I visit.
Very experienced and patient instructors!
Started training here almost two years ago and I was instantly welcomed-in and taught by friendly/knowledgeable instructors. The positive atmosphere/culture is very prominent at this gym and it truly makes it feel like home away from home.
Chris McCune is a brilliant Jiujitsu instructor and a really nice human being. I am a 1st degree black belt with 16 years in, Chris gave me some concepts and ways to improve that will take a couple years to incorporate into my game. A real gentleman who was there 30 years ago with the Machados. It’s hard to find true masters, but I’m here to say Chris McCune is a master of jiujitsu. Respect!
Been with this school for the longest of any gyms that I used to train at. There is a great atmosphere, there is knowledgeable instructors, great training partners, and a great facility with heavy bags & gym equipment.
I was in town for a long weekend and reached out to see if I could attend classes and am happy I did. Great group of people and very welcoming. I have only been training BJJ for about 4 months but everyone was super accommodating, helpful and friendly. Got to roll with a bunch of new people. Check them out if you have a chance.
I visited McCune's on 4/11/23 and took the evening No-gi Jiu Jitsu class. Friendly staff and students, facility was cleanly with plenty of mat space. Coaching was great, Sean was extremely knowledgeable and gave concise instruction. Rolling here was awesome, lots of skilled practitioners!
Great school, I was there for the jiu Jitsu class and everybody was very welcoming and respectful, would definitely recommend.
Simply the best place to train jiu jitsu!
Sifu Chris McCune is a great instructor with several years of experience. This is the martial arts school that other black belts choose to study in for a good reason because the combination of Kung Fu San Soo with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides great self-defence training.
You will not find another person like Chris. He is truly a 1 of a kind human being, who has changed more lives then anyone could ever count. And this is on top of thee top notch instruction you recieve here. Thank you to everyone here who has help me to succeed in my life, this will always be my family.
My son loves the staff and other patrons. He feels very at home at McCune's.
I am eager to learn more about martial arts. I didn't realize how complimentary martial arts can be to my kettlebell and weightlifting routines. I look forward to my upcoming classes and workshops!
I've been a member at McCunes for about 2-3 years and I have never had a bad experience going there. The mood is casual yet intense. It really is the best work out you can get.
Been going for around a month or two. First time ever taking any martial arts and I can't see myself going anywhere else. All of the teachers accept you with open arms and always make sure to help whenever possible. No big egos here just students willing to learn! Sifu is always willing to work with his students whether it be with the combat side of things or finances. I'll stay for as long as I can!
Great place to train Bjj, MMA, Muay Thai. Sifu Chris Mccune is one of the best instructors around .
I am a 10 year veteran of the United States Marines and currently a Police Officer. I have studied here exclusively due to the practicality and real world application taught here. On more than 1 occasion I have used the lessons taught by Sifu McCune in a life or death scenario and lived thanks to him. If you are looking for a solid group that are guaranteed to become lifelong friends while learning things that can absolutely save your life, this is the place to go.
If you're looking for jiu-jitsu, mma, muay thai or kung fu san soo- McCunes is your place. I train bjj there- Chris is a fantastic instructor, and there is a good mix of belt levels in regular attendance. Come give McCunes a try!
Top level instruction, amazing atmosphere, awesome open set up, and stud team totally worth the visit!!!
Been training there for two years great training and great people!
Great place to learn Bjj.
Excellent jiu-jitsu and fun atmosphere
Chris Mccune is 3rd degree Black belt under Rigan Machado and a very VERY skilled instructor. This school has a great welcoming family atmosphere that is full of people of all ages. Whether you're looking for self defense, to get in shape or to become a serious competitor, this school is for you.
One of the best places to practice and enjoy Martial Arts. The place becomes your family. If you are training as a hobby or you want to be the best in the world this is the place to start your training. Sifu Chris McCune has a great team in place for your success!
McCune's Martial Arts is the best place for Jiu-jitsu in the State of Minnesota. I used to train at the Academy and I switched to McCune's after my free week trial. Chris is a 3rd degree Black Belt under Rigan Machado, I highly recommend checking this place out.
Best place in Minnesota to train in Brazilian Jiu jitsu Sifu Chris McCune - A 3rd degree black belt under Rigan Machado. Try this place. You will love it! 35 + years in martial arts, and I'm starting over again! 😉
One of the best places around for MMA, Jiu Jitsu, Kung Fu, and Muay Thai training. Very knowledgeable and experienced coaches as well as the owner, Chris McCune himself. I have been training here for about a year now and I love it. Not only do you learn martial arts, but you gain a new family in your coaches and training partners.
This is the school I call home. In 2+ years of training here I've improved drastically in practical defese techniques, and in overall health and well being. I'm proud to be part of the team!
I've been training with Chris McCune for years now, and the experience has been life changing. The atmosphere is serious but completely comfortable. The guys I train with are dedicated and extremely encouraging, not only physically but mentally. If you want to learn BJJ, you couldn't find a better location or coaches.
Great Gym! top level training, and good team mates. What more could you ask for.
This is the best place to learn martial arts. Everybody is friendly and helpful. You feel great with your achievements from day 1. I can't wait to go back to train after each class.
Chris and his team make this gym like a 'Home Away from Home'. The higher ranks do an amazing job helping you progress and do NOT simply 'beat up on you', making you feel confident from day 1 even if you have no prior Martial Arts experience. If you have any 'reservations' about joining, just do it. You won't regret it. *Source- No prior experience, been training here for around 6 months.
weird place, other “students” were rude to my son for being the new kid and when i confronted owner Chris McCune about it he seemed to brush it off and seem like i was wasting his time. Don’t recommend and won’t be going back
place looked alright, owner of mccune martial arts Chris McCune was pretty rude to my daughter during her lessons which i had recently signed her up for. will not be going back and would not recommend
Did some research on the place before i decided to sign up. seems like the owner has had to be sued for money before and has a bad financial history. i spoke to mccune in person and he seemed like an odd fella. decided to not take my business here, wouldn’t recommend
Classes are unorganized and unstructured. I had to cancel my membership because I was moving and was told I would no longer be charged. I was charged 2 additional months for $130 each after they confirmed that I wouldn't be charged. This is not a well run facility and organization.
