If I could give more stars I would. Our 7 year old has been with the gym for some time now. When he first started he was nervous and only took part in the games side of the training. He was never pressured or made feel less than for not sparring and because of this he was able to do it in his own time (now sparring is his favourite part of training). He has developed so much confidence in himself, made some amazing friends and has found his tribe that he looks forward to seeing every week. The coaches are amazing. They are patient, caring and they know what they're doing. If you are in two minds as to if you should send your child to Maze, all I can say is go for it. They have seating on the side so you can stay and watch your child training and your child will be able to go at the pace they are comfortable at.

Everything you’d want and need for a martial arts school. Great instructor in David who has created an extremely welcoming and friendly community of people of all ages, genders, body types. Id highly recommend anyone starting jiu jitsu, no matter your age. Not only is it the most fun sport I’ve ever done, it’s the most challenging, has facilitated the most growth and relieves the most stress. No where better in Athlone to start this journey than with David and Maze BJJ

I joined this club as a complete beginner earlier this year and I couldn’t ask for a better place to train. The coach is knowledgeable, patient, and create a really welcoming atmosphere. The classes are well-structured, so you’re always learning and improving, and there’s a great balance between technique and rolling. What makes this place special is the community. Everyone, from the coach to training partners, is supportive and encouraging. Even with a busy family life, the atmosphere here has kept me motivated and consistent. It’s also been incredible to see the impact on my daughter. Since joining, her confidence and determination have grown massively. She’s already entered competitions, shown unbelievable courage, and even brought home wins — but more importantly, she’s developed self-belief and resilience that carry over into her everyday life. If you’re considering starting jiu-jitsu — for yourself, your kids, or both — I can’t recommend this club highly enough. It’s truly life-changing.

I’ve been training with Maze BJJ for around 9 months now. David, and all the coaches at Maze, have been nothing short of amazing. There is a great sense of community and togetherness alongside the gym. It’s been great learning a new skill, improving my fitness, and making some new friends all in a hygienic and well managed gym. Couldn’t recommend them more.

Have been training in maze for nearly 4 months and I've since had my first competition and fights. I have to say I've never trained or been mentored by someone so cool calm and connected. David the head coach is a very easy going and caring man both inside and outside the gym. The atmosphere is amazing so much so I've even brought my cousin and girlfriend down to train. I couldn't recommend the gym more highly.
