    I’ve been fortunate enough to travel and train jiu jitsu in gyms in Hawaii to Louisiana and all the way up in Alaska and I can honestly say none have been more welcoming than the instructor and practitioners at Malandros Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If you’re brand new to the art or have some training experience it’s absolutely worth your time stopping in and getting on the mats with these professionals

    I was between jobs for a few months and needed a place to train BJJ while I was still in New Paltz. I found out about Virg after trying some other places in the area. His approachability, knowledge, and love for the art of BJJ attracted me to start taking classes. At Malandros, Virg has cultivated an amazing environment for training and the group that attends is wonderful and supportive. The space is also very well maintained which was important to me. I have learned so much in the short time that I have had the pleasure of training here and wish I could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to train in the area; I have nothing but good things about Malandros!

    I’ve been training here with Virg and the rest of the BJJ fam for over a year (maybe two? what is time?), and it’s been excellent all-around. Great training, great people. Virg is patient and kind, with a wealth of information and detailed technique that he can break down into broad strokes very well. I don’t think I’ve ever left a class not feeling better than I did at the start (just more tired, lol).

    I've had the good fortune of training in several different academies. They were all fantastic in their own way and I've had some amazing teachers. But have to say that Virge is in a class all his own. His deep understanding of technique, his attention to detail, his clear and concise teaching methods, and his uncanny ability to individualize instruction for each student - it's quite remarkable. You feel like you're getting a private every class. If you've ever thought of taking a class, do yourself a favor and check out Malandros in Gardiner. And wherever you end up in your journey...cheers
