Excellent classes for self defence & fitness taught by an excellent group of instructors with vast experience.
I’ve been training at Jissenkai Japanese Kickboxing since November, and it’s been a really rewarding experience. The classes are well-structured, with a combination of technique, sparring and general fitness. Shihan Prasanna Fernando is an experienced and knowledgeable teacher who helps each student improve at their own pace. I’ve noticed steady progress in both my technique and overall fitness. The other students are always friendly and encouraging, particularly during the challenging but fun grading sessions. It’s a welcoming environment where everyone, regardless of experience level, is made to feel included. If you’re looking for a place to learn kickboxing in a positive environment, I’d definitely recommend Jissenkai.
I joined in recently and I'm already loving this place. Everyone wants to help you and you will actually feel that you are getting better at kickboxing and karate. 💯 recommended
Kickboxing training with Shihan Prasanna Fernando has been such a fun and rewarding experience for me! It’s a great way to stay active, relieve stress, and build confidence all at the same time. I would recommend it without any hesitation!
I have been attending Jissenkai Japanese Kickboxing for three months and I have learned many techniques thanks to the wonderful teaching by Shihan Prasanna Fernando. A safe dojo environment and supportive instructor, where you are gently encouraged to improve and work to your strengths. I look forward to continuing my training and I highly recommend Jissenkai Japanese Kickboxing classes for all abilities, for an improved body, mind and spirit!
An absolutely wonderful gym led by such a wonderful and supportive team. Shihan Prasanna Fernando is an inspiring leader and I'm looking forward to training with and learning from Sempai Sathmi Fernando. Thank you and I encourage all to try out, no matter your experience.
Posted 2 years agoOnly started the Japanese Kick Box classes a few weeks ago, my friends and I have been really enjoying the experience, even though we have no previous background in martial arts. Prasanna is very lovely and knowledgeable, looking forward to continuing the classes and getting more confident in the techniques. I would highly recommend his classes to everyone 😊
I had a brilliant trial class! Everyone was friendly, the instructor was amazing; he really focused on technique, and I loved the supportive atmosphere. The place was clean, and safety was a priority. I'm excited to sign up for more sessions!
Posted 2 years agoTraining at Jissenkai with Shihan Fernando is brilliant. The classes are a great mix of karate, boxing and fitness. Jissenkai is a style which brings together the discipline and precision of karate with the power and utility of kickboxing. There is also a focus on fitness so many times we will break up practice with push ups, squats and stretches to tone our bodies, making us better able to perform the kicks and take blows. Sparring is included and is one of my favourite sections as I get to pit the skills I've learned in a live, test environment against other students and the teacher himself. Shihan Fernando has a calm style and is always ready with a gem of knowledge from his decades teaching martial arts. The class is a 5 minute walk from Central station so easy to attend after work. I would definitely recommend this class.
Posted 3 years agoI have recently attended my first session and I really enjoyed it. Sensei is lovely, and the session was a good al-rounder in terms of training: Strength, Speed and Technique. Look forward to the next class. (If you're like me and get lost on the way, for reference, to get to the stairs for the first floor: go down to the middle of the corridor, take a right (down three small steps), and then continue straight to the back of the building).
