This is the only cool place in Seattle. The only third space where you build a real community. At the intersection of the major transit lines- the Link and the street car. They transformed me from zero skill into someone who walks freely through downtown at night. Diverse and welcoming. No egos. They don’t hand out promotions easily which is how you know it’s legit. I left Seattle but swing by when I visit because it’s so good.
Identity Jiu-Jitsu is the epitome of excellence in martial arts training. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The instructors are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also deeply passionate about imparting their expertise to students of all levels. The sense of camaraderie and support within the dojo creates an environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to excel. Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or a beginner, Identity Jiu-Jitsu offers top-notch instruction tailored to individual needs. The facilities are immaculate, providing a safe and conducive space for learning and growth. I cannot recommend Identity Jiu-Jitsu highly enough for anyone seeking to embark on a journey of self-improvement, discipline, and empowerment through the art of jiu-jitsu
I joined for a drop-in while travelling for work. Everyone was super welcoming, with excellent training partners and a unique style of class for submission grappling. I would definitely train here with any of the members again!
I have never played a combat sport in my entire life and now I am almost a year in this gym. I don't pay for any subscription except this one lol. The people are just sooo nice and kind. They want the best for your growth and teach you how to find your style and what works the best for you. They consistently seek feedback to improve your experience. There are always community events that you get to know each other better. It feels both a place for growth and nourishment, both physically and mentally. If anyone gives it a try, please come say hi to me! I am there 3 nights a week usually. :)
I was referred by a friend and tried the free trials at Identity Jiu-Jitsu. Started with the beginner program and found the coaches to be helpful and patient. The community is welcoming, and the nogi class, though intimidating at first, turned out to be fun, especially with their ecological class design. The coaches are always looking to improve the class experience. Great gym overall!
I checked out about 5 other gyms in the area before I came here. This gym teaches both gi and no gi and the no gi classes follow an ecological dynamics approach. Great instruction from all the coaches. But most importantly the gym puts effort into making a great community. The teammates are very skilled and everyone is very friendly. Best gym I have ever trained at!
Really great place to learn Jui jitsu!! Tons of loving people who are here to help you learn and grow. Great at working with beginners and I’ve I learned a lot about the culture behind Jui jitsu here as well!
After trying multiple jiujitsu gyms in Seattle, I chose identity jiujitsu! It’s exceptionally clean, has a welcoming environment, and all levels can thrive here. 100% recommend!
The instructors are awesome. Great at explaining the moves and super nice and friendly. Cleaning nicely set up gym that makes this sport available for everyone.
Identity Jiu-Jitsu is a great place to learn. Atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, people are friendly and eager to help and provide tips. Highly recommend giving the gym a shot!
This jiu-jitsu gym is owned and operated by members of the AAPI community. When I first considered starting BJJ in Seattle, I had reservations because some places can be quite intimidating. However, that's not the case here! Everyone is welcoming and very encouraging.
Identity Jiu Jitsu has made a major impact in the community in the short time they have been operating. Over the past 10+ months, I have seen them consistently grow their gym with an impressive retention rate.
The head instructor Phi is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind to his students and his fellow instructors are similarly competent.
Identity Jiu Jitsu is a fantastic place to train martial arts. The instructors are knowledgeable and passionate about their work, providing a supportive and encouraging environment for students to grow and improve their skills. The variety of classes, including yoga, offers something for everyone and keeps training exciting and challenging. The location in the International District is convenient and easily accessible. Overall, I highly recommend Identity Jiu Jitsu to anyone looking to train in martial arts and develop their physical and mental wellness.
I recently joined the International District's first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The gym is well-equipped with top-of-the-line equipment and has two showers for convenience. But what really stands out is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone, from the instructors to the students, is incredibly supportive and always willing to help. I highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in learning BJJ or improving their skills.
love this gym! the coaches are so patient and hardworking. it can be intimidating to try jiu jitsu as a girl but everyone is so kind and welcoming that you really feel like you’re there to grow and learn together.
it helps that the facilities are organized and well kept. a lot of equipment for weight lifting and cardio in a separate area so there’s something for whatever it is you want to work on.
would highly recommend for those looking to improve themselves! can’t wait to see what’s ahead :)
This is a very well run gym that offers a welcoming environment that is curated from the staff and all of its members. Everyone here is friendly and is very encouraging of newcomers. The facility has everything you need, plenty of mat space, bathrooms and even showers. I would encourage anyone who is on the fence of diving into a new hobby to give this gym a chance.
