This gym is a great place for beginners and veterans alike. Coach Rich and Francisco work hard to make the gym an inviting place that promotes learning and improvement.
The best wrestling and jiu jitsu program in OC! I've never been somewhere so welcoming and supportive for everyone. Plus it's the only place I know of that has wrestling for adults; it's amazing to have an opportunity to get back into my sport again.
Everything is amazing about this club. I joined in July for wrestling and I am always 2 steps ahead in wrestling for school, Hybrid will teach you moves your high school will teach you a week later. Everyone there is amazing as well.
I have been training wrestling here and this place is so nice and people are so welcoming, classes are 🔥 with professor Rick! Fully recommend 💪🏼
This is an awesome place to learn and get better at grappling. Coach Rick is a great coach and is very passionate when teaching. I’ve been coming here on Mondays for wrestling at 7pm and have seen a lot of improvement in my game. Thank you Hybrid!
Great environment and even better people and coaches, I look forward to the wrestling practices every week they are very detailed and I learn something new every time. Favorite club I’ve been too by far!
Very high level technic and very chill environment
All the coaches here are friendly and professional. If you’re ever afraid about trying out boxing, wrestling or jujutsu,, don’t be. The coaches and everyone at the gym are really kind and understanding to all skill levels. Recommend giving this gym a try if you’re looking to get into martial arts.
The environment and ownership (Richard) are incredible. He has built a great facility and couldn't be happier being able to train under his coaching.
Hybrid Academy was awesome! They have a little something for everyone. I’m currently a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu. I’ve been a MMA, and Jiu Jitsu competitor for over 10 years and I found a lot of value in Rick’s personality and teaching style. Rick and the team are very friendly, welcoming, professional, and hard working. I really enjoyed the wrestling classes and love the wrestling/ AOJ influence in the Hybrid Jiu Jitsu style. Couldn’t ask for a better training environment. Thank you guys!
After visiting quite a few gyms in the area before choosing I chose Hybrid and I'm glad I did. The instructors focus on everyone's improvement and no one slips through the cracks. The gym has a positive and supportive atmosphere. They also offer a college discount, so if you're a student in the area I'd especially recommend checking it out
Hybrid is my home , this is where I'm building my boxing program , and this is where I was given The opportunity to be the head boxing coach by Rick arreola , I've built my first 2 fighters here who are now competing and having a team of over 20 new up and coming boxers and it has been all I've ever ask for to finally have my own gym and represent a professional classy gym when we go out and compete for the gold and iam proud but humbled to SAY ... SHIELDS UP 🛡️
Very beautiful place! It’s always so clean and organized in here. The team cares for each other & their dedication is so inspiring. Rick has been very respectful and so welcoming! They also have a true boxing coach, who cares for everyone’s well being and truly takes his time to better them in their skills.
I can’t say enough good things about Coach Rick and Hybrid Academy. I am new to MMA and impressed with the professionalism and impact Hybrid has made in my life. I would highly recommend to be part of the Hybrid Academy community
I've been coming to Hybrid Academy for about 5 months to learn jiu-jitsu. The coaches are patient, knowledgeable, and detail - technical oriented. I can't say enough good things about the culture of the gym. There is a camaraderie among the students. The more experienced students and upper belts are welcoming and helpful toward new learners. I've never felt intimidated or like I didn't belong. On a personal note... Since beginning, I've dropped a few pounds, I've become a bit more limber, and my cardio has improved.
Been coming here for jujitsu, and., boxing for about a few months . Not only are coach Rick and coach Anthony masters of their craft, they genuinely love to see their students grow physically and mentally . To take it one step further also, We grew spiritually together and, Became brothers in Christ in just a short amount of time , I got sharpened spiritually and mentally . I love Hybrid academy with all my heart . 1000% recommend . And it’s kid friendly ! Boxing , jujitsu , wrestling , nogu they do it all ! And on top of all that ! It beats any price membership I’ve ever seen ! Please give it a try ! It’s more than affordable , and knowledgeable!
I train as a student in Hybrid’s wrestling program and have nothing but good things to say about it. Coach Rick has decades of wrestling experience and has created an environment which allows new wrestlers to learn without getting thrown to the sharks immediately upon entering the program. Students are eased into learning the fundamentals of wrestling and once they are comfortable and have basic competency, are allowed to spar with other students of their level. In addition, there are other wrestlers there with a lot of experience who are allowed to train with one another at their level, and are even given a little bit more advanced techniques to work on. Coach Rick himself is a man of great character and moral standing and is someone anyone would want as a coach. Also, everyone else there is so helpful and supports each other in learning and getting better. You couldn’t ask for a better environment.
5+ all the way.
I’ve trained at another BJJ gym for 2 years prior to joining this one. After moving to this city, I had to look for another gym. This one was hands down much better. I was skeptical at first because the prices were by far the lowest than all the other gyms I looked at. But the coaches are top notch, and care about you as a person and your progression as a BJJ athlete. If I started here in my BJJ journey, I’m sure I would have progressed much faster with greater knowledge of the techniques and concepts of the sport. I normally go to morning classes since it fits my schedule better as a dad, and I was surprised by how consistently many others wake up early to train! The coaches and the people are really down to earth. Try a free class, you won’t regret it!
I signed up there about a month ago to start training jiu jitsu, and i couldn't have made a better choice gym! The environment the coaches have built is fantastic and every student there is welcoming and more than willing to help new students! The pricing is extremely fair compared to other gyms I looked at before, and the gym is very well kept and clean! They also have two changing rooms and a shower available! If you are looking for a place to learn jiu jitsu, wrestling or boxing, you will not find a better gym!
My 4 year old son takes the kids BJJ and wrestling classes and absolutely loves it! He is definitely the youngest and smallest in his classes but all the coaches are extremely patient with him and take their time to show him all the basic techniques. We are already seeing a difference in his attitude and listening skills at home. I highly recommend Hybrid Academy for all children!!
I've been going here about 5-6 months, and I do the jiujitsu, wrestling, and boxing classes. I am impressed by the emphasis on safety and detail to coaching. But what makes this place stand out the most is the gym culture. Everyone looks out for each other. All the students help each other improve. And there is an overall sense of brotherhood.
Hybrid Academy is a place many forms of self defense is taught such as gi Brazilian Jujitsu, no-gi Brazilian Jujitsu, wrestling and boxing the coaches here are very patient and polite to the students and the schedules at Hybrid are flexible overall the place is very enjoyable.
I started with this team a month ago and this place is just amazing. They have amazing structure for kids and adults and you can’t beat there prices for there classes
I’ve been taking my 7 year old son here for about 6 months now and he loves it. The instructors are great. If you have kids bring them in for a trial and see if they like it.
Amazing team environment at this gym! Coach Rick and Sam always look out for everyone here, and the members are all very welcoming and will help you through the fine details if you need help. They also offer a wrestling program which I could not find at any other dojo/gym. Come and train with us!
Love this place! My son is six years old, he’s been training there a few months now and really enjoys it! All the coaches are amazing working with the kids. They take the time to explain strategies and techniques and teach them great discipline! I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to learn jujitsu..
Amazing and friendly atmosphere! The coaches are great plus my wrestling and jiu-jitsu have been approving phenomenally ever since I joined Hybrid Academy!
Its a great gym for both beginners and more experienced people. Im relatively new to practicing Jiu Jitsu and in the little time that I’ve been here I believe i have fixed many of my mistakes. On top of this the coaches and members are great people. I highly recommend it especially for the college outreach program.
What a great experience with hybrid academy, from the coaches to my team mates They’re going to teach you well and you well know that from the beginning
Great prices, clean environment, friendly people, great coaches that take the time to explain in detail. Tried out several different bjj gyms but Hybrid was the best by far 👍🏻
If you're looking for a top notch gym that offers outstanding training in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing, Hybrid Academy is the place to go to. Coach Rick and Sam are amazing Jiu-Jitsu instructors who truly cares about their students and take the time to teach the students everything they need to know about BJJ. In addition, Coach Anthony is a spectacular coach when it comes to boxing as well as he always make sure to provide personalized attention and guidance to people like me who're new to boxing. Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or a complete beginner, the gym has a welcoming and supportive community and will help you gain the confidence and skills you need to take you to the next level. You will quite literally not be able to find any other gym that offers this type of top-notch training at these great Amazing prices. If you are a student trying to look for a gym to train at, I recommend checking Hybrid Academy out. Shields Up! Osss!🛡️☝️
First time trying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. They offered a free trial and I was hooked on the first day. Very inexpensive monthly membership fee for all the classes that are included. Free team Gi included on sign up As well. The gym has great coaches and is a nice facility. Coach Richard really makes the team feel like a family! I’m glad I chose to be a Hybrid!
This gym isn’t one to sleep on. I’ve been training here for a couple months now as is my 5 year old son and we were welcomed in as part of the Hybrid family from day 1. I can’t speak highly enough of all the coaches and peers that we train with, all of which are dedicated to improving our skills and ability to preform on and off of the mat. The gym offers a variety of times, including early morning sessions and evening sessions that work with even a busy schedule, which I appreciate. If you’re even thinking about it enough to read this review do yourself a favor and sign up for a class, it’ll change your life for the better! Shields up! Oss!
Great and caring Coaches They take time to explain techniques and correct etiquette on and off the mat..
This new gym is a great place to bring your kids to train at, the adult classes are beginner friendly. Plenty of parking. Everyone is very welcoming and made me feel like I was already part of their team. I like how their upper belts took time to help with my fundamentals during class. I like how the gym is always clean. They have early 6:00am morning and evening classes to fit my schedule. Prices are very reasonable as I was surprised compared to other Jiu-Jitsu gyms. They offer Gi and Nogi classes, which is great when I want to switch up my training. Highly recommend if you're looking for a new gym
Love love love this place! Coach Rich is the best coach I've ever learned bjj under. He is very detailed and knowledgeable in BJJ and always there to help. The place is spotless, has two changing rooms, huge mat space, cubbies and a shower! He teaches both Gi and NoGi! Also can't say enough about the people that roll here, everyone is so nice and welcoming! Best BJJ place in ALL OF OC!! Osss!!
Phenomenal gym! Truly a team and family atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel welcomed. All of the coaches have great knowledge and the experience to go with it. I always appreciate their patience as they demonstrate and explain lessons in great detail, then they watch you closely and make sure you’re doing it correctly. Coach Richard keeps you up to date with everything going on in the gym and motivates you to make it to class as often as possible. I would highly recommend trying out a class! 10/10
Great gym filled with positive & hard working teammates. Led by an dedicated coach (Richard Arreola)
Not only am I getting into the best shape I’m learning self defense, By far the best decision I’ve made!
Fantastic across the board...and a tournament winning gym!
In my honest opinion, the gym doesn't have the equipment for the boxing class and the coach is always focused on the kids instead of the rest of the class, and the worst part is that the jiu jitsu coach is always belittling his students for the things they do outside their private life and even in his own gym for their skills and infront of the class, I think this gym doesn't qualify as professional in my honest opinion
I trained here for a couple years and for a very long time it was incredible. it was fun and amazing but at some point things changed and a lot of the members including people from the beginning like myself all left since we were no longer treated well at all. I personally felt so forced to stay and constantly go to every class and when I didn’t I was called out in front of everyone and was called names by the owner. For the past few months I was there the curriculum was too bland and some people were not allowed to start sparring until a few months after joining.
