  I joined Hook Grappling expecting to learn some self-defence… turns out I mostly learned how to get folded into positions I didn’t know the human body could make. The coach is brilliant, the atmosphere is great, and everyone is super welcoming. Great place to train, get fitter, learn proper BJJ, and occasionally question every life decision you’ve ever made during a roll or a drop. 10/10 would recommend Hook Grappling- Just don’t expect to walk out looking as fresh as when you walked in.

  Hook Grappling is a really professional and friendly BJJ club teaching Gi and No-Gi under Jack Brickley. I started training with Jack at the start of the month and both he and everyone else at the club have been really welcoming from day 1 and have taken the time to share their own experience and knowledge. If you are thinking of starting BJJ, I would highly recommend Jack and the club!

  Been training BJJ for about 2 years now out of Basingstoke. Went down to Hook today after talking to Jack via Instagram, in hopes of getting some fresh faces before I compete this weekend. I have seen a lot of talk about ecological training online and was curious to see how it holds up. The class was exactly as I hoped it would be, a welcoming yet focused environment full of people who all want to get better. There was a good mix of skill levels that allowed to get some decent work in as well as get my butt kicked a bit. Jack is a brilliant teacher, very easy to talk to and very professional. Would 100% recommend for anyone wether they’re brand new, have years on the mat or just want to switch things up a bit.

  I messaged Jack back on the 8th of July for a no gi fundamental class , and I have been going ever since ! I was so nervous and anxious about going worrying thinking everyone will be looking and judging me . This couldn't have been further from the truth ! I was welcomed like a friend you have know for years . Jack took his time with me and explained everything about the session and made me feel so comfortable and at ease and any questions I had he had an answer to . All of the guys in that first session were so accommodating and helping if I got stuck . I have been going to hook grappling 4 times a week some times even 5 and I still can't get enough! It's such a great environment to be in I'm learning new things in every session and having great fun while doing it . It's not just a jiujitsu club it's a place to have fun build confidence and have a great time and make new life long friends! Jack has helped me with much more than jiujitsu and I can't recommend joining and training down at the club enough !

  Jack provided my intro to BJJ, I was Hooked (ironic right). He provided a warm learning environment and I felt well supported. It provixed me with the basic skills to be able to manage situations at work as well as getting fitter. Would highly reccomend.

  If you are thinking of giving BJJ a go then look no further than hook grappling! I’m 53 with no previous experiences and was quite nervous about giving it a go but Jack and all the boys were brilliant in making me feel welcome and part of the group. Jack takes time in showing what to do in different scenarios and whoever you are paired up with really takes their time in showing and helping you out. You get a great workout and learn something new! I started just a couples of weeks ago and hooked already. See you on the mat🙏
