I got the privilege to train at this facility for just a little over 2 months. Unfortunately life got in the way for the foreseeable future, but I will be back. I appreciate the staff and the great environment they provide for training. Thank you for the knowledge you have passed along to me, I will be back once stuff gets back under control.
Dropped in for a night of no gi. Culture starts at the top and everyone was so kind and welcoming. Big shout out to the coaches here. Y’all really have created something special. Awesome to have a gym like this in the triangle.
Awesome gym for anyone looking to get in mma training at any skill level or age. Highly recommend to anyone!
Amazing facility with extremely knowledgeable coaches! Accepting of all levels from beginners to professional fighters. The Head Coach Trevor Hayes has a wealth of knowledge and is a pillar of the community. It is a welcoming environment for anyone who wants to learn.
this gym and the coaches here made me fall in love with martial arts. i love hometown! :D
I’ve officially been training at Hometown for a year and only have incredible things to say about this gym! The owners, Trevor and Talia, and the other coaches, are some of nicest people I’ve ever met. Not only do they teach great classes but they genuinely care about their students and want to see them succeed. I started with just Boxing but because of their encouragement I now train Muay Thai and MMA. I can confidently say that every class is intentional and I learn something new every single day. This is definitely the best gym I've ever trained at and I don’t see myself training anywhere else. If you’re looking for the right gym for you, you’ve found it!
After two years of being a member at Hometown martial arts I feel confident in saying there is no better gym, community, or home away from home I’ve found. Trevor, Talia, Christian, Dylan, and Max make every one of their students feel like they are getting one on one instruction even in the largest of classes. They prioritize safety first, an emphasis on technique, and an energized welcoming environment. I have learned so much and have truly become a better person. They have helped me accomplish goals and do things I wasn’t sure my clumsy self could manage. They take pride in mine and every one of their students personal development. As a woman, I feel welcome and accepted in a culture that can be intimidating to join. From the first day to two years later it’s evident Trevor and Talia work extremely hard to maintain a gym culture that is safe, drama free, and is a strong community. It means so much to me and I know many others that there is a gym that has become a community and family. If you are looking for a martial arts gym that will work with you where you are and give you the tools and training to succeed in martial arts, I can confidently recommend Hometown martial arts.
World class people, amazing coaches, perfect facility. Coach Trevor can adapt his teaching no matter if it’s your first day or you have trained for 10 years. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.
Trevor is a great coach with years of legit experience. Great culture whether you are new or a vet to training. 10/10 recommend
Excellent trainers and facility. Trevor really cares about his students and is a fantastic person.
Hometown is an amazing gym to train in. All of the coaches: Trevor, Tyler, and Dylan are super knowledgeable and great teachers. They also care a lot about their students. The environment is warm, welcoming, and encouraging, but still competitive. It's a great gym home to an amazing group of people and I can't see myself training anywhere else
So I drive from Fayetteville NC too attend these classes when I can, so thats how awesome this place is. Great coaches Great team mates Great support Most of all great morale
Been here going on 3 months now.Not set up like other places I’ve been. Very no pressure on the sign up (no contract) because they value people and the sport over all that. Very down to earth peeps who made me feel like a friend from the get go. Last but not least, very good instruction.
Everything about Hometown Martial Arts is great! From the coaching, one on ones, the fighters, class schedules and overall environment. These are a few of many reasons why I train here.
Awesome gym with a great staff. The coaches focus a lot on technique and fundamentals, and they make sure you know what you’re doing in a fight. Super sociable environment to meet people and make friends, and all round great atmosphere to train in. Worth every penny!
Best of the best coaches, community and training that you could possibly get anywhere! You wanna compete? Train here. You wanna improve and win more championships? Train here. You wanna try out a martial art and feel welcomed in a non-judgmental environment? Train. HERE.
Love all the sparring and drilling classes. The coach is great and the community is awesome. A lot of experienced people to learn from and have a good training session with. 10 out of 5 stars!
Amazing coaches and always positive vibes. The heavy focus on details and technique is the reason why they are the best Muay Thai / Boxing gym in Raleigh imo. Ps. MMA and grappling classes are also offered but haven’t had time to try those yet but I hear they are just as amazing.
Everyone at the gym was very welcoming and they are patient with me as a beginner. The classes are taught by great instructors and the gym is a fun environment to be in!
No matter your level of experience or goals, Hometown is where you want to be. The instructors are knowledgeable and can break down the most complicated of concepts so everyone can follow along. It’s a great community of people committed to helping each other improve their skills.
Friendly and knowledgeable coaching staff. They welcome each member with open arms and will definitely make you feel at home. Best gym in the triangle
Extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, open to all skill levels.
It’s been a great experience at Hometown. I started with Muay Thai in March and have also moved to the grappling classes as well. The team at Hometown makes everyone feel welcome. A great workout, non-ego driven environment. I highly recommend Hometown for training and fun.
Brilliant gym, and brilliant people! The classes are very well structured and cater to all levels.
I love Hometown! the owners and coaches are genuine, salt of the earth people. The atmosphere is relaxed and inclusive, and everyone is eager to help you lean and grow. If you are on the fence about trying Martial arts or are looking for a new place to train I would go to Hometown!
The culture and environment that Trevor creates at Hometown is unmatchable. Hands down one of the best coaches and human beings I have trained under. Highly recommend giving it a try and joining the gym.
Not sure where to start but this martial arts school is phenomenal. Coach Trevor, Tyler, Hunter and Dylan are extremely talented, knowledgeable and passionate professionals who take their positions in the craft of MMA seriously. The other members are great too I just moved to the area 2 months ago and was looking for an atmosphere to call “home” and this school lives up to the brand HOMETOWN martial arts!
I've known Coach Trevor from the competition scene for years, and he's a person of incredible knowledge, experience, honor, and integrity. Recently, I had him run a seminar at my school, and it was outstanding! My students gained new tools and had a fantastic experience. If you're in Raleigh and in need of a top-notch coach, definitely check out Hometown Martial Arts.
One of the best gyms I've ever trained at, period. Excellent coaching, welcoming atmosphere, good vibes. Accommodates both casual hobbyists and serious competitors. 10/10.
I’ve been going to this gym for about 3 months now and I have to say it is one of the best MMA gyms in the RDU. They offer a variety of classes such as full contact Karate, Grappling (wrestling and jiu jitsu), Boxing, and Muay Thai. The instructors are knowledgeable, and you can tell they really care about their craft (shout out to Dylan, Hunter, and Tyler). Although the gym is relatively small, the ambience makes up for it; the artwork inside the gym is like no other and gives the gym a super homey vibe. The students are also pretty cool people who just want to learn some martial arts, and you will see most students trying to help their teammates become better. Trevor and Talia (the owners) are good people and you can really feel the hard work they put in this gym, as they built this place from the ground up. I highly recommend this gym.
This is for sure the best gym in the area for striking. The atmosphere and vibe is great and everyone is understanding and supportive of each other. I've made some good friends here while training the sport I love. Trevor is also an amazing coach <3
Just low kicked my gyms heavy bag so hard that the bag broke. Thanks Trevor!
I’m super impressed with this gym. It’s a hidden gym in the North Raleigh area. It’s not a “traditional” gym with anything fancy, it’s a “I’m here to learn technique and perfect my martial arts” gym. Head trainer Trevor is vastly knowledgeable on the fine details of MMA. Students here excel very fast because the classes are so drilling/technique focused on real combat. I was a out of towner visiting and I 100% will be coming back here to train!
Literally my second time posting, but I felt another review was in order. Hometown has been expanding it's variety of classes and I can't leave out Hunter and his Kyokushin karate classes on Sundays! He is an awesome coach and does a great job with all skill levels and backgrounds. I am really blown away with how much I've improved not just in this particular class, but with how much applies to Muay Thai as well! (Shoutout to Jillian who is often in these classes and helps out with training as well. Insanely talented!)
Great gym with friendly spirit, perfect place to get your level up !
I was told about Hometown by the NCSU Boxing and Kickboxing club. The coaches are super knowledge and everyone at the gym is respectful when it comes to skill level and experience. There is a wide range of combat sports represented at the gym and because of that you can learn something new from just about anyone. I had a great time there and would definitely recommend it to anyone interested
After many years of martial arts.. military combatives..and LEO defensive tactics training I have finally found a "home"! Absolutely the BEST instruction I have ever received! There is a wonderful educational "vibe" at Hometown that exists no where else in Raleigh. There are NO "ego's" ..NO arrogant attitudes..NO Gi's just great people and willingness to teach
I’ve had a great experience training at hometown martial arts. Trevor is a great coach and a good dude, good group of people to train with too. I came here with some muay thai experience but I’d definitely recommend it to anyone just starting out as well as people with a martial arts background
Great instructors with very practical Muay Thai classes.
Great coaching and members overall. Trevor explains things in a way that’s easy to understand and makes the classes a lot of fun.
There arent enough good things i can say about this place, top to bottom its the best.
World class training! Trevor and Talia have the perfect blend of home comforts and excellent muay thai training. Our daughters love coming here and appreciate the quality of training that's comfortable for all ages and skill levels but advanced enough to challenge them
One of the best gyms I’ve been to in this area. The technique in classes is always solid, and everyone there feels like family. Good option for beginners looking to learn how to fight, people who only want a good technique based workout, and for more experienced fighters who train to compete.
Head coach Trevor and the rest of the team are not only incredible coaches full of endless knowledge but amazing people as well. I’ve learned so much while training at hometown but at the same time feel like I have a second family. I would recommend hometown to anyone from beginners that have never stepped foot in a gym all the way to experienced professionals looking for a coach that will help them grow as a martial artist.
I searched for quite some time to find a place to learn Muay Thai/Kickboxing. I finally decided to try Hometown Martial Arts because of the head coach, Trevor Hayes. And I am very happy that I did. I've been training here for about 6 weeks so I'm doing this review as a beginner. With that said, Trevor is an excellent coach and everyone I've met at Hometown has been super friendly and welcoming. If you are a beginner like me, this is a great place to start. Trevor is very patient but he will also push you to continue to improve. If you're experienced, you will several very skilled fighters here as well. In short, Hometown Martial Arts is a great place to train!
My daughters, age 6 and 8, and I have been working with Trevor and Talia for 6 months now and my progress and experience has been phenomenal. Trevor works hard to adapt and challenge me as we work around my cerebral palsy. It may slow me down or make me fall more than “normal” but we just keep going! I look forward to every session! My daughters enjoy their classes and are gaining strength, coordination, flexibility, and self confidence! What more could a parent ask for??
Trevor and Talia did a great job making us feel at home at their new gym!! Very excited for this program and to see where it goes
Trevor is an amazing coach and a great, down to earth guy. The community is also very nice and welcoming and makes everyone feel like family. This is a great place to train for any level and you will leave the gym learned with something new
I could spend hours talking about how amazing this MMA program is! Trevor is insanely knowledgeable and can teach anyone from any background (I started with a background in Shorin Ryu and my fiancé had never even stepped on a mat before!). Talia the manager is super sweet and talented and Dille the boxing coach is sooo helpful! The staff are amazing, but even more than that, I've never seen a more diverse or more supportive community than at Hometown! You WILL make friends and you WILL be pushed to improve. I certainly know I have!
10 out of 10. Would throw hands here again. Excellent patience for working with new comers!
Hometown MMA is the absolute best place to train!! It's an amazing environment to surround yourself in and everyone who trains here wants to not only better themselves, but also those around them. Trevor is an incredibly dedicated coach and is truly passionate about teaching others no matter the skill level.
Absolutely fantastic. It is my third martial arts school and the other two don't compare. Trevor is a really nice guy and genuinely wants the best for his students. Technically very sound with his coaching and stresses fundamentals. Really glad I decided to go with Hometown!
Amazing coaches and programs! You can’t find a better space and more passionate environment in the triangle. Trevor Hayes led a self-defense class that I was apart of and my take-always were invaluable. Would highly recommend.
Trevor is one of the best muay thai coaches out there and has built a great program for all experience levels - if you’re in the Raleigh area, this is the best place to train
I about love Hometown MMA! I have been working with coach Trevor and Coach Talia for years, my daughter just started her Muay Thai journey 2 months ago and she has made so much progress! The coaches here are knowledgeable and use their expertise and skills to help the kids reach the their fullest potential! I absolutely love it here!
Trevor is the the best striking coach I’ve chosen to train under in NC. He has a technical, Dutch approach to Muay Thai, and loves to incorporate other styles for mma. He cares about and believes in the potential of every student who steps foot in his gym: beginners to fighters.
Hometown MMA is the best place in Raleigh to be! A family oriented gym that pushes and helps you excel no matter your skill level! Fantastic fitness and great kids classes to ease in to. I highly recommend training here!!
One of the dopest MMA gyms to workout at! Whether your a serious competitor visiting town or looking or a local gym to train Martial arts! The Muay Thai and striking offered taught by Trevor Hayes is on point!!! You want hands? They’ll give you hands… you want kicks… they’ll show ya kicks!!!
I love Hometown MMA! It’s a great atmosphere with knowledgeable coaches and fighters, who go above and beyond to help you with your goals. Whether it’s fighting, getting in shape, technique or even kid’s lessons.. they’ve got you covered. 👊🏽
This is a great place for training and community! I knew nothing about Muay Thai before training here. I had done private classes for about 3-4 months with Talia, and felt nervous about joining a group class, but everyone was so encouraging. Whether you are new or have been training for years, you feel included and attended to. The main coach, Trevor, obviously knows and loves what he is teaching people, and you are likely to get some words of wisdom about life as well as fighting along the way.
Great environment good people real MMA training.
I've competed in many sports, but Trevor Hayes is one of the best coaches I've ever had in my life. The teammates that I train with are amazing and always push my limits to become the best possible version of myself, as a fighter, and as well as a strong-minded individual. Training at Hometown MMA has been one of the best decisions I have made in my life, and I have nothing but gratitude for the opportunities presented to me.
The head coach Trevor is awesome in and outside the gym! He's the most technical coach you'll find. You won't find a better coach! Guaranteed. Talia is super cool and great with teaching kids! Dille is also a smart and driven boxing coach! All the fighters are nice and great with helping rookies and experienced fighters. You will not find a better place to train!
The head coach, Trevor, is an amazing person and even better striking coach. He has great vision/fight IQ and an ability to teach a wide spectrum of people. Only good things at Hometown MMA.
Trevor is a solid dude, I have traveled up and down the east coast to train and Trevor is one of the best I had the pleasure to work with! Super knowledgeable and easy to talk
