Since becoming a mom, so much of my time and energy has been focused on my children — and while that’s a joy, I realized I had been putting myself on the back burner. I finally decided it was time to show up for me, and committing to Coach Kimo’s weekly women’s self-defense/BJJ class has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. The environment is welcoming, safe, and fun — no intimidation, just real support and learning. Coach Kimo does an incredible job teaching practical techniques while building confidence and awareness. I leave each class feeling stronger, more capable, and more connected to my body. If you're looking for a way to boost your self-confidence, increase your self-awareness, and get your body moving in a meaningful way, I highly recommend joining this class. You won’t regret it! Will update again once the kids start training! 💪🏾

I’ve been taking the Women’s Self Defense class for 2 months now with Coach Kimo and it has been physically and mentally enlightening, challenging, and rewarding. Coach Kimo is a knowledgeable kind, firm, person and teacher. Each class has taught me to be more aware of my surroundings and how to approach potential situations that I would be able to handle if needed to defend myself. I look forward to learning more and becoming a part of the Heritage Jiu Jitsu community. 100% recommend joining this Womens Self Defense Class!

Started to practice in March and has been a great experience. From the main coach, Kimo Anderson, down to every white belt, everybody is nice, is there to learn and likes the sport. There is also classes for kids. Make sure to visit and talk to coach Kimo if you have any questions.

I came here on a Friday during an "open mat" session. For those that don't know, open mat isn't a class where an instructor gives you moves and students practice them with other students. It's a session where fighters of all skill levels spar with each other. That would've been an intimidating setting for a total noob like me but everyone on the mat took time to show me the basics and helped to make me feel comfortable enough to ask my questions... And now I've found a new sport I'm really enjoying! Professor Kimo's built a warm and welcoming community so if you're on the fence about trying the sport, brush the nerves aside and we'll see you at the gym :) UPDATE: One year later and I'm still here. I've made new friends, earned medals, and gained a new family. Amazing place to learn and grow in the sport of jiu jitsu.

I've been to a lot of academy's and heritage instantly the vibe feels friendly and feels like home. The instructor is so detailed with the technique, everyone wants to help and grow together. They say the hardest part is walking in, I can assure you not here. It's so welcoming. I like how the instructor is always exploring techniques and stops to see who has questions about it and being open minded and exploring that. Super smooth and very technical professor. If your experienced or not it's a lot of fun and you feel part of the team from the moment you walk in. ✌️🤙
