An incredible environment. The facility is top class and the gym is extremely welcoming and a safe place to train. The jiu jitsu is really good as well. The gym has a really good culture where safety of your training partners is first and foremost. I've been to all class times (6am, 10am, and 6pm) and they have their nuances but are high quality instruction. I highly recommend this gym for anyone looking for a place to train and be a part of a strong community.

I was visiting the area for work and wanted to stay sharp with some training. Walking into Ares PV BJJ was the best decision I made! The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and welcoming. Even the students made me feel right at home. The sense of community and the quality of instruction here are top-notch. I highly recommend Ares PV BJJ to anyone, whether you're just starting or looking to refine your skills. I'm confident you'll have an amazing experience!

John runs a great gym. I was in town for a wedding and came in for an open mat. The crew was very welcoming and are all high level grapplers. I’ll be back soon!

I love this gym, and am sad that I'm moving soon and won't be able to train here much anymore. Anyone at all interested in jiu jitsu in Phoenix should train here. Every single instructor is great (both as a teacher and as a person). We train hard and get a great workout and learn a lot of jiu jitsu, but at the same time, it's a great and supportive place for anyone--regardless of your current fitness level/whether you've done bjj before. And as far as I can tell, everyone who trains at this gym (whether outgoing or shy) makes new friends here, so it's a great place to meet people too.

Been to a lot of gyms, but this one is the one I call "Home". There aren't a lot of instructors I genuinely can look up to, but John has fundamentals on another level. This is where you want to learn jiu jitsu. Especially if you are just starting out. And for all the nomads out there looking for a place to settle in, this is the spot. Very chill vibes. Good rolls that make you think outside the box. A good class schedule as well as a good mix of both jiu jitsu techs and wrestlers to keep your scramble and grip game on point. As well as good communication afterwards with honest constructive drills. Every instructor is very engaged with every single student on the mat during the entire class time. 10/10 best vibes and rolls in AZ

I love visiting this gym when I travel monthly to Phoenix. It's tough to walk into a new gym to train, especially as a female but everyone is so welcoming! I love the coaches and the classes. This gym feels like home and I always look forward to training with the new friends I've made there.

Feeling anxious about starting BJJ? I did too, until I stepped into this gym and met the Greywolf himself. He has the heart of a coach and the desire to share. Not only is the facility top-notch but the people who train there are SO friendly! Good vibes only on these mats.

I had practiced for a few years at a very friendly gym in Colorado, taken 5 years off, and found Greywolf through a friend. This gym is absolutely phenomenal. Not only are the coaches and professors awesome, but the folks who go to the gym are just a warm and welcoming. It’s been a long time since I’ve found such a great gym and happy to start training again!

Incredible BJJ gym. I’ve been here two months and have lost over 30 pounds already. All the coaches and instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and very good at what they do. I would highly recommend to anybody who wants to do something to change their life and get in shape. It’s exhausting, but very rewarding and very fun you will learn many skills on how to defend yourself while meeting new people and teammates

Truly the best place for beginners to learn jiu jitsu, or for anyone who wants a welcoming, cheerful, and humble group of people to roll with. The culture is relaxed, respectful, attentive, and everyone takes care of one another. Great vibes. Great rolls. Great jiu jitsu. I just won double gold at a recent tournament, so the stuff definitely works. Come for the jiu jitsu, stay for the people

This place is amazing. The coaches are great, the people are friendly and welcoming and excited about helping each other out every training session. I came here originally to gain some basic skills, and now I’m looking at trying my hand at competition. It’s a wonderful environment for all ages and all people, regardless of where you are in your fitness journey or BJJ experience!

I was in Phoenix for a week and wanted to drop in at any gym that welcomes visitors. Out of four gyms, Grey Wolf Ares was the only one to respond back to me. Rolling there was not just an awesome workout, but a really good class to learn from as well. I look forward to coming back here whenever I’m in town.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is changing my life everyday and Greywolf Ares is the reason why. We have the best coaches that instill the right mindset to learn and get better everyday. Not to mention the space is incredible with the natural light, it is the perfect environment to train BJJ.

I found Grey Wolf bjj on Instagram back in June of this year John was advertising his weight loss challenge. I said what the hell let's do it I'm 305lbs at that time. I figured the constant movement would help me more that what I was currently doing. Fast forward to currently I'm down to 272lbs I feel better, moving better and feel healthier over all. Now for the training it's top knotch there is no gimics you get what you put into it. And it feels like my second family. You make friends here almost right away no one wants anyone to fail. Unless we are competing against one another then it's game on. So to summarize this up if you join Grey Wolf you will get excellent training and mentoring from some of the best bjj instructors in AZ but you will have the best time of your life, becoming better than when you walked in the door.

Proud to say I finished the Greywolf Ares BJJ 6 Week Challenge! The coaches are amazing and supportive and truly put together a program that works. In just 6 weeks I lost 19 pounds and in the best cardio shape I have been in years!! I highly recommend Greywolf Ares BJJ to all those who want to challenge themselves and grow stronger physically and mentally. Thank you for everything Coach Cabay. Wish you much success.

Great place to go and get started in jiu jutsu! Coach Cabay and all the other coaches really build an environment that feels welcoming to beginners. There are always good positive vibes from them as well as the other students. Jiu jutsu always seemed so intimidating when walking into a gym but at Greywolf it definitely feels open and accepting. I have no complaints about my time spent here! If I had more free time in my life I would pretty much be living there!

I had been looking for a place to start my BJJ journey at the the age of 43, and when I met coach John, I new I found my home. He took the time to get to know me and walk me through the entire process. Between coach John and coach Vinny, my first 6 weeks have been an amazing beginning to an incredible new journey. Greywolf Ares BJJ is a fresh, inviting, well staffed facility that anyone would be proud to train at.

This has been an amazing experience. I'm 8 weeks in and every coach is legit and very accepting of your experience level. Especially if you have ZERO training in any kind of grappling or boxing, like me. Truly thankful to coach Cabay for the opportunity to better myself. Stop thinking about it and join this gym.

I'm a 50 year old middle aged man doing Jiu Jitsu. I've always wanted to, but life got in the way in the past. Recently, it was the idea of being a little uncomfortable starting something new, completely new at 50. One day scrolling through instagram, I saw John's ad and his personality is just like you see on that ad. Excellent Coach, excellent teacher! Never felt uncomfortable, nor did I feel "out of place." I'm on my 8th week and have enjoyed every class. As the saying goes, "3, 2, 1 GO! Just do it!"
