Great techniques, excellent teaching skills.
I cannot recommend this jiu jitsu gym enough! Literally every part of my experience here was positive. The only reason I stopped going was that I moved out of the state. I was a complete beginner with no martial arts experience before starting the Women Empowered program. Bri, who manages the gym, immediately made me feel comfortable by warmly welcoming me and guiding me through the trial process. The instructors were genuinely excited I was there and spent extra time helping me navigate my first few classes. As someone who avoids new hobbies because I hate looking like I don’t know what I’m doing, this was really helpful for me! I never felt like a burden because I wasn’t sure what to do. The classes themselves are very well-structured and fun. It’s super empowering to learn how to defend yourself and get more capable class after class. The instructors are very good teachers - they break movements down in easy-to-understand steps and provide lots of hands on coaching as you practice. They REALLY know their stuff. And then there are the other students themselves! Everyone is kind and welcoming - a genuine community of good people. If you’re interested in trying jiu jitsu, here’s your sign to go for it! Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix will take good care of you. :)
I am a new member of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (Phoenix). I am amazed how much I am learning here. And, doing so progressively and safely is key. The staff and the students very welcoming and collaborative and helpful. It is an excellent place to join, learn, make mistakes, laugh, and get important life skills.
When our 6-year-old son expressed an interest in trying jiu-jitsu, we were unsure about it. He already enjoys and practices other sports, including basketball, soccer, and golf, so we questioned the need for another activity. We were also skeptical about how long he would stick with it and how it would complement what he already had. However, we are so glad our son wanted to do jiu-jitsu and has kept his interest in it (it has been over 6 months now). It offers much more than just self-defense; it teaches important values, discipline, and confidence in children. The coaches are incredible, and the environment truly feels like a family. We strongly recommend Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
Gracie Jiu Jitsu Phoenix is a top notch gym. The coaching is excellent. We have visited a number of other gyms and cannot say enough good things about the culture of respect that is fostered here. If you'd like your children to learn self defense and self awareness while having fun... this is the place!
Great Experience at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix I’ve been training at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix for just over a year, participating in the Gracie Combatives program at both the Tatum and Bell locations. Overall, my experience has been very positive. The Gracie Combatives program is well-structured, and the resources on Gracie University have been an invaluable supplement to what I’ve learned in class. The instructors in the group classes are welcoming and supportive, creating an environment where I felt comfortable from the start. At the Bell location, Justin Koester’s teaching style stood out — he made each class engaging and always kept me looking forward to coming back. I also took private lessons with Alisha Olson, which deepened my understanding of the techniques. Her clear, patient teaching style and attention to detail were key in helping me grasp the fundamentals and improve my overall training. I really appreciated how she personalized each lesson to my progress. I’d highly recommend Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix to anyone looking to learn jiu-jitsu in a structured, supportive, and motivating environment.
I started coming with my 14 year old son about a month ago and we have never had so much fun together. He actually giggles with glee during class (of course that’s right after he takes me down, but whatever). It’s also empowering, on Day 1 we learned an arm bar and a take down, you could see his confidence grow. I cannot recommend this studio enough!!!
As an older male I had been looking for a little something to help with my overall tightness and mobility issues. I had participated in a couple other free trials in the area but left with a schedule that didn't work and an overall Mc Dojo attitude. I had looked at the Gracie Programs but was apprehensive about safety and getting injured. I am happy to say that Gracie Jiu Jitsu but all that to bed. I have been training here a little over a year and it has been nothing short of exceptional!!! Adam and the team are extremely focused on safety, technique and your overall well being. I can't imagine training anywhere else as they are my family!
My 10-year-old switched over to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix after having 3 years of classes at another school. The instruction, atmosphere, and overall sense of community are absolutely unbeatable here! Everyone is extremely welcoming and friendly which is imperative for learning this amazing martial art. The lessons are executed in a well structured format that doesn't feel rushed while ensuring the technique is taught thoroughly and questions are answered. The kids in class have clearly been taught respect and discipline in a fun and nurturing environment, allowing each student to realize their full potential. If you want the best, this is it!
Was looking for place to train martial arts for self-defense and learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Both the Bell Road and Tatum location offer amazing programs for kids and adults. Clean environment, and amazing instructors. I will continue to be a student under Adam and his instructor staff for many years. If you are a man or woman or looking to get your kids trained in self-defense with martial arts, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix is the place for you. With two centrally located training centers in Phoenix, it makes it very convenient. Check out Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix for self-defense and learning the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and you won't be disappointed.
Can't recommend this school enough. Great vibe, better instruction. Adam and his team are meticulous in their classes, wonderful in their energy and respect, and personal in their guidance and friendship. Came for the sport, stayed for the fun
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix is an outstanding gym. During my recent visit to Phoenix, Arizona, I had the pleasure of taking classes at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted warmly by both instructors and fellow students. The instructors at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix are not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable. They were always approachable and eager to assist with any questions, ensuring that everyone felt supported throughout the training sessions. Likewise, the students were welcoming and supportive, creating a positive learning environment. The quality of training at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix was consistent with the high standards I've come to expect from Gracie Gyms. The curriculum was well-structured, focusing on fundamental techniques and self-defense principles. Furthermore, I was impressed by the cleanliness and upkeep of the gym facilities. It's evident that the staff takes pride in maintaining a comfortable and hygienic training environment. In conclusion, if you're searching for a top-notch gym with exceptional instructors and a welcoming community, I wholeheartedly recommend Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix.
My 7 year old started at Gracie Jiu Jitsu 2 months ago. The instructors are dedicated and patient. He struggled with focus and discipline. These behaviors have greatly improved in just 2 months. His school teacher has noticed improved classroom behavior. Wonderful experience!
This school is legit. The school is clean, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. My kids went through their "Bully Proof" program, my son just earned his blue belt, and now my daughter and I will be starting "Women Empowered". Over the last 12 years they have given my family the tools of discipline, responsibility, the knowledge of safety, and confidence. I'm so grateful to these instructions and the BJJ community.
As a black belt in BJJ, Adam Ideson is one of the best instructors I've learned from. His ability to connect with his students is above most I've seen. He's very technical in his teaching that makes it memorable and great for retention. His school is top notch! If you're looking for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school which has an outstanding curriculum, safe for everyone and for all ages...look no further...Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix is the place!!
If you are looking for top notch self-defense instruction in a safe environment this is the place for you. They have jiu-jitsu classes for adults and children. Whether you’re a beginner or have jiu-jitsu experience there is a class for you at GJJ Phoenix.
I can't say enough about the entire team at GJJ Phoenix - everyone is warm and welcoming. Trying something new can be daunting and the instructors, staff and fellow students are nothing short of amazing. Classes are not only useful for skill development, but they also build confidence and energy! If you are on the fence - just come in and try it - you will love it!
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix is the place to learn jiu-jitsu. The instructors are incredible, and the environment is second to none on the mat. Whether you are 5 years old or 99, you will learn to protect yourself in a safe environment from instructors of the highest caliber. They truly care about their students on and off the mat. The owner Adam has a tremendous level of knowledge that comes from years and years of experience in both training and teaching jiu-jitsu. Go in and ask about the 10-day free trial ASAP, you won't regret it!
My first time stepping through the door at Jiu-Jitsu three years ago at 13, I was very nervous, and by that I mean I was terrified. I had no idea what I was walking into, only that I was going into a women's only self defense class. I thought we would be taught moves that focused more on pressure points, groin strikes, etc, but the techniques I learned in class were way more fun than that, and way more useful. I was nervous every time I went but every single time it was worth it, because of the self defense, but also the community of women as well. The Combatives program we offer is so much fun, but the Women Empowered program gives me so much joy that only spending time in a group of powerful women can offer! I always leave fulfilled and so, so happy. :)
After looking for quite a while, my daughter and I have found our next Martial Arts Home. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix, at Tatum and Thunderbird is a clean, family friendly, place to start or expand your Jiujitsu journey. The minute you enter you can feel the positive, inclusive, vibe from whoever is at the front counter. Head instructor, Mr. Adam Ideson offers a 'professors' point of view in a positive and constructive manner. He is kind but firm and leads by example. I find his classes to be a compendium of Gracie history and jiujitsu knowledge. He inspires his instructors to be eager to share, and they do so in such a well thought out way that it creates a strong desire to learn in their students. From the kids classes all the way up to the adults, there is respect shown and respect given. My teenager Loves to go to class, and would go every day. I whole heartedly recommend Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix at Tatum and Thunderbird. The Gracie philosophy is alive and well in Mr. Ideson able hands.
This place is amazing! I have been training here with all four of my kids for almost 3 years now and they really did treat us like family right from the start. Big emphasis on safety while having fun learning, a very positive and encouraging environment. Love that it is practical information that I will actually use, and my children learn not just Jiu Jitsu, but how to live a better life! Their free trial is awesome and no pressure or sales pitch. Cannot speak highly enough!!!
My daughter enjoys the training. The instructors are friendly and helpful.
The culture of mutual respect, generous teaching and growing yourself as a person is off the charts. I can't imagine a better introduction to BJJ for someone unsure about it or themselves.
Great place to train and very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend
Amazing. The experience you'll get out of this program is unexplainable. The instructors are very friendly, and teach the curriculum step by step. Everything that is taught is broken down, so you never feel overwhelmed. Great energy, and a great experience!
Adam and crew run a great program. Clean facilities, overly welcoming staff and fellows students. Perfect for all ages and experience levels looking to learn Gracie fundamentals and beyond, highly recommend!
Adam Ideson, Head Instructor of this facility has been instrumental in helping our family through some VERY difficult times. He is a Master of communicating with children and adults. You might initially go to him to learn Jiu-Jitsu. But, you will learn many awesome life lessons in his class. As a parent, I have never signed up for his class. But, I have learned so much from just attending my children’s classes. He has a wealth of human knowledge and is ALWAYS willing to share! Thank you Adam! Much love sent! The Garthe’s
Highly recommend the Women's Empowerment program here. Everyone here is awesome and patient. Adam's a wonderful instructor!
I’ve been training at Gracie jiu jitsu Phoenix since 2018, and I don’t plan on training under anyone else. Such a welcoming, humbling, positive, exciting environment. No judgment here, just phenomenal people from all kinds of backgrounds. We are all here to help each other grow positively in different ways!👊🏻
The Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix Certified Training Center has amazing instructors, a supportive environment, and an amazing sense of community. This is an incredible learning environment. My self-confidence, self-love, and self-esteem have all increased tremendously since I started training here.
Gracie jiu-jitsu Phoenix is amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect and as most people are was incredibly nervous my first day but it's been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was treated with respect and like family from day one and not only am I learning a skill I have always wanted to learn but I am becoming calmer, more confident and more patient in all aspects of my life. Their philosophy on teaching and training is inspiring as well as their motivation of truly wanting others to succeed. I honestly couldn't imagine learning and growing in jui-jitsu any other way then with Adam and the instructors at Gracie Jui-Jitsu Phoenix.
I originally learned Jiu-Jitsu at an MMA school, where I competed in no-gi and my viewpoint was “win-or-lose;” however, at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix, my perspective shifted. Gracie Philosophy taught me to regard Jiu-Jitsu in terms of safety. The curriculum and street applicability aspect of self-defense training was a game-changer for me. Instead of a competitor, I became a problem-solver. I learned about boundaries and distance management. The instruction at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix is superb, with attention to detail and genuine care for my growth on the mat and as a person. This vibe pervades the community, where everyone cooperates with one another and wants each other to succeed. I felt welcomed and supported on Day 1 (2018), and that is why I have stayed since!
I retired in June of 2021. By that time I had trained in BJJ for several years. Unfortunately, my 21 years with Homeland Security, never landed me in a city with A Gracie CTC. I came to Gracie Jiu Jitsu of Phoenix in Aug of 2021. Admittedly' I had no insider knowledge, good or bad, about what to expect from this CTC. I could not have found a better place to train. From the moment I stepped in the building I was treated a family. Absolutely every Instructor I met was incredibly frendly, professional, truly interested in my training, my jiu jitsu goals, and my safety on the mat. Adam and his family of assistant instructors make this training center welcome to all. They truly are the best of what the Gracie family represents!!!!!
I have been training at this school since I was 9 years old (now 18), so I've been able to train in almost every class offered and trust me when I say it has been nothing but a positive experience. I don't think I'd even be the same person I am today if it weren't for the amazing instructors I've learned from over the years. I have learnt so much under Adam and the other instructors, and I have been given so many opportunities including becoming an officially certified instructor myself. I would highly recommend if you're thinking about training or bringing in your child to train, JUST DO IT. Jiu-Jitsu will change your life!
My children and I have been part of the Phoenix Gracie Jiu-Jitsu family since 2018. Being a part of this school has been a transformative experience for me and my kids. From day one, my kids and I have been treated like family. We have all learned and continue to learn so much, we have been challenged and our skill set has grown tremendously. When we came in 2018, my middle son struggled with speaking in front of others, he had a history of a tongue tie and after it was clipped, he needed speech therapy. He was self-conscious of the way he spoke and therefore, never raised his hand to speak or answer questions. I can't exactly explain the joy I felt as a mother watching my son overcome this fear on the mat and actually WANT to speak up and answer questions! As Adam and other incredible instructors have mentored him on the mat, his confidence continues to grow. In fact, this year he was selected at his elementary school to compete in a speech competition, he not only embraced the experience, he also took home the highest honors! I am incredibly grateful that we found and are a part of such a wonderful self-defense school. I have made new friends, conquered my own fears, and learned that my body can do things I never thought possible. I encourage you to give it a try, what you learn in our school could very well save your life.
The best jiu-jitsu school in all of arizona. I've had the luxury of training here for several years and learned so much on the way. Amazing people, amazing teachers, and amazing jiu-jitsu!
This school is the best! They’re emphasis on safe training, good communication, and overall positive ready to help attitude makes me feel right at home. I started in their kids program and transitioned to adult classes after a couple years. I would recommend this school to anyone of any age, whoever you are they’ll help you thrive.
I started JJ at Gracie phoenix. They are very knowlegeable and kind. The instructions are clear and structured, and they always give effective feedback. The staff & students are all focused and friendly. Love this place, can't recommend enough!!
The instruction and atmosphere here is world class. They go above and beyond to make sure they're teaching everything with maximum clarity & efficiency. They've also created a wonderful atmosphere whether your a first timer or have been doing Jiu Jitsu for some time. I've been going here for about 6 months and am impressed with the consistent energy all instructors bring to every single class!
My kids have been attending the Bullyproof program for several months. I am consistently impressed with both the program and the school. The thoughtfulness, patience, and effort provided by the instructors is beyond reproach. The head instructor, Adam, knows every student's name and, in turn, addresses each student by name in all interactions. It is quickly evident that he works very hard to exemplify all of the principles he teaches to the students in the Bullyproof program- manners, caring, respect, responsibility, citizenship, health. The other instructors also go to great lengths to personify these principles through their instruction. As far as feedback from my two students- they continually ask me if I can somehow get Adam to have "Little Champions" class every day. I don't think it is a leap to take that as a five-star review from them. All of my interactions with this business over the past four months have been positive. This includes the initial discussions with the administrator regarding the program, pricing, and billing/payment; speaking with each of the instructors on a regular basis; the consistency of class scheduling in these uncertain times; the cleanliness of the facility; the accessibility and friendliness of the staff and owner; and even the collegiallity of the parents and students.
The Women Empowered class should be required for every woman. Learn how to set your boundaries, defend them, and stay safe. I leave each and every class having learned something amazing, and feeling truly empowered. If you’re thinking about giving it a try DO IT and DO IT NOW! There’s a ten-day free trial so no risk!
My daughter and I have been going to Gracie Phoenix for about three years. Having moved from out of state, I was concerned in finding a place that would be a safe learning environment, one that would adequately prepare her for the reality of the world she lives in, and one I could call my Jiu-jitsu home. What I found was so much more! The culture that Adam and the other instructors has created is welcoming, inviting and also challenging mentally and physically. It is a clean place to train, which makes such a difference if you have seen most Jiu-jitsu gyms. And the quality of the instruction is second to none! If you're anywhere near Gracie Jiu-jitsu Phoenix, you owe it to yourself to pop in for a visit. You won't be disappointed, and you might just find your next Jiu-jitsu home.
Having trained for years in Jiu Jitsu, I can say that I have never felt so welcomed into school as I did with this group of people. The school operates in a smooth and organized manner, and there are no surprises as to who will be teaching what. There is a wonderful atmosphere for adults and children, and there is no higher recommendation that I can give over joining this school if you are interested at all in learning a self-defense, a new sport, a new skill, getting exercise, or just challenging yourself to something new entirely! Come join!
Best Jiu jitsu place in all of Arizona
Started bringing my teenage daughter about 2 years ago. Possibly the best thing I've ever done as a parent. In these two years, she has transformed into a strong, confident young woman who knows how to set boundaries, recognize when they're being violated and defend them. The instructors are incredibly kind, nurturing and generous and absolutely amazing at teaching their craft. I started training as well so I could practice with her and find it extremely enjoyable, in part due to the incredibly welcoming environment that Adam (the head instructor) and his staff have created.
I would highly recommend coming here. This place is super friendly and nice and informative. A couple of my family members go here, and the staff is always kind anytime I'm around.
My daughter has been going here for 6 months or so already and there was a huge difference in how safe and secure she feels on a daily basis. Especially going to college, it's a dangerous world out there. Everyone at Gracie's treats her with respect, they keep a clean, friendly place, and they work hard to take care of people. Definitely recommend for kids and families.
I have been going here about 6 months. The staff is phenomenal (especially Lance, and Adam). All members consistently stop and give feedback, offer safety tips, and communicate clearly. It is on the higher end of expensive, but every single movement and lesson I have taken I received quality feedback. Its a good message, with good people who work to have a good community. Also I know I wanted to go somewhere with other women, and this place openly encourages women to stand up for themselves, embrace consent, and don't feel ashamed to fight back
Chief instructor is the most knowledgeable jiu jitsu instructor I've found in 7 yrs of training in multiple schools. The knowledge base is extremely well organized for easier retention.
Fell in love with this place right away. Adam has created an amazing and friendly environment to learn this beautiful art.
I was invited by instructor Alisha to join the Women Empowered Jiu-Jitsu Class, and it was an absolute honor. Coming from a competition Jiu-Jitsu school, I fully appreciated the way the Self Defense Jiu-Jitsu moves were explained. Each step was explained in a way that was easy to understand and execute. Not only did they explain how to defend oneself, but they also explained why instinctual moves could be more harmful to oneself. Personally, showing what not to do also helped reinforced how to execute the moves properly. The instructors Alisha, Kai, and Adam made the gym a safe place for women to learn self defense. Not only is the gym for learning self defense, but you could feel the genuine care the instructors have for their students. The way they taught their class filled with patience, understanding, and clarity truly helps the students to feel empowered in a safe environment was absolutely moving to me. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix School has such amazing instructors with an amazing and safe atmosphere in wanting women to feel capable, strong and empowered in a way I wish I lived near by to join the gym.
The moment I started Gracie Jiu-jitsu I knew I was going to sign up right away. From the very first class I can feel the welcoming environment and for a person who has never tried any type of martial arts I felt very safe and comfortable and absolutely nobody judged me because I did not know a single thing about jiu-jitsu. Everybody from the Instructors to the students were very helpful and answered any questions I may have had. The way the instructors teach the classes make it very easy to understand what technique needs to be done and how to do it properly. Overall I just love the environment during the classes because I feel so comfortable and safe from negativity that it allows me to grasp the lessons they are teaching. I highly recommend you join Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix and I know if you do join you will not regret your decision!!!
Best place to learn self defense! Adam is a great instructor.
My kid loves it here and won't stop talking about it. The instructors went out of their way to make him feel comfortable, and the lessons from the class also are helping with stuff at home. We are thrilled with how things are going so far. Thank you!
My 13 year old daughter has been attending Jiu Jitsu here for the past 6+ months and I am beyond impressed with the level of care, thoughtfulness and instruction provided. There are typically severally instructors working with individuals and small groups and she thrives with the attention and camaraderie. She has grown in confidence, skill and motivation as a result of attending sessions here and she absolutely beams walking out to the car as she shares what she's learned. I'm so grateful for the opportunities she's had to grow and learn. Thank you!
Great instruction. Best BJJ school in the Valley.
Trained here privately for a weekend. Absolutely loved it! The guys were great to me and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Thanks guys! I'll be back
My 8 year old son has been coming to classes here for the past few months and he just loves it. He's a very shy kid who was nervous to try something new but everyone made him feel so welcomed during his first class, he couldn't wait to go back. The coolest part about him attending classes is his confidence has increased. His posture has improved and when I commented on it he said "jiu-jitsu makes me confident". So cool! The instructors are wonderful with the kids and weave in life lessons throughout class. My son loves class and is setting goals to work towards his next belt. I love watching his happiness taking this program.
My son loves going here. He has made a bunch of friends and has learned so much. Adam really has a great connection with the kids and it's an open environment where they all feel accepted. Great confidence booster!
Hands down the best jiu jitsu instruction in the state!
Coach Adam and the crew are fantastic. Within minutes my 6-year old was made to feel welcome. Coach Adam: "How do we treat someone new?" Entire class in unison: "Like Family!" This is a place a young person can learn discipline and respect. They offer an introductory program that allows the family a chance to get to know the place. Sign us up!
Greatest after school activity you can get your kid involved in. This is a practical life skill being taught and the kids love it because of the great instructors and atmosphere. Recommend a million times.
A very enjoyable learning experience in an ego-free environment. The instructors teach in a fun yet comprehensive way. I highly recommend this school to anyone curious about the art.
If I can give 6 stars I would. I started about 3-4 months ago (with zero prior "martial arts" experience) and immediately was welcomed into the family.. All egos are left at the door, doesn't matter if there's a blue, purple, or black belt, everyone is awesome! And very soon I realized I'll be a student for life. Got the 9 year old step-son attending the"Bully Proof" program too which I now think every parent should put there kid in. Do yourself or your kid a favor and check it out!
I love this place. The instructor is great and all the students communicate and work together to learn. Also, everyone is super supportive.
I've been a student for 4 years, love this place. The instruction and detail is awesome. Gracie CERTIFIED Training Center.
I was interested in learning women's self defense and looked around for a school with daytime hours to fit into my parenting schedule. The first day that I stepped onto the mat, I was met with genuine care and encouragement. The instructors are thorough and concise. The students are in no way intimidating or harsh. I felt completely like a part of the family. The curriculum of the combatives self defense program is broken down into palatable chunks so that I never once felt overwhelmed with a technique. I was looking for skills, and I was given love, appreciation, guidance, and inspiration. I have been in class every single day since then! I am completely in love with this school. I absolutely, completely recommend taking one class here at Gracie jiujitsu Phoenix. It will change you. It will inspire you; and I guarantee you, it will fill your heart.
I support GJJ and the notion that "sport jiujitsu" has limitations. I feel I have earned an opinion on this topic and so need to share. I had a negative experience at this Gracie CTC, and I assume my experience isn't isolated. Perhaps it was my fault but I believe it highlights a common occurrence. I have a Blue Belt, in fact I went through the entire Gracie Combatives Online Course (highly recommended w a partner) then went to an MMA gym in Tucson as a 0-Stripe White Belt, and after multiple years earned a "Sport" (I mean it was an MMA gym but ok) Blue Belt. I am a 'relatively competent' Fight Ready Blue Belt, roll with me if you don't believe me. I also added a Stripe to my Blue Belt from a Well Respected Teacher in Gustavo Dantas. Why then am I banned from Master Cycle Classes at (at least) the Phoenix Gracie CTC until I send in nonsense video evidence of skill? How about train w me and have an instructor let me know? Refusal of admittance (this is what happened) to Blue Belts seems bad for business in a variety of ways: 1. Kicking out competence. 2. Harboring perhaps ill-conceived notions of fighting readiness. 3. Blue Belts insulting & picking fights with other (more competent?) Blue Belts. 4. A system of exclusion where perhaps only imagined readiness is fostered (worse than complete and known non-readiness.) Also ego/perceived power can grow as fame accumulates in unworthy instructors. 5. TEST THINE-SELF. When does 85%+ rolling occur at this gym? Where were the MMA gloves I thought I'd obviously see to simulate an actual fight? 6. Literally kicking out revenue. Revenue is Good for Businesses in America. It seems this lesson is being somewhat overlooked? Perhaps I ran into a bad instructor/ isolated gym. This seems systemic though. Let Blue Belts & Up from other gyms train with Master Cycle knowledge (obviously), otherwise The Gracies are Hoarding Knowledge; the opposite of intended goals as I understand them. Hoarding Knowledge is a scarcity mindset, & not of The Gracies. Thank you, Eric Larson
