Excellent instructor, class culture, and location. The instructor as well as other members have a friendly nature that's there to help you learn. Great balance between easing people in comfortably while ensuring you're progressing and taking your learning seriously. Really happy that I found this place. Was able to take advantage of the free trial and was immediately happy to join after the first session. Really like that I can attend any Gracie Jiu-Jitsu locations including the one in Quincy or internationally.
Posted 3 months agoI grew up training and competing in martial arts until high school, so when my wife and I moved to Boston, I knew I wanted to find a great dojo and get back on "the path". I've been training here and at the Quincy location for about 4 months and I absolutely love it. It was obvious from my first class that this school attracts and retains great people. Derric and Dan are truly excellent instructors, with a deep knowledge of the ethos, spirit, and tactical precision of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. The classes are always fun and enlightening, and family atmosphere makes it feel like a second home. If you're looking for a top-notch dojo to continue your journey as a student of martial arts, this is where you want to be.
Posted 2 years agoProfessional instruction that is clear and welcoming to beginners while challenging for experienced learners. A great place to learn and perfect a new skill. Recommend to anyone interested in picking up Jiu Jitsu and taking it to the next level.
Posted 6 years agoSo, I took a shot at trying out Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Dedham led by instructor Derric Crothers. My first thought walking in seeing the class in session: I was in no way going to be able to do any of this. But I put on the uniform, walked to the mat and watched the group practice. Soon, I realized it wasn't as intimidating as I thought it would be. Everyone there was very welcoming, inclusive and very helpful. The class instructor, Derric is very approachable and a complete professional. He explained each move so clearly that you feel like you can definitely do it all - and surprised that you actually can! And the uniform is cool, too!
