Highly recommended! Gracie Jiu Jitsu engaged our 6 year old on Day 1 with fun animal-like exercises, class discussions on how to handle bullies by just talking to them and learning effective physical self-defense without having to hurt anyone. Our daughter tried other martial arts where she got bored and disinterested after a couple weeks. Now, her confidence is way up, shyness is way down and she can't wait until her next class! These guys are great with instructing both adult and kids classes!

Over a year ago, we enrolled my son, Axl, at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Council Bluffs after he experienced a bullying situation. We were hoping to help him build confidence and feel empowered again—and this school has done exactly that and more. From the very first class, the coaches welcomed him with encouragement, structure, and genuine care. Watching him grow in skill and confidence has been one of the most rewarding experiences as a parent. When they introduced women’s self-defense (Women's Empowerment), my daughter Sylvia and I joined as well—and it has quickly become something we genuinely look forward to each week. Not only have we learned practical, potentially life-saving skills, but we’ve also found strength, community, and a sense of peace knowing we are capable of protecting ourselves. The environment is respectful, uplifting, and empowering for people of all ages and backgrounds. We are so grateful for the incredible instructors and the positive impact Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has had on our entire family. It’s more than just martial arts—it’s a support system, a confidence builder, and a place where you leave stronger every time.

I joined Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Council Bluffs a few months ago with zero martial arts experience and honestly, I was really nervous and awkward at first. I didn’t know what to expect, but with each class and each rep, that feeling started to go away. The students are always encouraging and supportive, and Coach Bob makes sure everyone gets the attention they need on their journey along with Valerie always being there helping students. In just a few months I’ve come a long way, and I’m so thankful to Coach Bob and Valerie for being such a big part of my progress.

I've had a wonderful experience training at this Jiu-Jitsu school! Bob and Joe are incredibly knowledgeable instructors who possess a remarkable teaching style. They explain techniques clearly and provide helpful feedback, ensuring that students of all levels can grasp the concepts. Beyond the excellent instruction, the atmosphere of the school is truly welcoming and supportive. From day one, I felt like part of a friendly community, where everyone encourages each other's progress. The cleanliness of the facilities is also noteworthy, making for a comfortable and hygienic training environment.

This gym has been fantastic, both for myself (a 46 y/o martial artist) and for my kids (2 boys and one girl!). The entire family loves it! The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and are absolutely, 100% able to execute and teach the Gracie techniques. What has been great is that despite the seriousness of learning BJJ, it’s always been in a relaxed, safe environment which has allowed for a smooth learning process. The coaches are fantastic at showing the potential brutality of the art, while at the same time ensuring the safety of their students and making sure everyone is having fun. I highly recommend Gracie Jiu Jitsu Council Bluffs to both new and experienced BJJ martial artists.
