It felt like home the day I walked into the Academy. Training under the tutlege of Master Trevor was a pleasure and learning experience. Unfortunately I got hurt at work and had to take a lengthy hiatus. When I got back I was welcomed with open arms. After some time and effort and the once in a lifetime I got to roll with my hero Royler Gracie. Again, I re-injured my neck, away from the gym. That was 6yrs ago and after 4 surgeries later I plan to rejoin the Lewis Team in the art of Karate this summer.

It has been wonderful to see how well my kids' skills and discipline have been developing over the past few months. Mr. Lewis is a great teacher and is amazing at dealing with kids.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Barrie! My son absolutely loves his Jiu Jitsu classes — from the very first session, he felt welcomed, motivated, and inspired. The atmosphere is incredibly positive and supportive, creating the perfect environment for kids to grow not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. Mr. Lewis is outstanding — not only knowledgeable and skilled, but also genuinely caring and encouraging. My son looks forward to every class and comes home excited to share what he’s learned. We’ve noticed a big boost in his confidence, discipline, and focus since starting the program. This place truly feels like a second home, and we’re so grateful to be part of such a fantastic community. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful place. These people are very professional, Mr. Lewis is extremely caring and treats the students like family. They handle matters in a calm, cool and collective way, and make sure everyone feels welcomed and seen. Mrs. Sandy is such a caring soul, and answers any questions you have without hesitation. My kids started in September and they never want to miss any days. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

I’ve been training at the Gracie Jiu Jitsu Barrie for close to 2 years, and it has been an incredible experience! Professor Lewis is highly knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping each student improve, whether they're a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner. As a blue belt, I’ve been impressed with the structured curriculum and how it continues to challenge me while building on foundational skills. The environment here is supportive and friendly, with teammates who push you to grow but are always respectful and encouraging. The gym fosters a true sense of community, making it a place I look forward to coming to every week. If you’re thinking about trying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or looking for a new gym to call home, I can’t recommend Gracie Jiu Jitsu Barrie enough! Try one class and you'll be hooked!
