Great gym. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is very strategy based. A lot of sparring from side control, full guard, usually whatever the days lesson was about. Very good, knowledgeable instructors. Really recommend.
My very first class I knew that I was going to love coming here. Gracie Barra has provided great atmosphere, outlet, and connections with people. It’s definitely been a great boost for my confidence .
GB Novi has a terrific culture. My son attends and while the classes are very challenging - as you would expect with BJJ - the focus is really on teaching. The instructors push the students in a very constructive / instructive way, and the more experienced athletes often help guide the newer members.
My son has been coming here for the last few years. He has gained confidence in himself and in his skills. The coaches are always so kind and willing to help and make each class a learning and fun experience!
My daughter loved her Jr classes!! They’re great at breaking down the moves, to make it easy for the Jr’s to keep progressing, and making it fun for the kiddos so they stay interested!!

Gracie Barra provides an outstanding learning environment for those interested in BJJ or Muay Thai! I was intimidated by the idea of showing up and trying a class, but as soon as I met Aline, she made me feel at home. I received the same vibe from all the other students: a family atmosphere with first-rate instruction. Everyone is challenged and encouraged to do their best. Every time I leave the class, I feel accomplished and self-confident! So, if you are interested or the slightest bit curious, you have nothing to lose, and it is guaranteed it will exceed your expectations!
i have had such an amazing time training with aline at her women’s only brazilian class! she does a great job at explaining the techniques and pays close attention to each person and gives feedback. all the girls there were also super welcoming and strong!

The teaching is thorough, and the workouts are challenging. Professor Burchfield and the other instructors take their time making sure everyone is moving forward in a manner that is effective for combat but safe during class. Can't recommend it enough.
My experience in class has been amazing. Such lovely people of a variety of skill levels. As a complete beginner I was pleasantly surprised to have someone with a lot of experience take the time to teach me one on one. The women's class provided me time to work with people closer to my skill level during any grappling experience. The smaller class sizes provided opportunity for the class instructor to come and correct any errors in technique.

My Experience at Gracie Barra was great! All the members of class were welcoming, truly helped me out to get my technique right, Coach Aline was truly exceptional, she gave step by step instruction of each move and counterattacks, gave attention to every individual and encouraged students to spar more to become better in the martial art form! I originally chose this place for Brazilian Jujitsu because they offered classes for both my 3 and 5-year-old children. The coaches are truly exceptional, skilled, patient, and incredibly understanding of the unique needs of such a young age group. I think this is a great place if you want to practice martial arts. Greg is such a great teacher, i learned so much the first day when I went in for the trial class. Everyone was really friendly also.
My 5 year old daughter and I have been attending GB Novi since last summer. I cannot say enough good things about this school. Give it a try, you will not regret it. Btw Muay Thai program is top notch. as well.

I attended Gracie Barra for Jiu Jitsu classes and had a great time. Unfortunately due to health reasons I had to quit but for a first timer with no experience, everybody was so welcoming, knowledgeable and supportive. I am sad to be leaving!
I did jiu-jitsu here for about two years and really enjoyed my time. I'm really grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and get stronger. I was humbled by what I learned and so thankful I stuck with it. You learn a lot in the classes and it's really useful. I was so happy to train here.

I tried out this gym earlier this year and I loved the people who work there! They have a lot of classes and it can fit any schedule. Also it’s a very clean facility. Highly recommend!
Did Muay Thai and BJJ twice a week for a few months. I would keep going, but my hectic schedule doesn't allow for it at the moment. All the coaches are GREAT and are extremely knowledgeable. They pay special attention to newcomers and make them feel like they are always welcome. Great emphasis on foundation and fundamentals.

The instructors have created a great environment and atmosphere at Gracie Barra Novi. A great place for all levels from beginner (like me) to advanced and experienced Jui-Jitsu practitioners. I highly recommend to anyone looking to challenge themselves and reach their individual goals in a very supportive environment!

Kids loved jujitsu his first day . He was having behavior issues in school , he’s doing much better . He now is doing both juijitsu and mauy thai .
My kids love this place and all coaches! Friendly atmosphere, respect to each other and good memories from the summer time spent on the boat last summer!
My son goes to class here and they have a great range of kids here for him to continue to grow with all different skill sets and belt levels. Everyone is very friendly from the students to the staff. The focus on not only the martial art itself but also making sure the kids have fun and stay disciplined in their craft they are learning. I would without hesitation recommend anyone to go here.

My son has studied here for two years. He learned techniques and more important thing is to learn never give up.
Cannot say enough good things about this gym. Professor Greg and his team of coaches are so skilled at teaching kids discipline along with the techniques. We have a 6yr old and 10yr old in classes and both have benefited in attitude as well as exercise. As a family we have made some great friends, parents and kids. Definitely recommend.
Gracie has been our home gym for the past 4 years. We love it for our daughter and I recently joined myself. It's been a great confidence booster and I've made improvements on the mat and in my personal life.

This is a great gym to train at. People of all experience levels train here and you don't need to be intimidated if you don't have experience or feel you aren't in good shape. Everyone is very welcoming.

This is a great gym. My son and I are taking Muay Thai and love it. The instructors are awesome. They provide a high intensity work out, while letting you do what is appropriate for your level of fitness. I am glad I found this gym.
Nice, family friendly gym. Coaches are great with kids. Coach Gregg is really focused not only on BJJ training with the kids but also creating community within the gym for the families. Lots of fun events around holidays at the gym.

GB Novi is a top-flight school. The coaches and Professor are skilled (with wins to back them up) and enthusiastic. Many students come from different martial arts backgrounds, and everyone adds a little of themselves to what we all do on the mat. No matter your partner, you're sure to learn.

Gracie Barra Novi is a wonderful gym for those who are at all levels of experience in BJJ. This gym is a great environment, and everyone there feels like family. I have had an amazing experience at Gracie Barra Novi. The coaches are excellent. I would highly recommend attending the lunch Jiu-Jitsu class. It is coached by Coach Jon. He does an excellent job of teaching the steps to master a technique but also explains the reasons for each step. This really helps to lock the moves into your memory banks. I highly recommend Gracie Barra and this location. I hope to see you at lunch for a fun sparring session!

The coaches are the best and very helpful. I have never done any martial arts and barely workout on my own but I always wanted to learn some sort of martial art and I also wanted to get a very good workout in. The work is pretty intense but you will definitely see results. Everyone in the class is great and I never felt like I was falling behind everyone else and just didn't know what to do. 10/10 would recommend. I had looked at a couple other places prior and I just don't think they provide the type of attention that Gracie Barra can provide.
Never had any martial art training before in my 37 years of life, and I was becoming lazy and finally decided to visit Gracie Barra; it was intimidating at first.
2 classes into my journey, I realized how amazing this place is. Our venerable Professor, Coach Greg are the two most patient, encouraging, kind & amazing teacher you would find. The training is very effective, helped me gain focus , confidence and take a huge leap towards being fit.
This place is like a big family, I would never hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to make a change in their life, I can guarantee it will be worthwhile.
This place is the best. Great coaches that make the training fun but real and a real community of students. The kickboxing training is so much fun and challenging. Whether you want to learn self defense or just have fun, both will be found here.

One of the best place to learn Martial Arts. I witnessed how the coaches were teaching the kids on Jiu jitsu, Very supportive to each kid. Focusing on every kid in the class is really complicated but the team really did well. I strongly recommend👍
I have been training Jiu-Jitsu for about 4 years and spent the last year at Gracie Barra Novi; I’ve since switched gyms due to the exorbitant cost of GB Novi. At GB Novi, monthly cost is based on how frequently you attend class. For example, I paid $159/month for 2 classes/week. However, if you plan on progressing in your training you must attend the advanced classes which bumps the monthly cost up to $189/month regardless of how often you can attend per week. In addition to this monthly cost, GB Novi charges $80 - $100 for every belt test which are typically 3 hours in duration and located in Burton, MI for advanced students. You are also required to wear all Gracie Barra gear (Gi, rash guards, shorts, etc.) which adds an additional cost and in my opinion is overpriced gear. Also, BEWARE, if you join, you sign a contract that states you must give two-month advanced notice prior to cancellation or pay the fee for the full two months. I never received a copy of the signed contract until disputing the cancellation fee, so ask for one if you sign up. Also, you are not released from paying your monthly dues even if you get injured (as the contract states that you can still come to class to observe). The schedule in the gym is limited, as classes are only offered in the evening and advanced classes only occur 2-3 days per week. GB Novi is very focused on competition and sport Jiu-Jitsu, rather than self-defense.
We are paying money for training not for snow days or other BS, also this is not our problem you don't have enough couches so you can cancel classes, belt tests and seminars during the class time No, one more time NO.
P.S. make sure you read contract fully before signing, there are some tricky moments!
