I've had the opportunity to train at many academies over the years, and as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, I can't say enough good things about this one. The coaches have built an environment where everyone is encouraged to improve while still feeling welcome, regardless of their experience level. A special shout-out to Jeff, Chris, and Panda Dave for their time, patience, and dedication to building the next generation of martial artists. Their knowledge, attention to detail, and genuine commitment to helping every student grow make every class worthwhile. Whether you're looking to compete, get in shape, learn self-defence, or simply become part of an amazing community, this is an outstanding place to train. I highly recommend it.
This review is long overdue! Our five year old daughter started the tiny program in May and our experience has been amazing. We were looking for something to help boost her confidence and social skills that we felt she was lacking due to being unable to attend kindergarten while her little sister was awaiting open heart surgery. Once everything went well for her sister, we started looking around for Jiu Jitsu places for her to start. We called a few different ones and decided on Gracie Barra Manotick based solely on good vibes. Whoever answered the phone was incredibly positive and patient and offered for our daughter to come by any time to watch a class or even join one to try to see if she was interested. Sienna made her feel so welcome and helped her settle in to the class and stayed with her until she was comfortable. She helped her choose her gi and is always so sweet to her. Coach Macky has been instrumental in her journey training wise. We have watched our daughter go from a kid that was too shy to look up, to one that is actively raising her hand to participate in activities. All thanks to Coach Macky! He is so amazing with the kids and has made her experience so fun and positive. He is such a good person and I am forever grateful to him for helping our daughter feel so included and confident. Everyone here is so friendly and kind. Because of Gracie Barra Manotick, I feel confident our daughter will be able to tackle Grade 1 with ease. Thank you!
Our kids have been training at Gracie Barra Manotick for about two years now, since they were four and six, and I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. It has honestly become our second home. They train four to five times a week and still get excited to go every single time. From the very beginning the staff were incredibly welcoming. Coach Panda, who manages the location, is especially amazing with kids. He has a great way of making them feel comfortable while also bringing out discipline, listening, and respect for others. It is clear he really understands how to connect with children and help them grow both on and off the mats. Coach Diego has worked with my kids since the start as well. He is an incredible coach and such a great role model. The same can be said for all the kids coaches, including Coach Mackey and Coach Nathan. They are fantastic with children and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. Their patience is truly next level. Emilia at the front desk is also such an important part of what makes this place so special. She helps manage everything and always makes time for the kids. Mine are always excited to see her when we walk in. One of the things that has impressed me the most is the culture among the kids. The older or more experienced kids are always helping the younger ones and cheering them on. It is really incredible to see how this place instills that kind of behaviour where kids genuinely want to help the ones who come after them succeed. My kids have learned so much here. They have been competing for the last year and their technique and love for the sport has grown far beyond what we ever expected when we first signed them up just hoping for some exercise and discipline. We are so grateful for the experience we have had here. If you are looking for a welcoming place for your child or even for yourself to learn jiu jitsu, this is absolutely the place to go.
We absolutely love Gracie Barra in Manotick! The coaches are incredibly professional and create a supportive environment for both kids and adults. It’s by far the best martial arts program we’ve experienced — the classes are engaging, structured, and motivating. The staff are always welcoming and friendly, making every visit a positive experience. Highly recommend for families looking to build confidence, discipline, and skills in a fun and encouraging way!
I highly recommend Gracie Barra! I had the opportunity to have Panda Dave as a coach multiple times this summer and he is amazing! He is technical, motivating and very passionate. He always made us feel welcomed & never hesitated to answer questions. If you are looking for a great full body workout, this is the place!

Great club with high level BJJ and Muay Thai. The facilities are super clean and bright. The coaches are all amazing with the adults and kids! It's a wonderful melting pot of all demographics and super inviting!

The facilities are top-notch, clean, and well-maintained, which creates a comfortable environment for training. Plus, the class schedule is flexible, making it easy to fit workouts into a busy lifestyle. What truly sets this gym apart, though, is the sense of community. I've made some fantastic friends here who share the same passion for martial arts. It's not just a place to work out; it's a place where you can grow as an athlete and as a person.
