These people are absolutely AWESOME!!! They truly love what they do and care for all the kids in their classes. My son loves his professors so much he runs towards them to give them big hugs! (This is uncommon) They instill discipline, and help him stay focused. They are incredibly professional and polite. I would recommend them to anyone!!!
I was in El Paso for a few months on business from APR-AUG and wanted to continue training. Honestly, it was fate that I chose this gym, and I’m glad I did. Great atmosphere, was welcoming and staff was professional. I learned a lot while I was there, and the training is excellent for all skill levels. Huge shoutout to Professor Jeff and Frisco for their amazing hospitality,I appreciate it!
I was in town on business and invited to the school by Professor Lozano. I train in Houston and you hear all kinds of horror stories about schools that just work you over. Not here. Everyone was nice, showed incredible control and were very welcoming. If you're new or maybe intimidated by the idea of BJJ this is a great school to learn.

I can’t say enough good things about this gym. They were so welcoming to our whole family. My son started when he was 4 and they take training very seriously and don’t let the kids mess around. We tried out 3 other gyms before picking this one. This was the only one where the coaches balanced the kids having fun while simultaneously prioritizing training. It’s so so great for my son to have and see other adults in his life that prioritize rules and respect. It really helps us with discipline and parenting!! 5 starts on cleanliness too :)

I live in Arizona and was in El Paso visiting family. I have been doing BJJ in AZ and decided to visit Gracie Barra El Paso. Having only ever been to one school I was nervous as it was similar to the very first time you ever walk into a school. I was quickly greeted by several students and coach, Fred. Coach Fred’s instruction was spot on and very detailed, and I learned a lot from my first class. I look forward to going back each time I visit El Paso, and bringing my daughters to the kids class. My son have trained at Gracie Barra El Paso since 2014. We enjoy the exceptional training environment provided by Professors Jeff and Frisco and the entire coaching staff. Professors Jeff and Frisco are both black belts and are highly knowledgeable and very patient. All of the coaches (Myriah, Jon, Fred, Rogers and Micah), coaches assistants and teammates make Gracie Barra El Paso the greatest place to train BJJ. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu itself is therapeutic and a lot of fun but GBEP makes the experience that much better.

We absolutely love the Coaches here! The amount of patience, discipline, encouragement, & careful explanation of Brazil Jiu-jitsu and has been an amazing experience. We never feel intimated. This academy prides itself in its teachings. Professor Jeff Vigil and Professor Frisco De Leon are top notch. Both Professors take the time to make sure students are taught properly. Coach Mando has the heart of a lion and makes sure all his students are cared for properly. I’d recommend this place to anyone whether you’re into self defense or a great workout. 10 Stars.

Great place to train! I have two kids ages 7 and 4 who enjoy training here. They look forward to being with their teammates and coaches. The staff is friendly and the coaches go over and beyond to teach and help the kids.

I have three children at Gracie Barra. A 13 yr & 10 old girl and a 8 yr old boy. I would have to say the coaches & professors are amazing here. My kids have learned so much and they continue to learn. I would not have them train any other place.
I tried other places but had no success. Everyone here is very friendly and they make sure the kids understand what they are doing. Coach Alex is always helping my kids out which i think is amazing. Great place.
There’s plenty of instructors to help instruct kids individually and give the individual attention they need. My son (4) loves it so much, he asks to go everyday! It gives him a great source of pride and they are very family friendly and family oriented. Definitely would recommend this place.
This place has been so great for my three year old! Even thought he cried the first couple of lessons the instructors were so attentive and never gave up on him. He got all the encouragement he needed and now he loves it. I really can't say enough about the instructors and the ladies at the front desk who are so friendly and sweet.
My Son is In the tiny champions program! He is extremely timid but has been coming out of his shell more and more all thanks to the amazing instructors at GBEP! Highly recommended!

All I can say is that my life has been 100 times better since training at Gracie Barra. They make you feel like family and I definitely consider it a home away from home!
Great place for the entire family to train. I typically do not review anything but had to make a point or two after reading a prior review. Myself and my 4 children have the ability to train here and with all of us having access to classes every day of the week (7 days a week for an adult with multiple class times daily and 6 times a week for the kids with toddler specific classes for the young ones) I have never come close to paying 400.00 a month. Ever. Professor Jeff and his team are amazing with the kids and my kids can be difficult. (High energy, easily distracted) I have been inconsistent with training and not once have I ever received disparaging remarks or ridicule. Only encouragement to continue to attend. I would suggest any reader to see for yourself before taking any negative reviews at face value. Knowing GBEP first hand I could only say that any negative review or claims of 400.00 fees, out of shape instructors or issues with the facility are likely to be based on ego or personal issues/agendas more than reality.
Professor Vigil, along with the other instructors, are well versed in the art and are more than able to reach each individual's learning style. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

The professor is amazing with both kids and adults. No other jiu-jitsu academy in the area offers as many classes as they do, either. Highest ranked jiu-jitsu Blackbelt in El Paso.
I am convinced many of the reviews here are inflated and artificial and here is why. Perhaps a few may be genuine. Professor Jeff Vigil, the individual who owns the actual gym, spends very little time actually in the gym itself. The majority of the time he is off traveling. I feel that more money should be invested in to the westside location rather than the owners country wide traveling expenses. The gym is hot and the air conditioner is either not functioning or they’re choosing to only run the blower to save money. Again, this is annoying to me when you take in to account that the head professor is always out of town. Another issue is that there aren’t enough coaches and it often feels that this place is running on a skeleton crew. The main coaches and resident professor, Frisco, do their best at teaching and instructing but when personal issues arise such as illness, time off etc the place suffers from a lack of staff. Especially when the owner is not there to step in and fill the void. The resident staff is the only reason I have continued membership.
Hello Google people !!! So Im in El paso for a few months with the military and looking for something positive to get involved with with my off duty time. So, I decided to get back into BJJ after a long break of about 10 + years. Did my Google search and see there are two Gracie Barra schools in El Paso. GB is a ligit organization with a solid rep. I go to check them out with the intention to start training asap. Also wanted ✔️ the vibe, instructions, ect.there. Long story short. I saw three BB on the mats a few BRB. One of the instructors looked to be the main instructor from the website. The common denominator (and the main bb instructor always sets the tone of an academy) was unfriendly and unwelcoming. No eye contact from anyone from the instructors, staff, or even students. (Yes, I am friendly and smile... genuinely approachable) Felt kinda like when you go to a store or restaurant and the staff ignores you but they talk to and are friendly with each other yet make you feel invisible .... yeah kinda like that. I was there about 15 minutes before the start of the class I was interested in and stayed for 20 minutes after it started. The cold treatment continued till I turned to walk out. One person did smile and say hey on my way out ...he was the guy doing some maintenance on the facility...nice guy :o)
If I could leave a no star I would... My grandson was enrolled for almost 2 years with this outfit. He decided that he no longer had an interest in the martial arts. My daughter tried cancelling the now no contract month to month and was informed as she was standing in the facility you'll have to email your request? She did so and the female assisting her said just suspend his quote agreement for 90 days rationale that way he wouldn't have to pay re-enrollment fees.... The 90 days expired and my debit card was again debited by this company. I called to find out what was going on and the response was quote we never received another email to cancel permanently. I told the female that I his grandfather had been paying for the classes and I would stop payment if they continued to bill my debit card. She then stated we'll send you to collections... Unethical, immoral, and poor customer service.... I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. BEWARE....
The tutors are out of shape and get tired VERY quickly. They get mad if you ask questions and laugh at you. The place is small and old. Costs more than 400 dollars a month. I paid expecting - at the very least - decent treatment. After 3 months, I have finally decided to quit. In my humble opinion, this is the worst way to spend your money.
