We are a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy based in Darlaston. As part of the Gracie Barra brand, we offer a wide range of classes each week to everyone; from children to adults, beginners to advanced, all led by our world class coaches in a safe and friendly environment.

This is honestly the best Jiu Jitsu school I could have asked for. Amazing atmosphere, great people and top-level coaching.Dill and Pete are fantastic instructors — they explain everything in a way that is easy to understand, always help you improve and make every class enjoyable at the same time. The training is professional but also really fun, which makes you want to keep coming back. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, you feel welcomed and supported here. Changed my life for the better, gave me something to look forward to that was positive for a change, great bunch of people to train with and the coaches are top tier, im sure alot of gyms out there are very money motivated trying to upsell, you wont ever have to deal with that at gracie barra darlo its all about the training and improvment, I couldnt ask for anything more in a place to train

100% recommend very welcoming and both coach Dill and Pete are very knowledgeable in bjj and you’ll even get some good lessons/concepts that cross over to real life.

Gracie Barra Darlaston has created an absolutely amazing environment to train in. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed, supported, and part of a real family. The gym is incredibly family‑friendly, with students of all ages training together in a positive and respectful atmosphere. The professors are outstanding — knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in everyone’s progress. Their attention to detail when teaching techniques is second to none, making every session both fun and highly effective. Couldn’t recommend this place more. A brilliant academy with an even better community.

. It’s hard to explain why this place deserves 5 stars — it’s a bit like trying to explain why you love your family. You just feel it from the moment you walk in. 🤷‍♂️ From the first day I brought my kids here and stepped onto the mat myself, I never regretted the decision. What I found was much more than just a gym. I found great people, good friends, and became part of something bigger — a real community. All of the coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely happy to share what they know. No matter your level, they always take the time to help, explain techniques, and repeat things again and again with patience and respect. The atmosphere here is welcoming, supportive, and motivating for both adults and kids. Very grateful to be part of this place. Serge 🤙🤙🤙

I’ve had a great experience training at Gracie Barra Darlaston. The atmosphere is welcoming, professional, and supportive whether you’re a complete beginner or have years of experience. Everyone pushes each other to improve, but it always feels like a team environment. Professor Dillion is an outstanding coach and mentor. His knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is top level, and he explains techniques in a way that’s easy to understand and apply. He’s patient, encouraging, and genuinely cares about every student’s progress both on and off the mats. The structure of the classes, attention to detail, and positive energy he brings make every session enjoyable and productive. Highly recommend Gracie Barra Darlaston to anyone looking to learn BJJ, improve fitness, build confidence, and be part of a great community.

Having taken an extended break from martial arts that unfortunately last over 15 lazy years of inconsistent training. 2.5 years ago, at age 39 I was inspired to join Gracie Barra Darlaston after signing my daughter up to the kids classes there, one month prior to signing myself up and watching her learn. Two of the best decisions I've made for both of us, as we now travel this learning journey together. Her confidence has soared and her school teachers have all stated that this happened when she started learning and training at Gracie Barra Darlaston. As she often shares stories of her experiences with classmates and school staff. Coach Dillon has a natural talent for working with and supporting children. As a youth worker with over 25 years experience, this is obvious to me. I'd highly recommend some sort of self defence for everyone. And bjj is one of the top self defence styles recommended internationally. This is a great place to train, learn, meet new people and even come across some familiar faces from other walks of life. Bjj is for everyone, it will humble you and then rebuild your confidence to new heights. The coaching at Gracie Barra Darlaston is top shelf stuff, elite concepts and techniques with a warm, friendly environment full of swet, smiles and lot's of laughs along the way. There's plenty of support from everyone. No bad intentions and a great vibe! Come join us and see!

Training at Gracie Barra Darlaston has genuinely been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From day one, I was welcomed in like family – no egos, no judgement, just an incredible group of people who all want to see each other grow. Professor Pete is an outstanding instructor, not just in terms of BJJ technique but in life lessons too. He’s taught me to be first, to act with intention, and to toughen up in the right ways. His approach blends technical detail with mindset and discipline, making every class as valuable mentally as it is physically. Coach Dillon is equally brilliant – always patient, always encouraging, and able to break things down so anyone can understand. His passion for the sport is infectious, and you can’t help but be motivated when you’re learning from him. The students here are more than training partners – they become friends and family. Everyone supports each other, celebrates wins together, and pushes each other to be better without ever creating an intimidating or egotistical atmosphere. It’s honestly addictive. Once you start, you’ll find yourself counting down the hours until your next session. I’ve been to a few different BJJ gyms in the past few years but this by far is my favourite. I’ve been attending sessions since July 2023 and Coach Dillion, Coach Peter and Coach Paul are amazing, not only are they welcoming and make you feel at ease and part of the club from the moment you walk through the doors but they also pay attention to every member, old or new. The fact that they truly care and want you to succeed and you’re not just a gym member but a family member. No hard, pushy sales talk either which was a breath of fresh air. One of the only gyms that I’ve come across that has an on-site Gym and consistent Strength & Conditioning sessions early mornings. My eldest (18) who trained (stopped during the Pandemic) at a different gym in Birmingham came to a session and loved it so much that he wants to restart BJJ whilst at University.

I really wanted to try BJJ so I made contact with several martial arts clubs in my local area. I found Gracie Barra Darlaston the most approachable, welcoming and friendly of them all. Started training with Gracie Barra Darlaston at the beginning of March 2023 and have loved every session. You couldn’t ask for a better club the coaches are knowledgeable, accommodating professional and they have created a club that is hardworking and friendly whilst delivering quality training!!

I joined here on January 2013 and have not looked back since. Gracie Barra Darlaston is by far one of the best places I have ever been to. The instructors are open ended with their teaching allowing you to develop in the best way possible while helping you with your goals. From avid competitors to hobbyists the gym has a diverse group of practitioners who are all helpful and kind. This is without a doubt one of the best training facilities in the area. On top of excellent equipment and instruction the facility boasts a gym and access to other Gracie Barra locations, a clean bathroom with sauna and shower service, stocked soap and an awesome, helpful staff. If you want to learn Jiu Jitsu, pick up training again, or just get fit in an interesting way, this is the gym to do it!
