we have had our 8 year old in Jiu Jitsu at Gracie Barra since February of 2025 and have absolutely loved every second of it. we now have our 5 year old signed up and are so excited to watch them both grow in this sport! the gym is 20/10! very professional and respectful towards everyone. I love that the professors push the kids to reach their highest potential! any expectations we had have been blown out of the water! I recommend this gym to anyone who is interested! and it's super affordable for our family!

Professor Zaza and Edgar are the best. I started BJJ with my son and we are both still rolling! If you are looking for a great place to Learn or practice martial arts, this is the place. Both Edgar and Zaza are intentional with the training they do. My two kids ages 13 and 16 love going here. One thing that stands out, is that the training Is not a soft sort of training. It’s great because it allows you to learn for a real life environment situation if needed.

I had been looking forward to GB Cibolo opening ever since I saw the sign go up earlier this year, and they have not disappointed! It is a great location, with excellent instructors with Professors Zaza and Edgar. Both of my kids are now on the mats there and have had a great experience. Professor Zaza maintains a great balance of fun and discipline during the kids classes, keeping them on track and excited to be there. If you have ever considered trying BJJ, GB Cibolo is a great spot to start, with a welcoming group of students on the mats, and great Professors to guide you on the path!

We signed our kids up because they were previously going to another Gracie Barra location but we recently moved and needed to find another one. We were happy at our last location but the professors at this location really stand out with how great they are with the kids. They push them just the right amount without being too aggressive. It’s just the right amount to encourage them to try and are constantly correcting them if they’re developing bad habits. They also give great feedback when the kids are doing moves correctly and praise.

Gracie Barra Cibolo is a beautiful new school with two very experience teachers guiding the classes. Professor Zaza and Professor Edgar are both outstanding detailed oriented instructors. I have been training with Professor Edgar for 2 years and my jujitsu has grown by leaps and bounds. Professor Zaza is new to the area and offers a fun and unique approach to kids classes that I found to be not only efficient but engaging. I have trained at several other schools and this is the only kids class I have seen that moved so smoothly and safely with a class full of beginner kids. Can't say enough of the the team they have there.

Safe and great place to learn self-defense for all ages. Family oriented and very accommodating to your needs. Not only do you learn self-defense, but you also get a great workout to release any frustrations you may have! At first, my daughter and I were hesitant since we are so used to doing traditional martial arts (Taekwondo). Plus, we didn't know how to feel after watching several videos on the website which consisted of close contact with one another. However, after the first day, we were hooked. I love how it is very family oriented and how the professors are very accommodating to our needs. Being a veteran with PTSD, the professors worked with my daughter and myself and had us spar with one another until we felt comfortable to work with others. In the past, I was not a fan nor was I knowledgeable of jiu-jitsu. After attending this class, we are addicted!! Plus, there is no limit to the number of days during the week you can attend the class. Furthermore, the time scheduled to attend classes are convenient and do not interfere with my daughter’s school schedule, or my work schedule. What makes Gracie Barra Brazilian Jui Jitsu even great is that I am able to do classes with my teenage daughter at the same time. Highly recommend this place without a doubt!

I started Jiu-jitsu at Gracie Barra Westside because my girlfriend was already training there. I fell in love with the sport immediately and started to compete, travel, and visit other locations. It was only then that I realized how fortunate we were to have a professor like Zaza. He created an environment that could facilitate all levels and empower individuals with different journeys and goals. We had people training two days a week and others training to become world champions. He proved to be a great mentor with the tremendous knowledge of jiu-jitsu, the wisdom to coach, and the spirit of a champion. It has been 2.5 years since I started and because of all the sport has to offer I brought numerous friends and family in to try it. They have loved it. One friend lost 60 pounds. Most recently, my daughter and my son-in-law both got their first stripe, and my granddaughter got her first stripe on her grey belt. Three generations are happy and healthy because jiu-jitsu. Thank you, Gracie Barra, and thank you, Zaza.

He will push you, he will correct you, but above all that he will LEAD you. We have both learned a tremendous amount from him and would recommend him to anyone interested in the Jiu Jitsu discipline. His leadership pushes you to challenge yourself and to carry yourself in a professional manner both on and off the mats.
