Posted 2 years agoMy friend and I train at a GB in Canada and were visiting Arizona for GBF Camp! Towards the end of our trip, we were able to visit GB Arcadia, and it was such a lovely experience, everyone was so welcoming! Professor Josh is an amazing teacher. We mainly trained with Roni, who is so helpful and friendly!
The team here at GB Arcadia is awesome and world class! Our kids love training here and can’t get enough. The Professors are professional, kind, welcoming and simply amazing people!
I rolled while I was out of town here. I loved the friends I made and when I’m visiting, will stop by again. Thank you for welcoming me!
My Family and I travel from GB indonesia to GB Arizona to train for our PanAm competition and our prof highly recommended us to train here. We were accepted with open heart and treated like family here, which is the standard for all Gracie Barra all over the world. Thank you specially Prof Ryan, Prof Mei and all the competition team in GB to help us prepare for the competition also not to forget individual members that were helping up to train toward the competition I highly recommend this place to train Jiu Jitsu for young, old and family.
I had the opportunity to visit this school as I was in town for work. I travel quite a bit and this is yet another example of the amazingly high standards that I’ve learned to expect from Gracie Barra schools around the country. Professor Ryan and Professor Mei could not have been more welcoming and made me feel like I was at my home gym in Missouri. They were very attentive and took time to make sure I understood the techniques that were taught that night. Whether you are already a Jui Jitsu student or thinking about trying it for the first time, please go visit this gym! I know I will definitely be back if I travel there again. Coaches are super amazing with all ages of kids!! I’m super thankful for their high spirited teachings (especially character building) which have inspired my little one (age 8) to improve his attitude and work ethic both at school and home. It takes a commUNITY to raise these kiddos 🙏

This is a wonderful studio for kids and adults alike. Started training when I was 44 and they made it very easy to assimilate. This place truly is “jujitsu for everyone!”

A great school to go to if you’re very serious about learning jiu jitsu and are looking to train all the time on a regular basis. The instructors are awesome; friendly and very engaging while also not being afraid to push you to try harder and get better.

Professor Murillo is a gem! He has ability to connect, teach and inspire, all while instilling disapline and confidence. My son has grown so much under his direction and I've learned a great deal from just watching. I am glad we have stuck with it!

Gracie Barra as a whole is an incredible team! Professor Murillo and his team at GB Phoenix are outstanding. Murillo takes an old school mentality and applies it in a new school way. He's been amazing with my 11 year old son. He knows how to instill discipline while still making it fun and educational. My son has grown by leaps and bounds since he started working with Murillo. Gracie Barra does a great job of promoting team & family. Highly recommend!
Our whole family loves GB Phoenix. The staff is super friendly, and have a love for BJJ. Everyone from the 3 year old kids to the adults are there to learn and have fun. It's an amazing environment to be a part of. If you haven't been in, come try it. It's hard to walk in and not feel like a part of the team/family.
My husband and I joined not knowing what to expect. What came out of the journey is an understanding of how to defend yourself and a whole new family. The Professors and Coaches make learning experience fun. I also realized that I could get in shape while having fun. I highly recommend trying it out

My sister has been training at GB phoenix for a year and a half she loves it when she does Jui jitsu she has this big smile on her face I know she's going to do this for the rest of her life she is a multi medalist and she is committed to training hard every day...she used to be shy and follow what people say but now jui jitsu has gave her self confidence and now she's not afraid to fight for what she believes in she's wanted in Australia and other places and I'm so proud of her and it's all because of her dreams of being successful and jui jitsu helping persue her dreams☺😜
I have been with Gracie Barra Phoenix since February of 2017 and I'm glad I never quit and I trained as hard as I can every single day they are my second family and I can't help but say thank u to every one of them I don't know how life would of been without them.
I have always been a fan of Brazilian jiu-jitsu .Never thought it would be an intricate part of my life. Until one morning in November '16 when I received a call from my daughter's school that she was getting bullied to the point she wanted it all to go away. I was devastated that my at the time 10yr was feeling like this. Searching for options I came across a Facebook page for Gracie Barra Brazilian jiu-jitsu I went in to see what they could offer and after they heard my story they took my daughter into a family of caring people. She went to her first class telling me "I'll try it out but I dont think I'll like it!" She loved the class and after that day I saw a scared girl start to transform to a fierce warrior. The staff is amazing, their knowledge of jiu-jitsu is tremendous. They just dont talk the talk , they walk the walk. The staff hold multiple championships under their respective belts including World Championships! The Gracie Barra organization is the largest BJJ organization in the world with over 600 schools spanning the globe. Fast forward to present day my daughter is a multi-time medalist is various tournaments including placing in the 2018 Pan Kids tournament! Gracie Barra Phoenix is a loving family of caring people who step on the mat of brotherhood for the common goal of making the mind, body, and spirit better. Whether you are 3yo or 103 Gracie Barra Phoenix Brazilian jiu-jitsu is the right move for your. They offer classes to fit your schedule. If it's lunchtime classes or evenings, they got a class! This is a great studio. Great emphasis is placed on instruction and technique and everyone is very friendly and welcoming.
My three sons have been training at Gracie Barra Phoenix for over 6 months. It is an outstanding learning environment. Being all brothers, they enjoy the physical aspect of Jiu Jitsu, but as their mother, I appreciate the character building that is built within the Gracie Barra program. Professor Murillo and his team do a wonderful job of teaching their students how to protect themselves in a bully situation, but also how to treat others with cooperation and respect.
My son started training at Gracie Barra Phoenix when it opened back in 2017. He's almost four years old now and the lessons have been incredibly good for him. He's learned respect, responsibility, and a level of discipline that you would think unlikely in such a young child. I'm a firm believer in starting young people in martial arts training as early as is feasible, and Gracie Barra has a great outlook and awesome programs for both kids and adults. In fact I was so envious watching my son have so much fun I signed up for lessons myself. I highly recommend this establishment and have enjoyed working with them.

The best Jiu Jitsu school in Phoenix, I’ve been training for 7 years and I have not found any better instructors or training partners. Professor Murillo is a 3rd degree black belt under Master Carlos Gracie Jr himself and he had the best instructors helping him with the classes. Besides the training they have am awesome spacious facility that’s always clean. I would not recommend any other school to go train Jiu Jitsu at, Gracie Barra Phoenix is the place to be.
My grandson has some learning delays, and these instructors have been incredible with him. His response to there training has also helped him at home and preschool. I wouldn't trust anyone else with his instruction.
Excellent Gracie Barra facility! Very professional and welcoming environment. My Wife and I took a trial class and were ready to sign up. Unfortunately we both had sudden changes to our work schedules and will not be able to train in the near future. Coach Joao and Program Manager was very understanding to our situation and did an outstanding job trying every possible way to accomodate us to make training possible. Although our schedule is to full now we hope to see you guys again in the future.

It's been four months since my niece has been to classes. She moved outside of the Gracie Barra service area, but Gracie Barra is still taking money from my account! $358 is what they've taken out of my account since I've informed them my niece no longer can attend classes. When I notified them they gave me two different instructions on how to cancel the account and I did them both. The customer service numbers they gave me got no where, one goes to a voicemail each time and I called many times! Closing my account is the one experience I won't forget. The receptionist (Daniel) was a jerk to talk about my niece's eating habits and assume she was not going to classes because she wanted to sit at the t.v. to her face. I was sitting right there and kept a fake face just has he did, I corrected him. Then, when I brought up the age-grouped issue he said "well it's just like public schooling, right". I was so disappointed... public school is free and more organized. While my niece was in classes I noticed many things that I should have spoken up about. E.g. there are suppose to be aged grouped classes, the mats should been cleaned etc. Things may have gotten better since. However, the coaches are very kind and the share excellent teachings to the students on and off the mat. I hope my review helps others but I also hope it helps me get my money back. I'm especially upset today because today Gracie Barra took another $169 around the time of my niece's birthday party! I was told by both the old receptionist - Daniel, and the new receptionist - João what did three months ago would close the account. *****update***** Since I created this review and other reviews, I finally got my money back and the account is closed. I added a star to my review only because a coach reached out personally via phone. However, this review is not personal to anyone but it's the true experience I had.
Way too expensive. Their prices we're more than double that of other BJJ places located only 10 minutes away. The coaches were solid and I'm sure it is a great place, but most of us can't afford such insane pricing.
This isn't a dis on the specific school, since the trainers are very good at their job, just a reminder to READ THE CONTRACT. There's nothing more disappointing than being forced to pay 2 months of tuition as a "cancellation fee", when the actual cost of the process is probably the click of a button, and when you can't even go to the gym anymore.
