I had been curious about getting involved with Jiu Jitsu for years. My hesitation was due to previous wear and tear my body, just starting this journey at 43 years old, and my uncertainty about the culture and environment. After some time observing the gym, the coaches, and the students, I decided to give in to my curiosity and allow myself to attend some classes at Freedom Jiu Jitsu. I couldn't be more content and elated with this decision. Staci and her team are high caliber, humble professionals, who are passionate about their practice. From day one I was welcomed with brotherly love. Everyone on the mat is respectful, and development at each individual's level is fostered in a way that creates a longing to keep coming back. Not just for training, but for community. Freedom Jiu Jitsu is not simply a gym, it is a culture, a community, and connection; not only as an individual, but also for the entire family. My young daughter and teenage son are now eager to experience what I have found to be a truly beautiful place to be and I couldn't be more eager to share this experience together with them. The variety of classes offered throughout the week also makes it really easy to show up regardless of how my schedule unfolds throughout the week. If you are looking for a place to get out of your head for a bit, a place to do something as a family, or are looking for a community of amazing people, this is the place.

Hi everybody, Chris here. Freedom Jiu Jitsu Carlsbad is the most welcoming, friendly gym I have ever joined. Freedom is a Community of people - parents, amazing children, families, men, women, just regular people. And let’s not forget the humble, attentive, skilled and devoted instructors. Shout out to professors Steve and Travis. Coach Edson gets special mention for my son, Jake. He just told me the other day he misses Muay Thai and wants to get back in. 6 am. 10 am. 5 pm. 8 pm. Doesn’t matter. When you walk through the door, they are there with open arms. Staci is the owner and you will have to wait a long while before you stumble across someone more committed to their students. Thank you all 😊

Just incredible! My kiddos have been members of the Freedom Family for years now. My daughter does Jiu Jitsu and my son, Muay Thai. Staci and her staff have created such a warm environment where everyone feels like family. My kiddos feels this and so do we. Thank you Freedom for welcoming us all into your arms!

My son started going to this gym a few years ago and has really enjoyed his time here. He has progressed from the kids class to the teens class and has also achieved two belt promotions. I decided to take a self-defense class they offered and ended up joining the gym too. I now attend the women's Jiu-Jitsu class and the Muay Thai class with my son. We love it here! The instructors are great and will listen and help if you have questions or concerns. Also, a huge part of why we continue to come to this gym is because of Staci. She's the owner and is an amazing person who is dedicated to making this gym special for everyone.
Freedom gym is a welcoming and family oriented environment. I really enjoy the women’s class and also watching the little ninjas roll around. Staci, the gym owner, has built a very special community for people to gather and grow strong together! She is a great inspiration to me - she is not only a black belt in BJJ and a hardworking business owner, but she is also a loving mother of 4 and overall badass human being!
Freedom Jiu Jitsu Academy has been a very special place for my family and I! Not only is it a great place to learn Jiu Jitsu but it has also given me a wonderful community of friends for my whole family from the start. If you are looking for a Jiu Jitsu gym where egos are left at the door, the kids love it so much they don’t want to leave, and you feel like you have a place… THIS IS THE SPOT! Dont let those cute kids having a great time fool you. The adults classes are amazing. New to Jiu jitsu? They don’t care, you will be welcomed by members and Professors alike. Just bring an open mind and be ready to smash or be smashed. Ive seen other places… and the ego mania is so off putting, especially for females. The ladies classes led by Professor Staci offer a phenomenal workout, lots of giggles, and the group of women are bar none top notch. I would trust these women with my children’s lives.. any day. This is not your typical Jiu Jitsu gym… we consider this our second home.
First time class for my 11 year old. They were so patient and kind with him. He now goes regularly and loves it!
Freedom Jiu Jitsu is the most important positive influence in my family's life outside our home. Staci has created an environment where my kids can flourish, develop confidence, self control, and protect themselves in any environment. Her staff of instructors are world class. If you have kids... YOU NEED THIS in their life.

Freedom is a great place to train! I have been training here for over 2 years now and love the clean facilities, experienced professors (trainers/teachers), and family friendly environment. My girls joined Freedom Jiu Jitsu Academy, Carlsbad when they were 8 years old and two years later they are still loving it. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable, patience and friendly. My kids have made new friends here and their confidence has grown immensely. They also take part in the Muay Thai training offered at Freedom Jiu Jitsu and I believe they enjoy this part the most! Coach Edson is amazing! He has a great skill of teaching self defense, discipline and mental toughness, while also making it fun for the kids at the same time. My son is very happy with this studio. The owner and instructor are out of this world. They are very friendly and flexible. Yesterday my son had a little issue during the training and they take care very very well that my son still would like to continue. I SUPER recommend this place.

Extremely welcoming group of people. Great training partners that are always looking out for you. Also a very diverse skillset and knowledge base which I have not found in many other gyms. There's at least one instructor for every style/preference. I typically travel to the area for work, and they always make my trips down there better. Something I look forward to every time.
My son loves training with his friends at Freedom Jiu Jitsu. The owner and instructors are so kind and patient with the kids and while they can be strict they are also so friendly! The location is really convenient and the class times work great for our schedule which is always changing. We definitely recommend this studio!

Freedom Jiu Jitsu is an amazing place to start your Jiu Jitsu journey. 2 years ago I stepped on the mats for the first time and as I continued to attend more classes, I really fell in love with Jiu Jitsu and the atmosphere that Freedom Jiu Jitsu offered. All the instructors are also very talented teachers and are able to teach and explain concepts in a way that different learners can understand. I have made many great friends and training partners during my time here and would definitely recommend this gym to anyone interested in learning the art of Jiu Jitsu.
What can I say… this place is amazing. Our two oldest, 12 and 8, love this place. From the very clean facility, to the amazing coaches and ownership, we could not feel more safe and secure here at Freedom. The lessons our kiddos are learning from respect of others, to respect for themselves we couldn’t have asked for a better place for our children to learn. Thank you Freedom for providing a fun and encouraging atmosphere.

I owe so much of their growth and development to Staci's unwavering support and mentorship. We're eagerly awaiting for my youngest to turn 3 so he can join the Little Ninjas program. At Freedom Jiu Jitsu, it's not just about martial arts; it's about fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. The entire team feels like family, and we couldn't be more grateful for the impact they've had on our lives.
Constant drama with regard to ownership and management. curriculum is completely disjointed and lacks any standup skills. Also probably the most expensive school around. Redeemed by a handful of great part-time professors.
