If you're looking for a place to train but feel held back by a lack of Jiu-Jitsu or grappling experience, I encourage you to visit Folgo Jiu-Jitsu. I have been training here for almost three years, and I can assure you that you won't find a gym like this anywhere in town. The classes are taught by Gene Folgo, a fantastic instructor with over 20 years of experience in the field. Highly recommended!!!

I myself have not participated as I don't do jujitsu but I do come by to watch occasionally as moral support for my partner who does. Love the vibes and it is very evident the students appreciate the instructor very much. He's very supportive and kindhearted. Very cool place, would recommend

If you’re looking for somewhere to learn BJJ in RI , then this is the place to go. I’ve been going a few weeks and found Gene to be extremely knowledgeable, highly skilled and passionate about teaching BJJ. The atmosphere was welcoming and supportive making it a great place for beginners. Classes are well-structured and focused on both technique and practical application. I would highly recommend Folgo to anyone looking to learn BJJ in a friendly and professional environment!

I was apprehensive about starting jiujitsu - being in my 40’s and out of shape so I checked out a few local places. I’m glad I settled on Folgo. Everyone is helpful and welcoming, regardless of your background or experience level. The owner / instructor has an impressive resume in his training and experience. People from all walks of life and all skill levels train here, if you’re on the fence, I urge you to try a class.

I've been going here for a few weeks now and the gym is great. I've gone to a number of gyms over the years and have very much enjoyed my time here: 1) (Maybe this is a minor point for some) The gym is kept clean. Some gyms aren't, this one is. 2) It's a great deal. I've been to gyms that are quite a bit more expensive that offer less classes. 3) The instructor (Gene Folgo) is good. He's knowledgeable about trends in Jiu-Jitsu (both modern and older) and has kept up to date on the evolution of the sport. He's also able to explain those trends and translate them into actual technique for both those who have experience and those who do not. All in all, this is good gym for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu; I highly recommend it.
