Professor Carlos is very welcoming to all and has created a wonderful community environment at the gym. There is also a class every Saturday dedicated to ladies only which is great for those not ready to join the mixed classes. Overall our whole family has enjoyed First BJJ and the training we receive.

I've had such a positive experience training at First BJJ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and so have my kids! The classes are well-structured, challenging, and a great way for us all to get active. For me, the 6am classes are the perfect start to my day – I leave feeling accomplished and ready to tackle anything. My kids absolutely love it, too; they're not only having fun and getting out their energy, but they're also learning valuable life skills like discipline, respect, and perseverance. The instructors create such a supportive environment, and I highly recommend First BJJ to anyone considering it for themselves or their family!

First BJJ is not only an amazing gym but a wonderful community. Carlos takes the time with the younger classes and is the perfect blend of being firm and fun where even the youngest kids fall in line and really respect him. The adult classes are amazing with respect and high intensity when you need it. I would highly reccomend first BJJ to any level whether you are a beginner or higher belt.

He teaches moves directly for students in a group setting knowing it will work for that individual student. His leadership is unparalleled. And he is one tough hombre. The other black belts here are also amazing teachers and ambassadors for the sport. First BJJ is the best and most legit Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school in Utah, Carlos Santos and Suyan Queiroz, not only were great athletes with many achievements but they make it easy to learn when they are running classes. Always helpful and encouraging, the atmosphere is great at the gym. I fully recommend anyone from beginner to advanced to go check it out.

High level, world class, instruction in a relaxed, family oriented atmosphere. My boys and myself train at the gym weekly and we love it. It's been great for my kids in between sports seasons. If you are nervous about trying it out, don't be, they are very welcoming and will train you at your pace. No ego's here. Highly recommended and a great, full body, workout!

I was just in town for the weekend visiting my son and called First BJJ Center to see if we could drop in on a class or get some mat time. (My home gym is SBG in Portland, Oregon.) I spoke to Professor Suyan Queiroz, who was welcoming and very accommodating - even loaning us a couple of gis and inviting us to the center's anniversary barbecue. Everyone was very friendly. It's also clear that they have several extremely skilled instructors here. Thanks for including us. If you are ever in Portland, Oregon, I'd love to return the favor.

I went in for a free trial class in March and loved it. When I came back in May they remembered me and welcomed me back. These instructors are as legit as it gets. Don't take my word, research these guys. We are insanely lucky to have them here in SLC. The instructors as well as the other students are always encouraging and the environment is great. If you have any doubts just come in for a free class.

Utah is truly lucky to have both of these professors of BJJ. They are always professional and humble. I've been under Professor Carlos for 3 years now and I've been under Suyan for about 6 months and both have improved my BJJ game immensely. Being in the Air Force I have had to move around and train at other gyms but First BJJ is one of the best gyms I have ever been a part of. It is a family friendly, safe training environment where everyone is taken car of in regards to training. The gym is always kept neat and the mats are always clean. These guys are top notch instructors for all ages, experience levels. Regardless what you are interested in, be it competition, fitness, or just self defense these guys are the instructors to show you the RIGHT way. Too many McDojos are out there but I can say I'm truly blessed to have these guys and the entire First BJJ community not only as team mates and professors but I consider them to be my extended family. So

Absolutely the highest level of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction in the Salt Lake valley. Excellent instruction and attitude of both professors Suyan and Carlos. For pure Brazilian Jiu Jitsu there is no other place to go, they offer both Gi and No-Gi classes.

Professor Santos is a dictionary for Jiu Jitsu. The deep knowledge he has is incredible. He is an amazing coach that has an overwhelming patience for his students. He believes in discipline, dedication, and hard work. He is a role model for me in many ways. Huge heart, and a great friend. I would take a bullet for this guy! Professor Suyan is no different. They are cut from the same cloth. Professor Suyan has more experience in one hand then most people can accrue in a lifetime. If you have a chance to learn anything from these two individuals you better pay attention as it is a "once in a life time" opportunity!

Very Military Friendly, I have been a part of the First Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu association for a few months now and Professor Carlos Santos has gone out of his way multiple times to give me guidance on many things relating to my BJJ journey. due to the military, it is hard to come to Salt Lake City, UT to attend classes but Professor Carlos continues to offer support and instructions as if i was there face to face. I highly encourage anyone reading these reviews who are not already a part of the association to drop in and see for yourself how supporting First BJJ is to it's students.

Incredible gym!!!!! The level of instruction is superb (as expected from two world champions) and I consider myself incredibly lucky to be able to roll with them every single lesson! My technique is improving so quickly and I keep surprising myself both in competition and when rolling with students from other schools. They have a really nice kids BJJ program and it's awesome to see both instructors' kids also training in the same gym! I absolutely recommend First BJJ. If you want to improve your game 10-fold, it's the place to train.
