This is an amazing business with caring coaches that make each and every child feel welcome and comfortable. Troy is such a great conversationalist and makes you feel welcome the second you walk in the door. He gently corrects when needed and shows each kid attention every class. The whole staff here is truly amazing. They have different class levels based on belt ranks, and The coaches are caring and involved. I find myself grinning and laughing the whole time watching my daughter work out for the hour she is in class because the coaches are so sweet and good with them. She looks forward to class each week. I am excited to continue seeing improvement in her behavior and her love to learn karate and martial arts. This place gets 5 stars from me for sure!

Son has been going here for 5 years since he was 7. His attitude, discipline, confidence, and respect for others has greatly improved over the years. We just went to our 3rd kickboxing tournament with a team of 15+ kids and performed very well. Not only was Coach Dorsey a world champion in 3 DIFFERENT martial arts...karate, kickboxing, AND boxing...he also has a black belt in bjj. Oh, and recently became one of only a few people in the world to earn his 10th degree. They also have other great coaches with sparring classes.

Update: We have been a TDKO family for 6yrs now. I can't put into words the impact it's had on our son. He tests for his second degree black belt this year. We have nothing but praise for the team and all the awesome people that pour into the young athletes who train there. Get there! Sign Up! Run don't walk! Mr Dorsey is a very down to earth instructor given his status in the martial arts world. His instructions and patience is top notch. He is also very attentive to the health and well being of his students. His assistant instructor, Mr Caleb, is also fantastic. I took fitness kickboxing here 10+ years ago and I loved it. It completely transformed my body and gave me confidence that I have never had. Troy was always so supportive and kind. Now that I have kids and they are old enough, I signed them up! They have been going weekly for about 3 months now and they love it. My son (10) finally feels like he is a part of something and my daughter (6) is so excited to go to every class. Caleb is incredible with the kids and gives each one personal attention. He teaches respect and discipline while the kids are engaged in class. It’s so cool how he does that! My daughter shocked all of us with her speed and strength, she is completely inspired. One of the coaches told her that he believes she will be a black belt some day and now she practices hard and set it as her goal! They teach life skills, responsibility and self control. It’s nice to have a place like this support the qualities we try to teach at home. Troy spent about 20 minutes with my son during one class and the difference was noticeable immediately. He is a great coach and teacher, but more importantly he is a KIND person that loves what he does. His love and passion for martial arts is contagious I love this place.

The training here has been phenomenal. I have been going since September 1st, and have received intense training, and even more intense support both on and off the mat. Sensei Dorsey & Sensei Ebell are both really good examples of a good martial artist and supportive teacher. I am truly blessed by God to be a part of their team. I am 56 years old, weigh 450, and am still accepted and trained just like any other student (with modifications as needed due to sciatica, arthritis and a bad right knee). They do NOT let me slack off. You couldn't pay me enough to go anywhere else.

The absolute BEST MMA gym in the DFW! The trainer is the most inspiring trainer I’ve met. His environment is clean, motivating, inspiring, and so much more. Both my brothers started playing karate at this gym with Mr. Dorsey and they have changed drastically in the greatest way possible. This place is more than just kicking and punching. It teaches how to defend your self, become the best version of your self, help others, be respectful, and like Troy Dorsey told us, “become a champ, not just for yourself, but for the people around you. Parents, teachers, friends, etc.”. Another thing that I love is, he checks grades and has a chart for things to do, accomplish, and make better choices for yourself and others of course. My siblings have made a 12 month commitment in karate and they don’t see their selves leaving even after the 12 months. Same for me, I’ve made a 12 month commitment in kickboxing and I also don’t see myself leaving. This gym and community is amazing and relieves so much stress and more. I recommend if you or your family and friends are looking for a great MMA gym. This is the place to go!!

My daughter has been attending Troy Dorsey’s class for four months now and has made a total turn around in how she speaks to people she was shy and disrespectful had no confidence in herself or anyone she knew paid no mind to responsibilities or cared to better herself since she has been attending Troy’s classes she isn’t afraid to speak with respect dose all chores the first time asked sometimes without being asked I have gained a trust and respect for my daughter that blows my mind... she is in no way perfect she is only 8 and makes mistakes but she has tried and sticking to a schedule and honestly she did not want to be in karate said she hated it but after just a short time the complaining stopped and she was happy to earn belts and see the how happy people were with her actions!! I rate this place 5stars. Parents I advise Troy has a system that really works and if you stick to it and work the program and show your children support and that you won’t give up or let them give up what they learn in class and at home changes rough behavior and puts love in their heart!!! Ty Troy you have helped my child grow into a respectable tough young lady always telling pple she knows karate!!🤣😍🥰

I've been coming here for almost two or three years now and it has been the best experience so far. I've met the kindest people and the teachings are not only about karate moves but also things that can benefit you in and outside karate. Mr. Dorsey is a wonderful role model, excellent coach, and uplifting mentor. He calls our child twice a month to check in on him, he sends cards to our boy, and is always encouraging. Our 7 year old was having a very hard time in life when he entered into the program, his attitude and behavior has changed and he started doing better in school. I took karate with Troy Dorsey 15 or so years ago. When we were ready to enroll my son in karate, we knew it needed to be done with Mr. Dorsey. He is amazing at what he does. Yes, He is passionate about Martial Arts, but his interest in each child’s success inside and outside of the studio sets him apart from the rest. Mr. Dorsey takes the time to get to know each child, their learning styles, and their needs. This was such a blessing for us. My daughter suffered from social anxiety and confidence issues before we approached Troy Dorsey about classes to boost self esteem. After his classes and interaction with her, my daughter was able to hold her head up and stand up against the bullying. Unfortunately, the bullying didn't stop, but the classes gave her tools to deal with it. I was referred to Troy Dorsey Karate by a fellow church member when I let him know that I was looking for a place to take my son. From the first time my son attended class he loved it! The staff is knowledgable, patience, and hard working with all of the students. They even have a weekley life lesson that they lead the kids in. I want to put in a plug for Troy Dorsey and his amazing team at Troy Dorsey Karate. His Wikipedia page is a little out of date--he's now a 9th degree black belt and a boxing/kickboxing legend. And he's a local. Our daughter started taking karate from Troy in October 2016. We wanted her to take karate after being diagnosed with severe ADHD. Her doctor recommended karate as a means for her to learn self-discipline and keep her confidence and self-esteem high. I can't tell you what a difference it has made. Troy's personal approach and genuine love of his students (yes, he teaches classes himself!) sets him apart from any other sensei. He knows my daughter by name and calls me periodically to find out if there's any thing else he can be doing to help her development. He has exceeded my expectations in every way. If you're considering having your child start karate, I highly recommend Troy Dorsey Karate.

Troy Dorsey is a wonderful man of God and absolutely gifted to teach. My 8 yr old daughter has been going to his school around 9-10 months, and it's the best and most helpful thing that could have happened for her and me too. She's sweet, but very, very strong willed, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but was definitely challenging at home. On the very first night after class on the ride home she apologized for her past behavior and promised to do better at home, and she has remarkably worked at it steadily without fail every since. Her confidence has soared, respect and manners are awesome, doing what she's told the first time (usually) and overall just an awesome, awesome job she's doing by adhering to his teachings. He's made such a huge difference in our live's by his consistent encouragement, and the values he teaches. I am so thankful for Mr. Dorsey and his staff! And the bonus is that she loves his class!!

I have two sons who are 6 and 9. They have been attending Troy Dorseys Karate for about a year and a half. They are currently advanced Blue Belts. The dojo has a family friendly environment and the students receive excellent instruction in martial arts and character. The teachers are knowledgeable, well trained and are great with Kids. Master Dorsey exemplifies the love of Christ through his interactions with parents, staff, students and teaching style.

My son loves taking karate at Troy Dorsey Karate. We've been taking classes ther for a little over a year and I have seen great improvement in my sons attitude, self control, attention span and active listening. He enjoys class and never complains about going. I attribute this to the confidence building atmosphere Troy builds at his school. The classes are fun and each student is taught in a way of encouragement with genuine care.

This place is awesome! Troy is a wonderful teacher and a Man Of God. The culture is diverse and the people are great! It's also a great place for children to learn, train, and receive reinforcement in core values for life. I love going to class! It's a good workout, stress reliever, and a fun relaxing environment. Troy Dorsey's Karate class is outstanding! Mr. Dorsey is truly a great leader and role model for the kids! You can see that he really cares about each student and their development. After several months, our son has showed so much more self confidence while be taught self control and self discipline, in addition to the martial arts skills. We love Troy Dorsey's Karate! Our oldest son just earned his Black Belt and is now working towards his 2nd degree Black Belt. Our youngest son is a red belt and recently committed to earning his Black Belt as well. Mr. Dorsey, Mr. Sapp, and the rest of their staff have made major contributions to their character and abilities. We will forever be grateful for what TDK and martial arts has done for our sons. We put our son in karate to help with his confidence. He had a speech impediment that made it very difficult for people to understand what he said. We could see that he was becoming aware of this and self conscious about it because he wouldn't speak in front of non-family members. He went through speech therapy which corrected his impediment but we wanted to do something more to help him gain confidence in himself so we signed him up for karate with Mr. Dorsey. He's been taking it for about a year and I have to say he has grown by leaps and bounds. Karate has given him confidence in his abilities, help to set a foundation of working hard for something, and helped him to see that he can be a leader. It's not just about karate with Mr. Dorsey and the other instructors. It's about developing virtuous character and teaching principles about right and wrong behavior. I truly see Mr. Dorsey and the other instructors as part of our village in raising our son.

My son has been taking karate with Troy Dorsey for around five years now and we would never consider going anywhere else! Troy's devotion to his students is remarkable. You can really tell that his entire heart is into not only teaching our children karate, but the respect and spirit that goes along with it. If you are looking for an instructor that teaches all aspects of martial arts and has a mutual respect for each student, Troy Dorsey is the place to be. What amazed me the most, is that with as many students that attend his school, Troy knows each student by name and control any size class no matter how big or small, with 100% cooperation from each.

My son was having issues in school with constantly getting in trouble and being disrespectful. Troy Dorsey's Karate was recommended to me and i was told it would do wonders for my son....they were right. Within a week I saw a difference. No more calls from school and a complete change in him at home as well. He is so respectful and takes in everything that is taught to him in class. Mr Dorsey asks everytime he sees my son how he is doing in school and at home and encourages him to keep up the good work. Karate with Mr Dorsey was one of the best things i could have done for my son.
