I love the way the kids are taught to respect each other as well adults! Keep up the great work Guys!!!
Professor Scott is an amazing person. Not only is he highly skilled at the trade, but he is also very consistent. His daily presence on the mats has encouraged me in many ways. Thank you very much for all you do!
A very well run dojo. Friendly professional staff who enjoy teaching. Enrolled my son there he loves the experience.
Great place for kids and adults to learn Jiu Jitsu.
Amazing environment, parents if you have kids to have alot of energy take them here.By the end of the kids class they'll be exhausted. The instructs are nice and know what their doing.Love this place.
Great place to train, the staff are very friendly and helpful and you feel right at home from the first day you start.
Professor Young is a fantastic instructor. He knows how to break each move down so you can get it no matter the age or body type. Also, it's a great environment to meet and learn from others.
my two girls absolutely love being here and it's been only 3 weeks....two words GRAPPLE THURSDAY
Professor Young and his staff are great. He builds confidence, teaches respect and above all teaches people of all ages and athletic abilities self awareness and self defense. James Conley
Very inviting environment to learn Jiu Jitsu. I tried several schools before GB Mansfield but didn't feel very welcomed. When I came into GB Mansfield I was immediately greeted and given a tour. It is obvious Professor Young and the staff take a personal interest in their students and love the art. Lots of classes to fit any schedule, competitive pricing, and clean mats. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn BJJ.
Great place. People of all sizes and ability levels with great coaching and family atmosphere
GB of Mansfield is by far the best jiu jitsu school I have been to. It is safe, structured and professional. Professor Young teaches hard concepts in a very simple manner and all of his coaches do the same. It is a great place to learn bjj weather you are a man, woman, beginner or an expert. I highly recommend this school.
Gracie barra Mansfield is a great place to train and learn the art of Jiu Jitsu. Professor Young is an amazing instructor who teaches, mentors and build your confidence every time you are in the building.
My nephews are coming up on a year having been at GB Mansfield. They weren't allowed to do a lot of wrestling at home due to the difference in maturity at their developing ages, so when they started, neither had a good idea of leverage. Also, the youngest wasn't quite ready for the "confrontation" of facing an opponent. In these few months, they both have grown, gaining confidence in their abilities and losing apprehension about physical contact. The oldest already thwarted off an altercation earlier in the year and the younger used his "break fall" technique to not hit his head on the floor when he slipped and fell back last week. It's a great controlled environment for kids to learn self-defense, especially on "match" day and the instructors are nice and exercise patience in helping the children learn. We look forward to gaining continued benefits from this training.
These guys are great with kids!! The kids program is highly recommended. My son attends almost every single class he can. He really enjoys his teachers and his class.
This gym is awesome! Walked in as a drop in for a couple days while in town, coaches were super nice and outstandingly helpful. Definitely enjoyed the couple training sessions I got in!
LOVE Gracie Barra Mansfield. I'm a super busy mom and business owner, so I love that GB Mansfield has so many different class times and days to choose from so that I can keep training. The place is always clean, the attitude charged with positivity and the instruction is superb. Even though I am a woman in my 40s, I still have a lot of fun and get a great workout. I've trained a lot of places over the years so I know what to look for in a dojo and this place definitely makes the cut. I even have my young son (Age 5) training with me. Very family-friendly.
I joined Gracie Barra Mansfield in October '14. I had no experience in martial arts prior to joining but I'm really glad I did. The training is set up for everyone to grow and succeed in the sport. The training and attention is excellent and the environment is very welcoming and encouraging. I'll admit I was a bit intimidated when I joined but that quickly went away as the students are extremely encouraging and helpful. I'm 34 and am a lifelong athlete. I have a strong competitive side and like to be challenged. GB Mansfield satisfies all of that. I get a great workout every class and I improve every day. Everything about GB Mansfield is set up for you to improve your game. If you've been thinking about jumping into jiu-jitsu, I'd look no further than here. You won't regret it.
This is a great place. Professor Young is awesome and all of the staff does everything they can to help you with everything you need. the way they train brings out the most in my child and keeps him very engaged. My son is shy and within minutes they had him speaking up and having a blast. I have now joined with my son and we are taking this journey together. I highly recommend checking out Gracie Barra in Mansfield.
I've studied Karate, wrestling, and Tae Kwan Do, and, now Jiu Jitsu, and in my experience, Jiu Jitsu is the premier martial art. And when the Gracie family, who invented Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, were looking for someone to represent them in South Arlington, they chose Mr. Young. I've been a student of his for two years, and it has been one of the best investments I've ever made. It is a fun way to keep fit and a constant challenge to keep improving. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the other students have become great friends. Mr Young's background as a police officer offers great incite as to how to use the Jiu Jitsu skills in real life situations. One of the advantages of Gracie Barra is that they have schools nationwide, so since I travel a lot, I'm able to join in with other schools while on the road.
It took me a long time to decide which martial art I wanted my daughter to learn and which school she would attend. We chose Jiujitsu because I wanted her to be able to protect herself in a “real world” situation. We started under Champion Jiujitsu and it has only gotten better with their new partnership with Gracie Barra. The classes are both challenging and fun for the kids. I am proud that my daughter is able to manage her own and even hold down boys who are taking Tae-kwan-do or Karate. I can see the confidence that it gives her. I especially like how every family participating, is so encouraging and supportive of each other’s kids. Professor Young and his team are truly exceptional in working with you and your kids. It is evident in their growth and commitment in developing your child and pushing them to be better. I would recommend Garcie Barra to anyone who wants to learn self-defense in a challenging, yet supportive environment.
I joined GB about 2 weeks ago. I enjoy the training and discipline I have learned so far. my son is also a student at GB, and it gives us our father and son time together. I see a lot of dad's training with their sons. All the instructors are helpful and the owner himself Mr. Young is very helpful and encouraging. The facilities are very clean and I enjoy GB very much.
I'm glad i decide to put my daughter in jiu jitsu, because since she been in the classes, she has open up more and she shows so much potential. I am so amaze how she is determined to want to go to class and train. She never want to miss a class lol. This was the best thing i could have done for her and I'm glad I did it. All the instructors are extremely nice they make you feel like they been knowing you all there lives. And how all the kids act towards each other is super amazing I love it.
I am 34 years old and woke up a few weeks ago thought, 'I would like to learn martial arts'. I had driven by Professor Young's for some time and had heard good things about the school. So, I just pulled in one day, spoke to Young and his wife. They gave me the low down, I signed up and started attending classes. I still know absolutely nothing, but everyone there is very accommodating to my lack of knowledge. Every class I leave with a bit more understanding. There is wide selection of classes, so there is limited excuse for non-attendance. My two daughters wanted to attend, so we signed them up as well. Their children classes are great, it is a great place for kids. It is a great environment and Prof. Young has surrounded himself with good people. Everyone seems to be on the same page about making a positive school and an even better product (that being your knowledge of JJ). At the end of the day, this is a top notch school. They might need to start looking for a bigger building.
I went to Gracie Barra Mansfield to "check it out". I was very impressed with the school. I enjoyed the curriculum, and the students were great. No "meat heads". Professor Young made me feel as if I were a member of the family, gave me a full tour and explained some of the history of GB to me. He was very passionate in the way he spoke. I was so impressed by the school; I became an official member that afternoon!
I enrolled my 5 year old son a year ago in order to give him a life skill and additional discipline to achieve goals. He has really enjoyed the classes and has also participated in a tournament. Professor Young and staff really take the time to encourage children's classes and develop confidence within a learning environment. I can see a huge difference in my son with the principles they teach along with actual hand to hand drills with his peers. I strongly encourage parents with children to look into Gracie Barra Mansfield, you wont be disappointed. Great job guys ! Sean Smith
My son is 11 years old and just started GB, he really enjoys it and we already see a boost in his self confidence. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The facility is very clean and smells great! the curriculum strategy they use, is very easy for all levels and parents have opportunities to get involved with their child. GB is not just a local jujitsu center but they have a covering and a good history, that made us much more confident in placing our son there. I would recommended GB.
Great bunch of men and women here! Very family oriented. Everyone here helps each other out....no egos at all. Professor Young is always here and hands-on.
Great place to train! You learn a lot and you also get the chance to grapple a lot from white belt, all the way to black belt. You will learn and you will advance and you will succeed. This school is tailored for either a family environment or for yourself. I'm an extremely satisfied with this school and would not train any where else.
Since I have started Jiu Jitsu lessons, I have been threatened with harm on three occasions. Each occasion the incident went to the ground, and I was able to gain a position of advantage and subdue my adversary. The fight was over fast with no injury to me or the other person. When I was younger, I did pride myself on being able to defend myself. I was not a bully, but I did not back down from a fight either. The fights were not boxing matches, with one punch, and it’s over. The fights may start standing, but every fight I was in, involved both of us on the ground. The fight did not last long, somebody always showed up to stop it. If you were on top, you did all the punching. Consequently, if you were on the bottom, you were receiving all the punches, and waiting (praying) for somebody to stop it. Since I have been taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Champion I have learned to address positions from top and bottom, as well as some others. The techniques taught; minimizes my injuries. You do not have to be stronger or bigger than your opponent or adversary. The techniques work if you are male or female, small or big. The classes at Champion offer a controlled environment, with many instructors, and people willing to assist you. You will have multiple repetitions; to put you uncomfortable positions, to teach you how to react, so you will know what to do, to protect yourself, when you are on the ground and somebody is on top, behind or to your side. You will also learn how to move from those positions to a dominate position, were you can hold your position until help arrives, or continue to fight at your terms.
Very positive environment for my son and I to work together. We were able to work on the things we learned together and the staff is very friendly. I recommend Champion Jiu-Jitsu for anyone wanting to learn a very real martial arts discipline. Mr Young is a great teacher and motivator!
Instructor and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend Champion Jiu-Jitsu to anyone who is interested.
Our company took a self-defense class here and it was excellent. We were given a wealth of information that we can take with us on our real estate jobs. They were very informative and hands-on. They put us in real life possible situations, rather than just telling you about it. I can't say enough great things about them. But, most importantly I can say, I learned A LOT!! THANK YOU!!
Thank you Professor Young from Champion Jiu Jitsu Academy! Our Self-Defense class was very informative. I really enjoyed your teachings and look forward to future classes!
My son attends Champion Jiu Jitsu and absolutely loves it! The environment, enthusiasm and staff are tremendous, and they make the whole experience fun and beneficial. I highly recommend Champion Jiu Jitsu for anyone wanting to explore and/or advance in Jiu Jitsu!
What a great place to introduce your child to martial arts! Professor Young and Mr. Young are awesome (and patient!). I honestly don't know where they get the energy to keep these kiddos engaged. My oldest son has learned so much, I can't wait for the younger one to get started in a few years.
Both of my children and my husband have been attending classes at Champions. They all love going to classes as much as possible. The staff are excellent, facilities are clean and the people are wonderful. There is definitely a family atmosphere which we love. We would absolutely recommend Champions to people of all ages. Mr. Young not only comes from a famous pedigree within BJJ circles but also is an excellent instructor. He is also an extremely pleasant person and is wonderful with both adults and children.
I recently began classes at Champion Academy, and the school and the staff have exceeded all expectations. The manner of teaching is adaptable to all ages and virtually all physical limitations, and I have found that I feel physically better after every workout. Everyone is respectful and polite (including the other students) and the level of learning is outstanding. I completely recommend Champion Academy for anyone who would like to learn self defense, self discipline, or self control, or for anyone who merely wants to keep in shape in a fun, safe way.
this is a helpful place to learn self discipline and self defense it is very helpful if you are in a bulling situation and dont know what to do the classes are taught by mr.r young i love it here
Careful. Went there years ago. And shortly before i left the state i said i could not go there anymore to Mr. Young. Who said he would take care of it. So i left the state for 3 years i came back and discoverd he charged me over $4,000 and but it on my credit for over $6,000. Just saying be very careful. There are better schools cllse by. Like Busho Kai has a great instructor and theyre up front and helpful. Alvarez is also close by and a highly rated school. I wouldnt recommend the place at all. Avoid if you can.
