My son has gone there for a while and really likes it. Master Al is a pretty stand up guy and I would recommend.
Al Verduzco is one of the best instructors I ever had the pleasure to train with. Al is greatly accomplished as a full contact fighter and one of the very few that has "real" fight experience coming out of NWI. Al has competed at the highest level and I recommend anyone looking to take their game to a new level.....seek out Extreme Martial Arts!
I've been training here for a year now and I can say that I have come a long way in both skill and discipline. We train hard and grow in both body and mind. The coaches are friendly, knowledgeable and are always willing to help. We have a good group of students as well. I would reccomend this dojo to anybody who is interested in martial arts. Consistency is key here. You get what you put into it. if you come as much as you can and put in the work both at class and at home, you will become a better martial artist and person while making some friends along the way.
Hardworking and strong atmosphere. You will gain more strength with every class you attend!
Started going here once the whole covid lockdown/quarantine period ended. As anyone with a military background you want to make sure you’re not going to waste your time. You will definitely enjoy it here. The workouts are great, the lessons are even better, I’d for sure say I’ve learned a lot since coming here. Would definitely recommend.
I have been so pleased with the progress my son has made. Thanks to the coaches who have pushed him to excel
Love this place!! Highly recommend!!
I took a women's self defense class here and it was an overall enjoyable experience! I felt more prepared to defend myself after the class than before. Al was very easy to follow and Tammy was very good at assisting everyone with moves they struggled with through the class. I think it's important that us women know how to protect ourselves and loved ones, so this class is perfect. Would take another class in the future. Thank you guys!!
awesome place to train, went there myself, my grandson trains there now and he gets the same treatment as everyone else, everyone is treated fairly, this may not be for everyone, you have to want it. it takes time to learn and process these skills and the teachers at Extreme Martial Arts do a great job of developing these skills to ALL of their students, kids and adults, i know the teachers there want nothing more then for every student to grow with every class. keep up the good work, thank you
We enrolled our 5 year old son here and it has been an awesome experience so far. He really loves coming here and he's learned so much in a short period of time. The instructors are great with the kids even though kids this age seem to be a challenge to teach. Twice a week he gets a great workout, some extra discipline and the social benefits of interacting with kids outside of the normal school setting. The whole experience has been very rewarding and we are very happy to be part of the EMA family.
My babies have been going now for about 3 weeks, ages 13-7 years.... They LOVE it! Initially I just came to check out the 30 days free. Then the kids ended up LOVING it. They look forward to it and Master Al and all of the staff are soooooooooooo good with the kids. They are very patient. Try it. You will love it!
After five months of watching my nephew during his classes, I am thrilled to report his growth with strength, listening, patience, stamina, and work ethic. This EMA program is teaching not only the basics of the martials arts, but also much more. The lessons on understanding directions, drive and determination, vigilance, grit, confidence, and physical well being are so intricately woven that it is phenomenal to witness these little boys and girls be turned into little men and women. The Master and his coaches are patient yet firm with the children and maintain discipline while making sure technique is being learned.
My son has never looked forward to something so much as he does going to class. I am beyond grateful for the staff and Al for instilling discipline, respect, self defense and a love for a sport in my son.
I’ve been training martial arts since I was a kid, I’ve trained at a variety of different academy’s. Extreme Martial Arts has such a great focus on actual street self defense. And how to protect yourself in a real life situation. The other academy’s I went to were awesome but I never really learned that information. I’m so glad I have found a place to further advance my martial art training!
I started going to EMA a while back in high school and not only did it get me in shape. It also build my confidence, helped me work with others and gave me the ability to defend my self adequately. The teachers there are amazing and knowledgeable and i myself am trainging to be a coach at the moment. I wouldnt want to train and learn anywhere eles.
I have been going to Extreme Martial Arts for over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Master Al teaches amazing warmup/workouts for the body that challenge you, technique and form(Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jui Jitsu, Boxing), and discipline. This place is a confidence builder as you grow and learn new body workouts and EMA techniques. There is a GYM next door to our facility where you can do the standard stuff- run on treadmills, lift weights, or elliptical, but after doing EMA for a year I think that stuff is a waste of time. With Master Al you can get a chiseled body, actually learn something, and gain better discipline all the while having some fun!
I’ve been at the EMA almost 3 years, and I absolutely love it ! I have learned an exceptional amount in both the Brazilian jiu jitsu and the Muay Thai kickboxing classes. There is a very good attention to detail and technique in the classes, and at the same time you get an insanely good workout, with a group of super cool people! Would definitely recommend :)
I have been wanting to start kickboxing for years... what I have learned here in just a few short months has pushed me to discover how much I am really capable of! The strength and confidence I have gained has helped me in every aspect of my life; from not overreacting to small things to feeling more aware of the self defense needed in these crazy days! My young daughter is also in class, and finding more confidence in dealing with the “catty” girls at school, as well as learning how discipline and hard work can pay off!!! So excited to move forward with my new journey with the amazing family you gain to help you improve in so many ways!!!
I have learned a lot and I think they have very good instructors. The classes have taught me to protect myself.
This place has it all! They have this trail 3 classes for $20 and i couldn't pass up the deal. It was a very constructive. It helped me build my core which benefits me in my line of work. I would recommend it!
The Muay Thai kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes have been awesome. If you want to go somewhere that is more engaging (mentally and physically) than a regular gym, you should really check them out. I've tried gyms before, but I am really getting a lot more out of this. Personally I am a beginner, and I have been having a lot of fun learning both styles. I've only been taking classes for a little while, but I am seeing a difference already. Since I have been training here, I really feel amped up and way more committed towards exercising and eating right- this is really helping me get closer to my weight loss/fitness goals. Plus, the instructors are awesome, and the other students are really cool people that I am really glad I've met. It feels like a family atmosphere, and everyone is there for each other.
I've been attending EMA for 2 months now and I haven't felt this great in a while. I started this class to get in shape for my wedding but I will definitely be stay afterwards. Everyone there is nice and easy to talk to.
I have been going to EMA for 2 months now and I haven't felt this good in a long time. I love that I am getting back in shape. I have already had people come up to me saying that I'm looking so much healthier. I'm gaining muscle and losing fat. It is so hard to get me to go to a gym because I get board doing the same thing over and over again. Here I am always learning something new. I don't want to miss a single practice because I don't want to find out that I could have learned a move that could help me in the ring. I can't wait to see what I can do in the future. This is something that I have wanted to do since I was a kid and now I finally have the opportunity to do it and I couldn't have made a better decision. I know that if something was to happen I would be able to defend myself. Last thing I would like to say is that the people here make you feel like family. We all push each other. We don't want to see someone struggle so we help to lift them up. Having that extra driver allows you to go so much farther in your training.
I absolutely love my Muay Thai class! It's a key part of what is literally changing my life. I highly recommend taking up Martial Arts! If you feel like you are stuck, it will pull you right out. If you lack confidence you will gain some almost right away. I had to make a permanent lifestyle change or my health would have went from bad to worse. I want to be strong, happy and healthy! Learning Muay Thai has always been something I wanted to do very badly, but I thought I couldn't do it because of how overweight I am, I was totally wrong. I decided to take the word can't out of my vocabulary and I starting using the words try hard and DO. I love my school, everyone there is great! The Coaches are Awesome! I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted to learn. I would recommend this over any regular Gym, you get so much more from the people here than going to a gym by yourself where it is easy to lose motivation. Within a month I lost 10 pounds, I feel great and I am getting stronger!
We have a 6 yr old son that started training at Extreme Martial Arts about a year ago. First of all the instruction has been great. At his first competitive meet, he was light years ahead of the other kids at his age and experience level. We were happy with the coaching anyway, but then when we saw how far advanced our son was in comparison to kids on other teams, we were, and continue to be about as impressed as we can be. The owners, Al and Michele Verduzco have given our boy great instruction and have also basically treated him like a member of their own family. Their other coach, Jason Green has done a great job as well. The thing that is important to realize is that the training that the kids receive is not just physical, but mental. The discipline that our son has learned here has manifested itself in every other thing that he does. It's had a VERY positive impact on his studies, his performance in other sports, and also given him tremendous confidence in all of his endeavors. My wife and I give E.M.A. the highest possible recommendation.
Pretty good so far
Absolute worst classroom I have ever seen in my life. Watch for the free trial period scam also. My kid spent more time watching the “instructor” try to control other students just in sitting down than he did in learning anything. When I went to leave the owner continued to charge my bank account, even one month TWICE. He’s a hack. Stay away both you and more so YOUR KIDS. Negative stars if possible
Absolutely ridiculous place. I do not recommend being your child or yourself here. Very poorly managed. They will quickly try and get you to sign papers. Don’t believe them like I did. My child spent an average of 13 minutes a class sitting or standing around doing nothing while Tammy his instructor fought with other kids trying to get them to pay attention, not to mention they don’t practice for a full hour. They start late, sometimes 15 minutes late and end early. After I texted them to tell them we would not be returning because of this they charged my bank for the next month still. Taking them up with the better business bureau and anyone else I need to.
Ridiculously priced. I stopped going a while back. I used to take several types of martial arts and the only things I learned were from coach Jason, others were not good. He's a great teacher. I think he should teach at a place that isn't a scam.
This place is waste of money that didn't teach my kid any moves they teach kids how have to play shark in the water game that will make you to Buy all stuff you're kid never going to use in their class, there just won't money that's all i'm glad that I found another place for my kids
This place was a waste of money n very unorganized. I felt like they just wanted my money instead of teaching my son. They mix the belts together, they do not separate them in groups. We moved to nwimaa, so much better
First off the price is ridiculously high second I felt that I was paying them to teach my kid how to play games! I could of done that for free at home.
(This review is for the muay Thai program) I'll start off by saying that I previously trained at a gym where the head Thai coach was an old Olympic boxing coach that made the transition to kickboxing. It may have spoiled me, but I have seen how a serious gym should be run. This isn't it if you're serious about competition. This place is good for those that are just beginning their fitness endeavor. They play a lot of little "games" that are fun, but is not teaching you how to fight. They will tell you that it "prepares your body" for the training, but the focus seems to be on that instead of actually teaching. Its geared towards those that haven't really trained the technique before. And don't even get me started on the pricing plan... And a personal gripe. I STILL get automated emails from them and I haven't been I'm three months. Talk about annoying.
The instruction is OK for a beginner level school. Coach Jason is a great teacher and I would gladly learn from him if he were to train at a different facility. After you hit a certain level you are expected to teach the new students more so than actually learn yourself, which is not what I signed up for. The education then plateaus and becomes stagnant. I wish that were the only issue. I was involved in a vehicle accident when my ambulance was struck by a truck which resulted in a torn rotator cuff for me. Physically unable to attend class and facing a large amount of medical bills, Michelle refused to suspend my contract or consent to end it early regardless of the fact I was disabled. Now, my contract ended at the end of December and I am no longer a student. They are still withdrawing money from my account after my contract ended. I have been trying to contact Michelle for a month and she refuses to return my phone calls. I did receive on message from a staff member yesterday, after calling for a month, stating that they will continue to charge my account until I submit a "letter of cancellation" but provided no information on what that is or where to send it. Absolutely pathetic, there are far better MMA schools in the area that are far less likely to steal from you.
it all went downhill
