Absolutely love this place! The way Jake is able to simplify concepts and systems is crazy. Appreciate his level of understanding patterns in the sport and identifying what works at the highest level. Then showing the team how to apply it in real time is unreal. Great people, culture and gym. Highly recommend you come check it out

I’ve trained in many countries, but the level of Jiu Jitsu here is truly incredible. I spent a month training at this gym, and I’m leaving with a heavy heart because there’s so much to learn here. The coaching, training environment, and people are amazing. I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend this place to anyone, begginers and highl level athletes!

I’ve trained at a few places over the years and Essence stands out for both the quality of instruction and the atmosphere on the mats. Jake and the other coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping everyone improve. The coaching is world class, and there’s a great culture, excellent training partners, and a strong focus on learning and development.

Not one of the best, but absolutely the best jiu jitsu coaches in Cam and Daryl. If you’ve considered Jiu jitsu previously but not had a good experience, this is the place to build your game and have fun at the same time.

Trained here for a few months and have to say it’s one of the most welcoming environments I have experienced whilst training BJJ, The coaches are all super knowledgeable and everyone who trains there was super friendly. If I still lived in Perth this would be my home gym 100%

Came across this BJJ gym coming from Canada and have really enjoyed my time here. The instructors are very knowledgeable and keep up to date on modern BJJ, and they go out of the way to help the class due to the manageable class sizes. The community is very friendly and welcoming to all skill levels from beginners to pro sessions. Highly recommended to drop by and check it out.

Have been training here for the last year. The training is awesome. Jake has helped me a lot for competition. The team is great and was very welcoming when I was new. Lots of other women to train with and the guys all know how to train with females so that everyone gets something out of the roll.

I have been training at Essence for years now and could not recommend a better gym for learning and improving in the art of Jiu Jitsu. It has always been a welcoming environment from day dot. Jake’s knowledge on Jiu Jitsu is world class and there are classes to suit all levels.
