I've been out of action for nearly 9 months but it's like I never left, the crew checked in on me while I was recovering and offered advise on how to return. Everyone is friendly and welcoming to all from experienced to new starters.
The level of coaching is exceptional and the club is run with a very family / community style approach. Everyone is very welcoming and I’d say this has been one of the best sports/clubs my children have been involved in. They absolutely love it and have gained so much from it
Very well ran and professional gym, I train here while working down south and the team and staff are very welcoming! Probably the cleanest martial arts gym I’ve ever been to! Highly recommended to beginners & experienced grapplers.
Really enjoyed training here while visiting Cambridge! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and the space is beautiful.
Did speak with Kris to allow my son to try it and he just loved. Since then he did learn self control, how to avoid physical confrontation, did increase his confidence. Been very good to him. All the teachers that he did have so far been amazing. Cary on the amazing teaching.
I visited Escapology after being recommended as the best place to train in the Cambridge area by my coach. First impressions are that it has the best facilities I've seen when visiting gyms, I've probably visited upwards of 15 or more over the years I have been training. There are separate changing rooms with showers and they will provide gi or spats if needed. There was excellent customer service from Kris from the off who made me feel welcome and the vibe generally is friendly with curiosity to learn. Had a great class from Sam learning mount escapes which mixed in some ecological style games and a bit of technique drilling followed by open round sparring. Would return in a heartbeat next time in back in the area - Thank you for having me.
The best bjj gym i have ever attended, the whole ethos and values of Escapology are amazing, Tom and Chelsea are fantastic and they share their knowledge without judgement! Equally all the coaches are 100% amazing! Big shout out to Adam and Eric :)
Beautiful gym! Lovely welcome from Tom and Chelsea. Ladies changing room was beautiful! Seminar was insane, loved every minute. Looking forward to the next one.
Posted 1 year agoAmazing academy, facilities are among the best I've seen and Tom was very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back for a seminar/open mat soon!
Posted 1 year agoI choose a 40 min- 1 hour drive to train here when I could go to other closer academies (the closest is a 10 minute walk). All of the coaches and staff amazing and help to push you whilst keeping a healthy and friendly environment. The new space especially takes the idea of uk bjj gyms to a new level.
Posted 1 year agoHad the privilege of training here for a couple of years and don't have a bad word to say about it. Started training in 2012 so have seen lots of gyms and this has to be the best I've trained at. Caters to day 1 white belts, established practitioners and seasoned competitors. Lots of gi and no-gi classes throughout the week. They also have a great women's presence on the mats. Tom and Chelsea are amazing coaches, and promote a healthy and welcoming culture. Pack a white gi and get down, you won't regret it.
Posted 2 years agoGreat club. They have a fantastic range of coaches and classes. It's always clean, and you always feel welcome. I came from another club after having a few years off and soon fell back in love with the sport. I was struggling to train at my old club due to my busy life, but at Escapology they have classes every day of the week, and every evening midweek so I've been able to get back to it. Really haven't got a bad word to say, just need to get my kids on the mats now! Oss!
Posted 2 years agoClean but... Some people at the gym have unstable egos and go like 85% power on me on my first session. I respond with like 20-30% power and then then pop my arm at the elbow giving me 0.1 seconds to tap. I'm like bruh and then they act like it's normal to go nearly full power and snap peoples arms with no tapping time. Was meant to be a bday present coming to escapeology but my first session I get my arm popped and the rest of the month is not recovery instead of learning. Not saying everyone there is like this but I rolled with like 5 people with very unstable egos. There should be etiquette but there is little to none.
