Phenomenal staff and community. One of the best BJJ academies in the PNW.
Posted 9 months agoMy son has been part of the training at Electric North for only three-ish months but has enjoyed every minute of it. From Coach to student everyone has been welcoming and challenging, which is a great fusion. Greg has been great at setting expectations, discipline and education. Jake has a humble but confident style that also works well with the students. It is a fantastic combo. It is good to see men being men without apology. The culture is robust. Outside the door I hear dads giving advice to their kids (from sharpening a stick to resolving hurt feelings) that builds up the character a young child needs. I have a strong community outside of ENJJ but it is a solid parallel structure which I'm glad to have my son become a part of.
Posted 1 year agoI travel every once in a while for work, so when I do I always try to find a spot to get some good training in. I try to find the same training I get back home in Mt Vernon, Illinois. Good instructional and lots of live rounds. This place didn’t disappoint at all. Great group of guys and girls, top notch wrestling, great jiu jitsu and tough atmosphere. If you’re in the area and looking for a good session this is your place. I’ll be visiting again next time I’m in Washington. Thanks for letting me drop in.
I was only here for a few months before moving, but it was absolutely transformational!! This was one of the few things I actually miss now that I've moved out of state. Instruction is top-notch. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help you learn. Greg also sells some of the best merch in the game, so don't miss out on that either!!
My son has been going there for about 3 years now and I couldn't be happier! They are the kind of people I want my son to be surrounded by. It's an amazing culture, and everyone there are great people. I recommend Electric North to anyone looking into Jiu Jitsu.
Greg is the reason I started training jiu jitsu. Him and his team are super inspiring and very welcoming. I was able to drop in and train while visiting my mom in Washington. Being a visitor from Hawaii, I felt completely at home. The guys were friendly (not too friendly, they still train like savages 🤣) they were gracious to me being a white belt and not knowing the techniques they were doing. That being said they did a great job teaching and explaining to me how to do the moves correctly. Thanks gang. I will always train here when I visit Washington. Solid crew. Solid gym.
Professor Greg Anderson is an inspiration both on and off the map. His views on fitness, preparation, and jiu jitsu have inspired me to make myself a better person. Because life truly is, an endless endeavor.
I'm a regular listener to the Endless Endeavor podcast. I have been listening to Professor Greg Anderson for years now, and although we have never met in person, we have talked online, and he is a solid dude. I want to visit this gym but live in Southern California (not a short drive). Many people have given their testimony as to what type of gym it is and the great culture they have created. Greg is a salt of the earth, man. He has integrity, courage, and is a straight shooter . I've listened to him for hundreds [196 episodes] of hours, and you should, too. You will get a sense of who he is and what he's about. Five stars to this gym and Greg. Crazy Karen's should go kick rocks. 🤙OSS
My home away from home academy. Always looking forward to my next visit. I’d move to Washington state just to train here and be a part of an amazing team.
I pay for all five members of our family to go here, id pay at least that just for what I'm getting with my 10 year old that has cerebral palsy, he is treated no different and is now pushing himself harder everyday, he competes in a month.Greg has personally sat down outside of class time and worked with him and made him feel that he can do anything and that nothing is holding him back, the fire inside this kid is raging forever grateful! P.s. I'm no longer drinking myself to death anymore thanks to the team at enjj, I'm a work in progress to say the least lol but these people rally around you and Lift you up on their shoulders even when your brain cells might be strangers.
I have been a part of this academy a relatively short time. However in that time I have witnessed nothing but love, genuine caring and a willingness to show someone what they need to do to improve their lives. I came into this "gym" obese, I was judged all of ZERO times for it. No one looked at me sideways, no one made any negative comments, there was not one person who I thought OMG I really do not want to run into them tonight in class. I have watched other adult classes and childrens classes many times. I have to say from the top down, everyone in a position of authority here knows EXACTLY what they are doing. My only regret is that I do not have my children 100% of the time, at 8 and 6 years old currently. I want them to start on the journey I am on and not become unfit and unhealthy later in their lives as I currently find myself. I have nothing but the highest respect for all of the staff and other students at this academy. I secretly do not want it to get any bigger and lose the intimacy it currently has, but I LOVE seeing new faces every night i attend.
In 2022 I attended the Guns and Gi’s 2.0 camp held at Electric North Jujitsu. Not only did I get some very tough rolls in, I was able to meet some new friends. Got beat up driving 25-hours straight to arrive a few days early as I wanted to train with the normal students before G&G. Greg, Jen and the kids were all great to me and others. It was a trip I think about often, I can’t wait to go back.
I saw your response to that unruly lady, well done Sir, I’ve never trained with you guys but you seem like my type of people!
I can't recommend this jiu-jitsu school enough! The training environment is top-notch, with a perfect balance of discipline and camaraderie. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, you'll find classes tailored to your skill level, helping you grow and improve with every session. The techniques taught are practical, effective, and delivered with clear instruction, making it easy to grasp even for newcomers. Additionally, the emphasis on respect and sportsmanship creates a positive atmosphere that fosters personal growth both on and off the mats. If you're looking for a place to learn jiu-jitsu, build confidence, and become part of an amazing community, this is the place to be! OSS!
You're awesome. Thank you for doing and saying what so many don't. God bless you and your gym, sir. If we come to Washington State, we will visit your gym just to meet you and shake your hand. 👍
I came to train while visiting Washington and was greeted with open arms. Got amazing rolls with Greg and an all of his members. Made me feel like a member of the team.
Five Stars for the reply to Sarah. I would take my kids here to train if I would live anywhere near. There is still hope for the humanity. Respect 🤙
ENJJ is an amazing place for kids and adults alike. The instructors are firm but kind, and teach empowered strength, resilience, and skills that will last them a lifetime. I’m happy to have a place for my kids that pushes them to always be better instead of coddling them.
Solid bjj gym with great instructors!
I've been a member of this gym for 4 years. I'm beyond grateful for all of the staff and what they do for their members. All the team members are just as amazing. Keep doing great work. This gym has transformed my life for the better, and I will forever be thankful
Pillars in the martial arts community. Strong a compassionate leadership for all students.
I saw that amazing way the coach handled the Karen mom in legendary come back on the BJJ everything page. Im not really from this gym but here to give a 5 star. Kudos from another gym keep training hard
Haven't trained here, but based on his response to Sarah this sounds like a top notch place to have your kids Train brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! This coach not only cares about the technical development of his students but also their health!
Amazing training facility, the owner is a fantastic guy and anyone in the area who isn’t training here is missing out big time.
I visited the academy from out of town a few months back and immediately was welcomed by students and had a very FUN and positive experience, I was only there for 90 minutes but was made to feel at home as if I was a full time member. I would highly recommended this academy!
Some may say Disneyland is the happiest place on earth. I'd argue that its Electric North Jiujitsu. ENJJ is phenomenal beyond words. From exceptional facilities to top notch instructors to clear and innovative curriculum, this place has something for everyone, not to mention classes for all ages and skill levels. The team dynamic and culture is exceptional. A tribe of true athletes who deeply care for one another and prioritize encouraging everyone to be the best version of themselves. From the time that people enter the gym, there's warm welcomes and savage training. The facility is phenomenal. Cleanliness is clearly a priority at ENJJ and it shows from the mat rooms (yes there are 2!) to the recovery lounge complete with sauna, cold plunge, and many other functional fitness tools and healing modalities. ENJJ has positively impacted the lives of countless team members, myself included. To say that the facility and the team is nothing short of magical is an understatement. Come train!
Contrary to a certain negative review, Electric North is a warm, welcoming gym. I started a month ago and was so nervous when I got there. Upon arrival, there were 2 wonderful and kind women waiting for me (they knew I was coming and were prepared to meet me). They helped me with my Gi and with getting accustomed to the culture and etiquette of the gym. I was the only female in the beginners’ class and all the other students were supportive and kind. Greg creates an atmosphere of people, all ages and backgrounds, that supports good vibes.
Been training here for the past 1.5 years has been a blast, and I look foward to the years to come. All coaches and Prof. Greg demand nothing short of excellence, or at least the desire to achieve it. Every individual who has been training here for an extended period of time has earned their place among the crew. And if you want to earn your spot too, come and earn it. The only discrimination that happens on these grounds is to the weak willed and weak minded. If you lack standards for yourself, or the lack the want to hone your athletic prowess, or don't want to build your mental toughness, then stay home, stay weak. See yall at 1800.
This is an awesome place to train and better yourself. The jiu jitsu here is top notch and comes from a very impressive and skilled lineage. Everybody here is very welcoming and humble while also not being afraid to push you past what you might have thought were your limits. If you’re looking to train with kind savages, strengthen your body and your mind and become a part of a solid network of guys and gals, I absolutely recommend trying out Electric North. You won’t be disappointed, unless you’re a Karen like the woman who posted the negative review recently.
I was there when Sarah made her shameful departure, and her review is full of half truths. After kids class she stormed onto the mats, grabbed the owner/ professor by the arm, and berated him for not playing a game at the end of practice. The owner, Greg, told her to get off his property and not return. This was a GREAT example for all the kids of how to stand up to bullying. This woman clearly thought she was going to dictate to a business owner how to run his business on his property, and instead left with her tail between her legs. She now has to explain to her kids they’re not able to go back to practice, and while she’ll lie about the reasons, her kids saw what happened and know the real reason. This is an outstanding place for adults and kids alike to gain physical and mental confidence in themselves, and enable them to stand up for themselves.
Ive been going to this gym for almost 6 years now and I love the gym and its environment. All the coaches and people are very welcoming and encouraging yet hard workers.
My 3 kids have been a part of this gym for over 5 years and the transformation and confidence has been palpable. Despite what some recent reviews claim, the fact of the matter is the owner of this gym is dedicated to empowering our kids and challenging them mentally AND physically. The mindset that kids “can’t handle” tough feedback and tough physical exertion robs them of that empowerment. Anyone who claims he’s “hostile” toward kids is inaccurate; I’ve been in/around this gym for a long time and have seen hundreds of hours of jiu jitsu and KNOW the culture here is conducive to growth and confidence in both kids and adults.
Best place to train the state of Washington . If you don’t train here, you are wrong and a nogo at this station. Amazing group, atmosphere and gym culture. Professor Greg has an amazing skill of instruction and band of killers on the mat. Will recommend everyday of the week
I have gone to a few open mats. Great ambient. Gym is well vetilated, clean and in great (fairly new) condition. The owner, Greg, is quite a nice guy and a beast when rolling. He definitely knows his stuff. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to train.
Dropped in and was given a warm welcome. They just installed new mats and it’s now, one of the biggest mat spaces in the area. Stellar people, excellent jiu jitsu, and solid community.
Where boys become confident, able- Men and girls become strong, determined and fearless Women. Where Men and Women find their tribe. ✌🏻💛
Very awesome school here to go to. I trained at another school and would stop in to train here whenever I could. Every time I came for class, I would always be welcomed by the other students and instructors. The culture here is the best I've seen. Everybody gets to know each other whether you are brand new or experienced. Great instructors. Greg and Daniel are very personable people who love Jiu-Jitsu. Alot of people stay after class to hang out and talk. There isn't very much mat space so it can get crowded. Overall, great place to be. I would highly recommend if you're just starting Jiu-Jitsu or just want to continue training.
Greg is awesome and super humble. Respect for every student and safety are the two top priorities. From first-time students to black belt seasoned professionals, everyone was welcomed with open arms, grace and class. Like one other reviewer said, Greg gives each student personal attention and direction throughout the class. Come have a laugh, drop your favorite "Rex-kwon-do" line and get a great workout in.
Absolute blessing. They kept saying "welcome to the family". It was an amazing experience.
I am away from home visiting my family and wanted to get some training in. Greg and everybody at ENJJ was extremely welcoming. The facility has nice clean mats upstairs and an ample gym/CrossFit area downstairs. Greg's instruction was really helpful and he gave each student personal attention. If I lived down this way I would definitely be training here.
So grateful for this school! My kids have benefitted so much since we started 6 months ago. Top notch instructors, quality people and a purposeful workout. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a new skill and/or something positive for their kids. We'll be coming here for a long time!
The instructors are highly skilled, professional, caring and are a pleasure to learn from. I highly recommend this school!
Greg is a fantastic instructor and inspires you to push when you need that little extra motivation. highly recommend.
If your looking for a place to train in the Lake Stevens area their is no better place than Electric North. High level instruction, large mat space, and overall a great training atmosphere.
The instructors at this do jo are great with the kids. The owner is not and is very angry and hostile. He is filing in for one of the instructors. He made my 5 year old girl cry when he was screaming at me in front of everyone when I confronted him after class. He also threatened to throw her out when she was trying to get her shoes on as she was crying. I was asking about the dodge ball game they used to play after class with the other instructors. The owner had them lifting their heads and legs up for 2 minutes instead and I mentioned that he seemed really good at what he did but asked if he could not yell at the children like a drill sergeant and maybe be a little more positive with the kids because they actually learn better that way. Well he went ballistic when I said these things and told the gal up front to pull my kids out and then proceeded to yell at me in front on everyone. He said I pulled them out which isn’t true I said if it was going to be like that every time he teaches I might go somewhere else. It broke my baby girls heart as she really liked one of the instructors there but said she felt a darkness on the owner and is ok with going somewhere else. Just be careful if you go here that Greg’s not the one teaching your kids, he’s definitely not a positive and encouraging type of instructor. Some people want that but I think it’s important to show empathy with children. Especially as young as 4.
I will never train here.
