I ended up training here while passing through town. In my five years of training BJJ while traveling for work, it’s not so common to come across a school where the instruction is competent in smaller towns. But here, it was. Pretty tough students and good instruction. I was impressed by the positive attitudes and the light hearted but tough rounds. I was shown respect and kindness but challenged as well. The head instructor blessed me with a round and I learned a lot. There were plenty of women to roll with as well which was a plus! Thank you to this school for helping me out and I hope I’ll be passing through again soon.

I visit the New Hartford area often, and have always had an awesome experience at Dojo 1. Professor Len is a wealth of knowledge and all the members are super inviting and kind. Part of me wishes I could visit New Hartford more often just to come to this gym. If I lived in the area, this would be my gym, no question. Thank you so much Professor Len and can't wait to be back! Do yourself a favor and sign up for this gym!!

I'm a Blue Belt dropping in from Colorado and have to say this gym is excellent. Great instruction, great format in the classes and everyone was super welcoming! Will definitely be back

This place is absolutely wonderful! Len Sonia is a knowledge and talented individual who also is an excellent teacher of his art! Cannot find better in the area. Very practical and useful skill to have where you actually apply your knowledge routinely in a live practice, so you know it works. Very humbling and not for those with an ego who doesn't want to except defeat! I would recommend to everyone but you have to be tough enough to go through it. Been going to Len's for the past 5 & 1/2 years, after moving to the area, having practiced other Martail Arts elsewhere and continue to feel strongly that it was a great choice! Highly recommended for women who want to protect themselves! Hope to see more wonderful people join this awesome place. 😊
