Defcon is a welcoming, clean gym with an excellent culture, fantastic people, and high level instruction. Whether you’re a hobbyist or a competitor, experienced or inexperienced, or anywhere in between, you’ll find what you need here. Professor Art is an incredible instructor that cares about his students and is always actively engaged. His instruction is top notch and he’s great about offering individualized attention to his students whenever needed. I always leave class feeling better than when I went in. Highly recommend coming by!

We drove to bakersfield from porterville. It was worth the drive. professor Art spends 1:1 time with each student. His wife is friendly and makes you feel comfortable. The gym is very clean. My grandson had so much fun. He is about 7 months into this sport and he loves it. He talked about it the entire drive home. I definitely take my grandson more if we lived closer. Overall just an awesome experience.

I started training at Defcon in early 2022. I planned to train for 3 or 4 months and improve my fitness a bit.. It's been 14 months and I'm still driving 75 miles round trip three times a week - That's how much I love this place! Super clean facility, great training partners, solid jiu-jitsu. Getting to roll often with high level practitioners like professor Art and coach Tim will quickly elevate your game. There is a solid core of experienced regulars that are happy to help out those new to the art. Already experienced in combat sports? Trust me, there is still so much for you to learn in this room. See you soon!
