The “Father of Jiu Jitsu” is an honorable name given to Peter De Been, the original founder of Jiu Jitsu in Australia. When your child is taught by this master, you know your child will be on the right track for explicit growth and with the aim for high achievement. Our little boy Montetino has joined the club since February 2024 and has become a junior champion in 4 state competition, winning over 6 gold medals. Peter’s teaching approach has allowed this to happen which was beyond our belief. The other instructors Chris and Jella are very skilled with unique and distinguishable set of skills in teaching that makes the classes challenging yet enjoyable for junior children. The training environment is friendly and communal. All the kids become friends with one and other, provide support and encouragement to each other. Many friends and colleagues ask us about our boys amazing progress and we can’t stop praising and recommending this club to them all. De Been is truly the master of art and the master of Jiu Jitsu 🫶👏🏆

My daughter started JJ (8yrs) with De Been last year, with no previous experience in martial arts. She has been super happy and motivated to learn new techniques and enjoy company of other kids in practicing and learning together. Jella is also great with kids and knows well how to get their attentions and encourage their continuous learning with lots of fun. Couldn’t be happier :)

TLDR: An incredible gym for beginners and competitors alike. Just show up and they'll take care of you. I joined De Been BJJ at the tail end of Covid wanting to learn a martial art for the first time. Over the next 3 years this place became my home away from home. What an incredible community of people. The coaches and teammates here some of the most down to earth, knowledgeable and dangerous (in the nice kind of way) people I have ever met. Look no further, just show up and they'll take care of you.
