I've been doing BJJ at Core for a few months, and it's an awesome place. Great staff, and Nathan and Curt are super friendly and extremely knowledgeable coaches. Training is competitive and challenging, while maintaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. I definitely recommend Core to anyone looking to train in a supportive and high-quality environment.

I've trained at many martial arts gyms over the years and this is one of the best I've been to. I spent a few weeks there while on a trip and the team were world class and welcoming. There's a great atmosphere in the gym and I'd be a permanent member if I lived in the area. I highly recommend this gym if you're in Kentucky.

Our kiddos do bjj here. I'm so impressed with the staff as well as the other participating students. It's like a family, the kids even help my kids when they're new/ learning something new. Everyone is welcoming and helpful to the kids. They receive top notch instruction, are learning life skills, and making friends in the process. Highly recommend!
The best martial arts gym in Louisville! Has classes for all of the family, especially their BJJ program, with an incredibly well trained and professional staff. Truly a supportive and safe environment for anyone wanting to try something new and to get out of their comfort zone. For me as a beginner, this is the best place to be!!

I LOVE this gym. I started here when I was just 13 and I have gained so much confidence and knowledge in the years since. The environment is a great balance between challenging and supportive, and the Core community as a whole is incredibly special.
Great place to take your skills to the next level. The BJJ instructor (Helio Soneca) is a legend in to world of BJJ and every class I’ve taken is legit. If you are serious about training and wanting to develop skills who can actually use this is your place!

I have had the opportunity to visit and train here while TDY at Ft. Knox. I have been practicing Krav Maga for over 12 years and have experienced many different levels of teaching styles and personalities. This facility is top notch and the instructors are clearly knowledgeable about the material and can teach it in a way that will push you to you limits while focusing on proper technique- something not every school focuses on. This training facility is legit and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to begin training in Krav Maga. I cannot speak to the other programs offered but given the opportunity I wouldn't hesitate to join in those either. Thanks for letting me visit and train!
I am 40, fat and out of shape. I joined this gym because I had always wanted to learn how to box. From the very first class I could tell that this gym was the real deal and that Coach Abdul was going to push me harder than I had trained in years. When I walked into my first class, he didn't write me off as some fat old guy. He gave me the same attention that he was giving the athletes he was training for competition. That meant that he also expected me to push myself as hard as the other guys. Over the last several months I have learned more about myself and pushing my limits than I did in 10 years of military service. Coach Abdul cares for his students, but he will not accept anything less than 100% from you at each class. If you are looking for a challenge and a great environment I couldn't recommend this gym enough!

Training Jiu Jitsu with guys who are the real deal. Guys who compete and who have done so for years. My kids also train and are getting a great experience.
Been training Jiu Jitsu and Core-fit (Cross fit training) at CCS for 5 years and love it! Great atmosphere and EXCELLENT instruction. The Jiu Jitsu program is enthusiastically driven by Helio "Soneca" Moreira, a world champion and devoted instructor. The Jiu jitsu instruction is shared with Brent Weedman, an instructor with an extensive professional MMA fighting background and Soneca black belt. Soneca oversees the entire program and really hones in on detail and pin-pointing technique correctness and Brent is just as involved, often bringing a fresh perspective on proven "Soneca techniques" while chaining techniques together and focusing on drilling specific positions. Core is also a gym that promotes both tournement and combatitive style jiu jitsu. Bottom line- If you're looking to work hard, learn technical jiu jitsu, and have fun doing it, this would be the place to check out.
I love my gym so much. I've been training here since 2011 doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under 6th degree black belt and world champion Helio Soneca and Muay Thai and also BJJ under Bellator finalist Brent Weedman (who is also a BJJ black belt, Byakuren Kaikan (legit full contact) Karate and Judo Black Belt.) I've done some Boxing under Abdul Jarvis, a world champion who is local legend in Boxing circles. Rolando Haddad, the gym founder and owner, leads the Krav Maga program which is by FAR the finest in the region. The CoreFit kettlebells program under Eric Hammer is phenomenal too. When I have time, I do that too and my cardio and strength goes through the roof. I've also done some Judo under John Wortley who I believe won Silver or Gold at nationals. The facilities are huge, well equipped and well maintained. Basically Core has the most well rounded, and top notch talent in the area. I don't work for Core, or anything like that...I just have had nothing but success here. Amazingly the price is also better than most other gyms in the area. I can't recommend Core enough.
Best BJJ in the city and region. Look up Helio "Soneca" Moreira. He is the lead instructor with over 40 years of BJJ experience. He is a 6th degree black belt under Jean Jacques Machado. The classes are filled with quality people who will make you feel welcome anytime you go. This is a very good gym to go to, especially if you want to learn from a BJJ legend.
An absolutely fantastic gym experience. The best in the area whether you are interested in physical fitness, competition, or self-defense. I've been training there many years and I love my time there. Can not recommend enough.
Great set up but not friendly to newcomers, doesn’t give Im directions well , don’t think they really cared if I came back .
Do not recommend the youth boxing class for children. In our opinion, the coach is not age appropriate. There’s a way to help children become “tough” while still being a respectable role model and this class does not represent that.
coach just embarasses u if u do something wrong.
Women are ridiculed in class when trying to learn, by both instructors and students. Needless to say, I would not recommend.
