A very technical gym, all the coaches here are high level athletes whose coaching translates into real life scenarios. Be prepared to work. An excellent gym.

love it! my daughter is in tiny hero’s and she loves when she has class she ask every day! this class twice a week is perfect for her energy to be put into learning something for life, it gives her a sense of belonging somewhere when soccer is over. can’t wait to watch what can come of this

I signed my son up to the "Little Heroes" classes a few months back, and the growth has been amazing to see. Coach Rich is very patient, but direct and structured, with all his students. He does a great job with being involved with everyone during practice, praises honest effort, walks his students through each move or exercise, and sprinkles life lessons along the way. My son is very happy with his classes and the improvements he is seeing - and as a parent, I am very happy with Coach Rich's honest investment in seeing them get better and do good. I recommend this place for parents looking to involve their children in something positive, as well as any young or older adults looking to expand their current skill set or looking for some top tier self-defense training. Keep it up, Coach!

Phenomenal program in all aspects! Holds a high bar for students and require excellence at all times! The immense growth we see in our child in such a short time is nothing short of amazing. Huge testament to the time and investment from the staff. Watching our child step out of their comfort zone and excel is priceless. Their program provides so much more than just physical fitness. It educates the whole child, including promoting mental and emotional endurance and strategies. Five stars and beyond!
I’ve been to 3 jiu Jitsu gyms in my life and Close Quarters was by far the most welcoming and inclusive. Awesome coaches and great rolls every class.
I joined the women’s program at Close Quarters about a month ago. Every class has gotten me out of my comfort zone and challenges me. Angelina is an amazing coach who is patient, motivating and she knows her stuff!! I look forward to the classes every week and deciding to join was one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself.
We love CQ. My children and I are always soo excited and love being part of the CQ community. They offer a lot of programs with amazing coaches! I can't thank Professor Rich and Coach Lina enough for their unwavering dedication!

This place is the real deal. My son has developed not only a skill set in BJJ, but his confidence level is higher than I’ve ever seen it. Awesome place to have your kids learn Jiu-Jitsu and life skills. The coaches have all been good mentors to my son and challenge him to better himself. Kids program offers many days per week to help work around our schedule. Great leadership!
Can't say enough great things about CQBJJ. I've been training with Rich at various venues over the past 7 years or so and his teaching style and attention to detail serve me well. The atmosphere in our gym has long been fostered around respect and advancing on our individual journeys while simultaneously consciously improving as a team. I'm 49 and in the best shape of my life and CQBJJ has played a huge roll (intentionally misspelled) in me getting to where I am now. Come join us, it's just a lot of fun.

We have had such an amazing experience at CQ Brazilian jiu jitsu the staff has always been so nice and they keep their building very clean! All of the coaches care about your child and their success they will help them achieve their goals! At CQ we don’t feel like we’re just a customer we feel like we’re apart of a family it has become a second home! We look forward to spending our 4 days there a week and watching our son work so hard to achieve goals he set for himself it’s rewarding to get so excited when talking about how his training went that night and how he can’t wait to go back again! Came in with no experience and felt very nervous for a while, but the crew was always welcoming and inviting. Eventually started to feel comfortable and I've even lost 20 pounds in the process. Great team! Great workout!

Coach Rich does an amazing job teaching the students the particular skills they need to be successful. I love the dedication of the adults who coach the students as well. The dedication, hard work, and guidance for each student is wonderful to see. I would definitely recommend the school to anyone.
We were looking for a place to take our nine year old son so he could work on improving his confidence and physical fitness. The owner of the facility, Rich, immediately responded when we reached out about classes and he told us to bring our son for a free class to see if it was something he liked. My son attended his first class in early February 2022, and he was immediately welcomed by the other students and instructors. The students in the class have a range of skill levels and the instructors do try and pair the kids together by ability/experience. I also like that the beginning of each class is dedicated to cardio/strength training. If you are are considering signing up your child, Close Quarters Brazilian Jiu Jitsu should be your first choice.
CQ BJJ has been a great experience. I've been to three schools so far, and this one is for sure legit. Classes are well structured, and the instructors all care about the students. There's some young beasts in there along with some old heads, which is cool. I'm still a white belt (beginner) and it's been a comfortable experience training with everyone. SMT does muay thai in the same building, so if you want to do some striking they got you covered. Good times!

A+ environment. CQBJJ has assembled a great team of coaches with different experience levels and approaches on instruction. I had my first class with Coach/Owner Rich and he erased all doubts I had about joining. He was very personable, passionate and had extensive knowledge. Class is always done in a way that any and all who enter will leave improving their fitness, confidence and of course, jiu jitsu. I have been training for about 6 years. I just recently made a move to begin training at CQ and I couldn't be happier. This is an outstanding gym. I’ve known Rich for quite sometime and he’s always been very passionate about what he teaches. He’s very personable, always checking up on his clients/staff, and always willing to more than the bare minimum. You can feel a strong sense of family among members from the moment you walk in. Amazing place, super friendly, good people, very encouraging, flexible schedule and private lessons available. Great place to just workout if you want that while learning self defense. This is also an amazing place if you want to get into Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu jitsu competitively. I highly recommend. I’ve been to plenty of gyms to know a good one when I see one.
