Walking through these doors at 53 was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After taking a private lesson at Hassett's, I rearranged my schedule so I could make their classes, and it has been absolutely worth it. I often reflect on how lucky I was to have Hassett’s be the first school I decided to try out. I could tell right away this school was legitimate. Not to mention the classes are a lot of fun. One thing that surprised me is how much interest the instructors and other black belts take in your progress and success. I remember competing as a white and blue belt, and having multiple instructors spending their Saturday coaching us during our matches. Training here is really like being a part of a team. You’ll come for the jiu jitsu and stay for the camaraderie.

The environment is very family friendly. My kids started in the kids program 7 years ago, and I can’t say enough good things about it. My kids learned great self defense techniques and more importantly self confidence. I also started 7 years ago with no experience at all. The students here were so welcoming & friendly to me. I grew up in South Jersey and met John Hassett at a very young age. I came through both the kids and adult programs at Hassetts Jiu Jitsu and in addition to fantastic martial arts education, I was able to have a safe and fun environment to learn and grow in. We checked out a couple jiujitsu schools for our son before choosing Hassett’s. The instructors are very good with kids, it’s always fun while learning a lot at the same time. I personally really love the fact that so many moms and dads also take classes there.
There are many purple belts and above to roll with for street combatives and sport bjj. The instructor, John Hassett, is a high level black belt and a true marital artist in all aspects of life, self defense, and sport.
Staff is great, not at all intimidating as you might think of a martial arts school. Very flexible classes. Students are friendly too. Highly recommended.
Cant begin to say how impressed I am with Hassetts!! My son started a few weeks ago and was very nervous but excited. He spent the first 20 minutes with JP who completely relaxed him. He was instantly accepted by everyone in the school . One of the best things I have seen is when they pair up if the higher belts see newer people pair up they instantly go over and split them up and work with them so they are learning correctly. I highly recommend Hassetts
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Not only is it a solid place to train but I’ve met so many welcoming people who have become great friends over the years. The staff is very straightforward and honest with a very no nonsense attitude, while also keeping the classes humorous and enjoyable. Great for anybody of any age. I was hesitant to try at first but from the beginning, they were very welcoming and made me feel like I had been there for ages. Highly recommend if you’re thinking about starting jiu jitsu!
I came back over three years ago and enjoy the atmosphere of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Classes are taught on basic fundamentals of the Gracie’s self defense program.

Mr. Hassett and all his black belt instructors are top notch. They are all enthusiastic about the art and thoroughly enjoy teaching not only the history of BJJ, but the fundamentals and advanced Jiu Jitsu. They create a competitive, but family atmosphere where everyone competes hard, but in the end we all shake hands and truly want each person to be better practitioner . Great place to train. Approaching three years as a member and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hassett's. Having trained at numerous other schools prior to joining, I can speak with absolute certainty on not only the quality of instruction, but on the overall quality of training you get.
