Could not recommend this place higher if I tried. Jason Claunch is both a phenomenal person and jiujitsu instructor, always wanting the very best for each of his students. Set in a welcoming family environment with loads of mat space, classes are always fun and challenging with people of all ages and experience levels. No matter your goal when you first walk in, you can rest assured everyone will support and celebrate with you as you reach it. Come give it a try, you’ll be glad you did!

Jason Claunch is a wonderful instructor/coach. Great fundamental techniques! I’ve been with Claunch Jiu jitsu Academy for about 6 years. It’s such a great atmosphere with wonderful people who I am proud to call Teammates and friends! It’s a great place for anyone ready to start their Jiu jitsu Journey.

TLDR: As a member of the over 40 club, I'm living proof that it's never too late to start training in BJJ! With zero experience and a whole lot of skepticism, I joined Claunch Academy of BJJ last December (12/23) as part of my mid-life crisis - best decision ever. If you're thinking of trying BJJ, don't let age hold you back! The Good Stuff: I've been attending Claunch Academy for about 9 months now, and I can honestly say it's one of the most supportive and welcoming communities I've ever been a part of. Unlike some gyms where people are more interested in "win at all costs" than actually helping you learn, everyone here genuinely cares about your progress and is always willing to break things down for you. Whether you're 20 or 40 (or older!), there's a place for Claunch Academy - they've got a great mix of ages and skill levels, all working together towards the same goal. The Details & Extras: For those interested in specifics, Claunch Academy offers both gi classes (Tuesday, Thursday, and half of Sunday) and no-gi classes (Wednesday, Friday, and the other half of Sunday). The training is undoubtedly intense - I felt like vomiting after my first couple classes (although that probably speaks about my general lack of health)! - but if you can stick with it, the rewards are well worth it (and you quickly get used to the pace). Further, if you ever need to sit out a round, it's judgement free and you can jump back in whenever ready. They've also got a deep bench of black belts and multi-striped black belts - I won't pretend to fully appreciate their expertise, but it's reassuring to know that we're in good hands! Plus, as an affiliate of Team Brasa, Claunch Academy has a "drop-in" relationship with Mario Esfiha Brazilian Jiu Jitsu up the street, so if you need more classes or different times (or a change of scenery), there are options available. I've heard great things from teammates who've taken advantage of this partnership - it's just another perk of being part of the Claunch Academy community!

Great group of people here! Training is amazing. If you’re on the fence about starting BJJ, I recommend you try it out at Claunch Academy. The instructors here are very knowledgeable and train in a safe manner. Whether you’re starting in your 40s or starting as a teenager, this is the spot to be!

Jason Claunch's experience and expertise as a professor of this art is unparalleled across the board. Upon entering the academy, and as a complete novice, I began to learn much more about my strengths, weaknesses, problem solving, and mindset. As challenging as it could be at first, Jason and his team will equip and engage you, to learn at the pace you desire.
