Came here on a whim as a last-ditch effort to find some grappling in Indy. Did grappling in college, but with COVID and moving around for work, it'd been a while since I had been in a room where I could train well and enjoyed the team environment. Ian immediately met me with "welcome home brother." Since then, I've made lots of friends and trained with many amazing coaches full of knowledge. Here are specifics for folks considering the gym: - There are a range of athletes/fitness levels, all are welcome wherever you are in your journey. Whether that's getting in shape, having fun, or pro athlete/fighter. - The coaches here study contemporary metas for MMA, grappling, and wrestling. And they study how to teach. If you come to class wanting to learn, you're going to pick up skills faster than you think, and it's going to be the techniques that work at the highest levels! - There are numerous coaches who go to competitions with their athletes. And they will have studied your rolls/know your game and how to best support you as an individual athlete. - The classes offered are growing in number, helpful for different working schedules - It's not one of those "don't ask an upper belt to roll with you" schools. As someone from a judo background who appreciates a certain level of structure and formalities, I'm happy to trade all that stuff (and it's more toxic excessive versions) for a team of respectful athletes and coaches who work hard, but are genuinely friendly, and frankly, very goofy off the mats. I'm grateful I strolled into CCMAF and it's been one of the best things about moving to Indy. Definitely stop in for some free trial classes and you might find yourself saying the same thing!

I cannot recommend Circle City Martial Arts & Fitness enough! Home to 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Indianapolis, this gym has been a fantastic experience for both my sons and I. The community and culture here are nothing short of amazing. Everyone is incredibly supportive, positive, and genuinely cheers you on in every step of your journey. Whether you’re training for competitions or just looking to grow at your own pace, this gym strikes the perfect balance between being competition-focused and offering a relaxed, approachable training environment. The students and instructors are highly skilled, educated, kind, and humble, making every session both challenging and enjoyable. A huge shoutout to Ian Pomfret, the head coach, whose expertise and leadership make the adult classes an incredible experience. Ian fosters a learning environment that is both challenging and welcoming, pushing students to be their best while creating a space where everyone feels included. Additionally, a special shoutout to Alex, the children’s coach, who is one of the most patient and composed instructors I’ve ever seen in action. He has an incredible gift for working with kids of all ages, from 6 to 15, helping them grow not only in skill but also in confidence and character. The kids’ classes are phenomenal, offering an amazing opportunity for children to thrive in a supportive and uplifting environment. I wholeheartedly encourage all moms to give jiu-jitsu a try themselves and enroll their kids—especially daughters! The benefits of this martial art are truly life-changing, from self-discipline and confidence to physical fitness and self-defense skills. If you’re looking for a gym that offers world-class instruction, a welcoming community, and a chance to grow as part of something special, Circle City Martial Arts & Fitness is the place for you. Don’t hesitate to check it out!

Have been going here since I was 18 years old! Haven’t been around as of late but still one of the best all around gyms to train at! Especially if you are near the downtown area
