Awesome place to train! Super friendly for beginners and plenty of advanced grapplers for folks that have been training longer. Looking forward to coming back next time I’m in town.
Sensei Paul cares deeply about the character development of his judo players. Yes, he wants them to perform to their potential physically, but first and foremost is character.
Our boys have been attending for a few seasons now and really enjoy learning judo. It’s been super helpful for our oldest- a great confidence builder and excellent athletic conditioning. Paul is a very patient Sensei and a truly gifted teacher.
Absolutely incredible facility. Trained Striking, Judo, Ju jit su, wrestling, etc .... 10 / 10. Anderson Silva was taking people out with flying knees left and right when I started training. This place is a FAMILY. Absolutely incredible. They'll always greet you by your name. I can confirm you're not just another person when you join this place. You are part of a FAMILY that does nothing but support you, help you defend yourself, and overcome challenges you never thought possible. This place is truly special.
A great place for kids to come exercise; learn discipline, respect, and self-defense; and make friends. There are several opportunities to attend during the week--whether for 1-hour classes, fight night (1-1/2 hours), youth judoku (1 hour), competitions, or pizza/Nerf night fundraiser (1-1/2 hours and $25 extra). Sensei Paul is very good with the kids, especially if they are having a rough time, and he makes the exercises fun. I am amazed at how he can remember everyone's name! Uniforms cost $50 to $75, the monthly fee is $125.00, and there is an extra fee each time you compete in a tournament. Considering you are allowed to come up to 4 times a week (once you learn the basics), it is well worth the money. Parking can be a little difficult to find, especially if you arrive late. There is no air conditioning in the summer, but the doors are open, and there are usually two industrial fans blowing. You will find plenty of chairs for adults to sit in. Restrooms are available.
Great place for my son to learn Judo. He always has fun and is really enjoying the sport!
Been taking my kid there for over 2 years. Amazing place to bring your kids to learn discipline and Judo. Fantastic Sensei makes you feel part of his Judo family.
Sensei Paul is the man! It’s amazing how well the training you provide carries over into other sports, school and life in general. Thank you for all that you have done for our kids.
My son has been taking judo at Chu To Bu for 7 years, since he was 10. It has been a great experience for him. Sensei Paul runs a great class and is always really supportive and positive. Highly recommended!
Such a fantastic place for kids of all ages! The atmosphere is so positive and the amount of strength and discipline learned by the children is phenomenal! Absolutely recommend for children in any athletic capacity!! Also. Adult classes are available and equally as supportive and effective!
Love this for my preschooler! The discipline along with moving/strength/learning with others is so great for his never ending energy and development. Sensei Paul is so good with the kids and makes them all feel comfortable and confident.
Great place to learn and practice judo/jiu jitsu. Excellent instructor, very supportive community of students, great facility.
Focus, respect, discipline and confidence. These are the core values that are being taught first and foremost in my son’s judo class. Sensei Paul and his team of teachers have experience and passion that they’re passing on to our children. We absolutely love Chu To Bu Brasa.
It’s been a great experience watching my son train and enjoy every class with Sensei Paul!
Best dojo in all of Ohio love going here, and everyone is really helpful and friendly. Paul is awesome and you will love your time here.
Great gym, dedicated sensei. Very friendly atmosphere.
Love it. Sensei Paul is the best with the kids keeping them engaged and focused as well as teaching then great skills for life!!!
We came here specifically for the Judo week and a half long camp because this place is awesome. Now these guys stew Judo jujitsu and overall fitness and exercise so it’s more than just a martial arts gym. But make no mistake it is one of the most awesome martial arts gyms around. Just out of the girls this place has the number two and number for ranked in the nation top female judo players that my kids got to go against today. Also helping teach this camp is going to be a Judo AlterNet for the Olympic games which is awesome. The owner of this Jim Paul Jordan is one of the most down to earth realistic great people walking the planet. Just sitting in there for 15 minutes watching part of the camp at the end of the day I got to see beautiful foot sweeps and wonderful throws. If you are in the northern Ohio region you should definitely do yourself a favor and check out this facility it is top notch
We put our 8 year old son in this class for many reasons but mainly because he was getting shy due to COVID. It has helped our son tremendously! It’s helped his overall well being and for that we are so grateful. Thank you Sensei Paul! But I like to call him The Great Sensei Paul. There’s a reason his class is so full. Sensei Paul is so wonderful with the kids from discipline, to confidence and of course, mad Judo skills!
Sensi Paul n his team are GREAT!!!!! His place has helped my son in so many other aspects .
Can't say enough about the environment and community that Sensei Paul has created here. From small kids (little Samurai's) to Adult fitness classes Sensei Paul does an excellent job of teaching, helping, and motivating to help everyone achieve their goals and reach their potential. I highly recommend taking your kids of whatever age, taking a fitness class, or getting into an adult Jiu Jitsu or Judo class.
I could not recommend this in Judo School enough. It teaches your kids a lifelong skill. I’ll admit that at first both of my boys were nervous to attend and now they are excited for each and every class. Paul is a fantastic instructor and he’s great with the kids
Sensei Paul is a remarkable teacher. We started our kids in judo when they were 4 and have been at his dojo for 4 years. My husband is a student of judo and jujitsu with high level instruction. All the staff are well trained , are excellent with the kids. Creating well rounded, respectful, hard working kids with integrity takes a village and we are grateful for the ChuTuBu family.
Great school, great atmosphere, and great teaching!
Thank you Paul for a great training session. Excellent BJJ practice, nice people, great instruction. Thanks again for having me!
Took my boy here for a trial class and the way Paul runs the youth classes was great. He was very professional since our first contact thru emails and text, very prompt. I love the morals he teaches the kids as well. Glad we came here and our son is now a student of Sensi Paul. Thanks Adam!!
Chu To Bu always welcomes me with the love and desire. Teaches you self-discipline, behavior, actions and Judo skills. This place also helps to raise champs with bright future and potentially talented judokas no matter of the age, size, race or Language.
We (me and my four children) became part of Chu To Bu Brasa a year and a half ago, right after we moved to Ohio. I have heard about Sensei Paul, while I lived in North Carolina. My Sensei and other people who knew how important Judo is in my life advised me to make sure I join this particular club because it is best Judo club in Ohio. After first conversation with Sensei Paul, over the phone, before we officially met, I realized why they recommended him. Since day one at the club until now it feels as family. Children’s judo program is exceptional and those who are serious about learning Judo are at the best place to accomplish it. Both Sensei Paul and Sensei Lorey as well as Sensei Ryan have a lot to offer and are great example of keeping the fine line between teaching children in a disciplined setting and having fun while doing so.
Great place to train! Great Instructors!
Paul has created a program based on respect and dignity. There is a level of discipline that is appropriate to each individual child. A great blend of fun, learning, and discipline.
Chu to Bu is amazing! My daughter has been there for over a year and loves it! Sensei Paul and his staff are caring, compassionate teachers who know how to engage the kids and keep them in line! The community at the dojo is like a family!
The men's fitness class and boot camp classes are fun and challenging for teens through adults. A very friendly gym that caters to all fitness levels.
Sensei Paul and his team have been so incredible with our son teaching him both jujitsu and judo- he loves it!
The gym has a great atmosphere, especially for someone who wants to learn more about Martial arts, but knows very little about Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. Paul and the rest of the instructors are very inviting, knowledgeable and will push you to be the best. Paul will push you during the workouts and make sure that you seize the day.
Great place for both kids and adults to train and get in shape!
We are so happy that our son is learning manners, respect, responsibility, good healthy exercises, and confidence. Sensei Paul is a great leader for our son as he is learning a new sport.
Sensei Paul and all the instructors at Chu To Bu are just great. Full of knowledge and always willing to help out. I feel lucky to have found them when I moved to Ohio 5 years ago.
My kids have been going to Chu To Bu for years and love it. Sensei Paul and staff are amazing with the kids! Plenty of special events outside of class to help build community and friendships as well. Great value.
Clean gym, good coach, nice owner
It's ok. Its a clean place to train. Instructor is ok claims to be judo black belt. Most blue belts in the gym are 2 stripe white belts. The purple belts are really blue belts the most doesn't lie. Also they normally all start from the ground when live training. They also have about 3 female black belts in their mid 20s so.. they must be really good idk.
