Joining Jimmy Tat's Checkmat Jiu Jitsu gym has been one of the best decisions I've made. Jimmy is exceptionally knowledgeable, with a deep understanding of jiu jitsu that is evident in every class. His expertise not only covers the technical aspects of the sport but also the philosophy and discipline that come with it. He has a unique ability to break down complex moves into understandable steps, making learning both accessible and enjoyable. What truly sets this gym apart, though, is the sense of community. From day one, I felt welcomed and part of a family. The camaraderie among the members is incredible. Everyone, regardless of their skill level, supports each other and fosters an environment of mutual respect and encouragement. This supportive atmosphere makes it a joy to train here, and it’s clear that Jimmy’s leadership plays a crucial role in cultivating this positive culture. In summary, if you're looking for a place to train jiu jitsu where the instructor is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely cares about his students, and where you can be part of a warm, family-like community, Jimmy Tat's Checkmat gym is the perfect choice.

This place is literally my second home! 😅 I have been training here for almost 2 years and is the best that could happened to me. It is friendly for everybody for people that want to do it as a hobbie, personal defense, competitor, for kids. Jimmy is the best professor and always helping people improve their jiu jitsu. Come and try a 1 month free trial people normally sign after a week of coming 😅

Checkmat Corona BJJ is a great place to learn jujitsu. The people there are welcoming, humble, and respectful. I haven't had any issues. Didn't know what to expect, having it being my first time learning this art but professor Jimmy is a awesome instructor and down to earth. I recommend that you check out this place for yourself. The pricing is more competitive/affordable than other BJJ places.
