I came to CG about 10
months into my blue belt and they have definitely helped me with my bjj game. The instructors are amazing and the diversity of their styles will help about anyone who walks in the door wanting to level up. Professor Andre and Professor Lucas are both high level competitors and if competing is your thing you will advance with them on your corner. If you are coming into this as a hobbyist you will also reap those benefits. The community is great too. Nothing but professionalism and support. An abundance of classes from morning, noon and several evening classes will always satisfy your need for more jiujitsu. One of the best schools in the DFW. Come and roll with us.
Cancelled all other kids activists and my 4 and 6 year olds are both thriving and loving their new Jiu Jitsu routine. The coaches are top tier, athletic and super patient - there’s been atleast 4 coaches per class which helps keep the little kids on track. We’ve done taekwondo and karate, this has by far been the most engaging and physically challenging. They don’t let the kids slide but they do it with positivity. Really impressed so far, I can see my kids improving.
My 6 year old Daughter and my 11 year old son have been coming here for a few months now and both of them love it! The coaches are very patient with all the kids but also stern which I love. They help the kids become more confident as well as disciplined. The facilities are top notch and well maintained and the staff is amazing. Everyone is very welcoming and make the environment feel comfortable.
My 4.5 year old daughter has been going for 6 months. Everyone is super supportive. She loves it, has made lots of friends, and wants to go all the time.
As a former collegiate wrestler I was very picky about where I wanted my son (4) to study. After reading the reviews of others and the profiles on the instructor’s I had a great feeling about this location. Since day 1 my experience here has greatly surpassed any expectations. Not only are the instructors talented, focused, and motivated, they are excellent at teaching the art of Brazilian jujitsu. My son loves coming to learn and the environment here is more than just about grappling. They focus on child development, discipline, and respect. I know that my son has found his gym and I couldn’t be more excited to watch him grow and develop under such fantastic leadership.
Absolutely love this school for my daughter. The coaches are amazing and very patient with all the kids. This place has given her the best confidence boost and the environment is very welcoming! ☺️
My daughter recently started training in Jiu-Jitsu back in July, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the impact it has had on her. From the very first class, I noticed a shift in her confidence and enthusiasm. The environment is incredibly welcoming, with skilled and supportive instructors who are dedicated to helping every student grow.
One of the biggest benefits has been watching her develop not only physically but mentally. Jiu-Jitsu challenges her to think strategically, work on her coordination, and develop resilience. She has become more focused and disciplined, both on and off the mat.
The camaraderie among the students is another highlight. The friendships she’s made have been an added bonus, and it’s wonderful to see her so engaged and supported by her peers.
I’m also very reassured knowing that the self-defense skills she’s learning are practical and empowering. She’s gaining more than just fitness—she’s learning techniques that can be used in real-life situations, and that peace of mind is invaluable.
As a parent, I couldn’t recommend Jiu-Jitsu enough. It has been such a positive influence in my daughter’s life, helping her build confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of community.
Great school! I absolutely love how patient and amazing the professor and coaches are, specially with children or newcomers. If I could I would give them more 🌟 stars!
Visited Carlson Gracie- DFW from Carlson Gracie- El Paso while on vacation . Professor Andre Gomes welcomed me and treated me like one of his own. Great, clean, and fun environment. I definitely recommend anyone who lives in or is visiting the DFW area to stop by. Thanks again for allowing me to train with you all and congrats on the new gym.
I stopped in for a seminar they were hosting. Camila and Professor Andre were very welcoming. They have a very nice facility and a great group of students to train with.
Gracie is such a welcoming environment! The staff and students embody an encouraging and positive group that is committed to helping one another grow.
The classes are offered through the day so finding a time that fits my busy schedule is made easy.
My son also attends classes and looks forward to every practice! If you’re looking to get started or already have experience, these classes have something for everyone.
I joined Carlson Gracie BJJ back in 2021 not knowing what to expect and just wanting to learn self defense. I had been looking for a place to learn self defense classes in the DFW for months and was unable to find the right place… as a woman, the concept of learning self defense seemed a bit intimidating.
The first time I contacted Carson Gracie school to learn more about their program, I felt very welcomed by Camila who answered all my questions and concerns before doing the free trial they were offering at the time.
The first day I visited the school I immediately felt the “family environment” and that made me feel very safe. The teaching style made me feel like I was learning practical and useful skills. I met tons of new people who became my friends, they encouraged me through my learning journey. At this school, I learned self confidence and I learned courage, by facing my fears. I never thought I would push myself in this way and it’s through my confidence gained at Carson Gracie, that I routinely test myself by competing in World League competitions. The school has become more than a place for me to train, rather it has become a home and it’s students (my friends) have become an extension of my family.
I am forever grateful for Professor Andre and the coaches, Gary and Jim, who motivate me, push me, and support me as I grow each time I step on the training mat.
I highly recommend this Jiu Jitsu school to anyone looking in the DFW and look forward to train in their new location at the beginning of next year in The Colony/Lewisville! OSS!
My first grader has enjoyed training at Carlson Gracie Carrollton for about 10 month now. He wants to train every day. Professor Gomes, and the coaches, are focused on making sure every class is a great experience for the kids. This place has a family atmosphere. They care. My son is learning. I am so glad we found this amazing school.
Carlson Gracie Carrollton is fantastic! The instructors are skilled and welcoming, the facilities top-notch, and the focus on personal growth is inspiring. It’s perfect for beginners and experienced practitioners. Highly recommended for anyone interested in jujitsu or self defense!
Coach Patricia and Professor Andre were both so engaging and especially patient with the kids' beginners Jiu Jitsu class. Camila was also so responsive any time we needed anything. They went above and beyond to help our daughter learn and enjoy class!
I wanted to share what a positive impact my time at Carlson Gracie (formerly Gracie Barra) has been on my life. I have always had an interest in Jiu Jitsu, but felt intimidated getting started. Although I played sports, I had no martial arts experience prior to starting. After the birth of my son and maintaining a stressful job, I knew I needed a outlet for stress. I finally decided to give it a try.
Professor Andre, Camila, Patricia, and Gary all were so welcoming from the moment that I first walked into the gym. I tried one other gym before Carlson Gracie and it was night and day the difference in atmosphere. You can tell that everyone at CG is passionate about BJJ and the positive impact it can have on your life.
One aspect of the gym I really want to emphasize and was unexpected was the social element. I can truly say that I feel like I have bonded with many of the other members and have made many friends through jiu jitsu. The culture is very encouraging and fun and it is not uncommon for people to stick around after class to talk and have a good laugh together. Before starting, (based on stories I read online about BJJ in general) I was concerned about more advanced students engaging in intimidation or hazing practices. I am happy to say at CG the complete opposite is true. The more advanced students have clearly had good training and go out of their way to make people feel welcomed and to teach to your ability.
Professor Andre, Patricia, and Gary are all actively competing which means they are at the top of their game. Professor Andre was been ranked in the top three nationally for his weight class (something I didn't know until I got started). Despite this, they treat everyone who walks in with dignity, respect, and care. The coaches are very attentive, focused, and dedicated to helping you be the best you can be no matter your size or athletic ability. During warm ups, drilling, and rolling they are enthusiastic, excited, and incredibly perceptive concerning giving precise feedback that can help you improve. You can tell considerable thought goes into maintaining a culture that mixes fun and competitiveness which really makes you want to keep getting better.
In addition to the culture, training, and atmosphere being top notch, this is also a great option for getting into shape. Over the course of four months I lost about 30 pounds from going to train consistently. I can honestly say at age 37 I am likely in the best shape of my life in terms of cardio and flexibility. This is not something I thought I would ever say as I was nearing 40.
Concerning the facilities, the gym is very clean and you can tell great care goes into maintaining a professional and sanitary atmosphere. I have never been concerned about cleanliness and compared to others gyms I have visited while out of town, this was by far the most well maintained. Personally, I find this element to be important as it adds a level of comfort to the setting.
Professor Andre makes a point to say that the gym is a family and thats what it feels like. The training is great and it really makes you appreciate the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I look forward to going to the gym everyday. I cannot recommend Carlson Gracie of Carrollton enough!
Happy to have found a CG school in the Dallas area. Professor Andre is very knowledgeable and friendly and has great attention to detail. His instruction is suitable for all levels and the students are friendly and welcoming. Very clean gym with lots of space as well. I will definitely be back soon.
My 4 year old and I are having a great experience here! He’s new and started a couple months ago. Profesor and coaches have been amazing, they do a wonderful job blending discipline and fun.
Great place to train. Professor Gomes and Gary are amazing instructors. They are very patient and caring with an out of shape 54 year old like me.
Camila runs the office and is amazing.
When I came in to the trial class, the staff and students immediately made me feel at home and like I was already part of the group.
If you're out of shape or have been doing jiu jitsu for years, come in for a trial class. You will love being there.
I highly recommend Carlson Gracie jiu jitsu in Carrollton.

Super recommended by me!

Depois de 10 anos parado, voltar é dureza! Ainda mais com essa galera que ja vi que tem um nível massa! Indicando muito aos que estiverem procurando um lugar aqui na região pra treinar! Galera simpatica, mas, treino duro! Bom demais!
I am a student here under professor Andre. The environment here is amazing. The professor and the coaches do an amazing job in making sure everyone is learning and having a good time.
After a year
This place is the way to go if you want a fun and friendly environment to learn. The training is tough but the results you get are amazing. Everyone pushes themselves hard and wants to learn from mistakes. The higher belts don't mind explaining your mistakes to you.
Over 2 years and still going strong. Amazing location and Staff.
Experience: This is an amazing gym for what ever level of bjj you wish to achieve from hobbyist to competitor. Professor Andre will push you to achieve all of your goals. The atmosphere is top notch. There are no egos or attitudes on the mats. Everyone is friendly whether it is your first day or 5th year.
Staff: Professor Andre is amazing! He is very detailed in his explanation of the techniques and makes sure everyone is on the same page before he moves on. Mrs. Camilla is an awesome program director. She keeps the school informed on multiple fronts via emails, texts, and in person. She is always ready to assist with any questions you may have. Coach Gary is a phenomenal coach for both kids and adults. He takes time to help demonstrate techniques and makes sure all the students understand. The newest addition Coach Patricia is taking the team to a whole new level. She is already pushing us to be better as individuals and as a team.
I came from out of town and usually train with another gym but this was the closest bjj gym for me. The family environment in this gym is unmatched. Everyone treats everyone with the upmost respect, I’ll be sad to leave this gym but they will forever be apart of my journey.
My wife and I have been attending classes at Carlson Gracie Carrollton for the past month and a half and have LOVED it!!! The comradery, mentorship, training, and friendship is unmatched. Making a point to ensure all students get the guidance they need, the staff is both experienced and personal. Everyone makes a point to know you by name and intentionally guides you in your BJJ journey. If you're looking to start BJJ or just searching for a new gym, look no further than Carlson Gracie BJJ in Carrollton!
My husband and I started BJJ about a month ago. With this being our first time trying any form of martial arts, we were a little nervous. However, we have had nothing but an incredible experience. Professor Andre is awesome! The coaches, staff, and teammates are what truly make this an incredible gym to go to. No matter what level or experience you may have. If you’re looking for a good workout that has real life applications all while having a good time, I’d definitely recommend joining Carlson Gracie.
My 8 year old son and I have training here for about a year. Professor Gomes, Camilla and Coach Gary have developed an amazing family environment that keeps you coming back. Highly recommended for all ages!
Great coaching from Professor Andre and the other students are great to roll with. Definitely high intensity but everyone is very respectful and fun as well!
The school is amazing! I Really recommend if you are in Dfw area should stop by.
Professor Andre and all team are amazing.
Great environment.
Thank y’all
So I was obviously quite intimidated before I went into my first lesson, I almost didn’t, that would have been a poor decision on my part. Everyone was encouraging, supportively and patient. I highly recommend trying this place out, I personally am very pleased I did.
This has been by far one of the best gyms I’ve ever joined in my life. When I initially moved to Texas, I trialed at three or four different places before I decided on Gracie Barra Carrolton and it was by a landslide. I would rather drive 30 minutes back and forth, four times a week from Denton to Carrollton, than go anywhere else. Inclusive, safe, and respectful, Professor Andre, Camila, and Gary do a fantastic job of holding to the mantra of “Jiu-Jitsu For Everyone.”
Lots of great things happening over at GB Carrollton! Came back after a year off due to pandemic. I was pleasantly surprised with all of the school improvements! 10/10 definitely recommend!!!
Visiting the area and stopped in for a couple rounds. Amazing experience with the coaches and team. Hospitality was phenomenal. Always a great feeling after training Jiu-Jitsu.

Great community and an amazing way to challenge yourself physically and mentally! Shoutouts to Professor Andre and Gary
The professor here is top notch. I've been here almost a year now after first trying a bunch of local gyms. His competition record speaks for itself in terms of his skill, but he does a great job transferring that wealth of knowledge to his students. The other members are extremely friendly, and it has a really great gym environment conducive to learning and making friends.

The best school in the world !
Professor Andre is Fantastic !
Very good school to learn discipline and how to listen and follow directions. Professor André does really good with new students to make sure they learn the proper way and succeed!
I train at GB New Mexico. I dropped in to this location for a couple of nights of training while I was visiting Dallas for work. Professor Andre, the front desk and all the students were welcoming and friendly. Made me feel right at home and I got to get some great training with a team of KILLERS at GB Carrollton. Stop by and take a class. You won't regret it.

Great school and top-tier, easy to understand instruction.
As a parent, we all want the best for our kids. We want them to be kind but also know how to defend themselves if needed. After a month of having enrolled my 4yr old here I am more and more convinced that this was one of the best investments I could make for his self esteem and awareness once he takes off on his own. The professor here is patient and knowledgeable and the class is has been an excellent experience all around. I definitely recommend this place for kids and adults!!
I'm very happy and fortunate to have met the individuals that I have at this gym. not only do the guys at Gracie Barra have a very structured class. Which is exactly what I needed in getting back in to the art, Coach Wolfgang's way of teaching keeps you engaged and wanting to learn more. Over all I'm very happy to have found this gym and to have made it my launching pad back into BJJ.
GB Carrollton and their teachers are top notch! The coaches work to bring out the best in you while teaching great skills for both the mat and everyday life.
Absolutely the BEST coaches (Coach Adrian, Coach David, Coach Israel) hands down, my daughter is developing self discipline, confidence, and endurance.

Great people, great execise and the discipline of a martial art
Love this place, Love the members, Love the Instructors and really appreciate the communication in relation to the programs, billing and operations. Highly recommend!
Gracie Barra Carrollton has been a great gym for me to train at and the people there have become my family. Every time I show up, I walk into a warm welcome and have people who I know will help me become a better martial arts trainer. The atmosphere at Gracie Barra Carrollton is truly one of the best communities I have ever been apart of. I would definitely recommend this place.
I've been in martial arts for over 25 years off and on, and this is one of the better schools when it comes to instructors and students when it comes to patience, respect and effectiveness. I can train not only self defense, but true bjj ground game. Highly recommend this school.
Awesome! From out of town and they treated me like it was my home gym. Took the time to learn my name on the first class and greeted me that way all week. If you are just getting into martial arts start here .
Awesome instructors they really take the time to explain the correct technique. Also very friendly environment, Great place, world class training and awesome people, can't get better than this. So what are you waiting for? Get in there and learn some Jiu Jitsu! 🥋😀
Positive, uplifting training that sharpens your mind and body. Any person, any size can train here and go from fundamentals to competition ready with consistency. Very welcoming gym, I’ve been here 3 months; lost body fat, gained technique and new friends-
One of the Best gyms in north texas, Whether you here to learn self defense, get a workout, or even to compete, the instructors go above and beyond for you. No egos amongst the students, everyone is friendly and welcoming.
This academy is amazing! The entire staff are very welcoming, helpful, and are really invested in everyone having a positive experience and, most of all, improving. It is really refreshing to go to a martial arts school that actually follows a training curriculum, rather than the usual, “Let’s see..... we’ll do this today.” Expect to work hard every class, and feel great after!

Great place to learn self defense and good discipline for the kids
I visited Gracie Barra jujitsu today and had a great experience ! the trainer was very professional as he explained the classes with details he even guided me to a one on one class and felt very welcomed. I’m so ready to join and start taking jujitsu classes !
I joined Gracie Barra to get back into shape, but what I got was whole lot more than that! The place has a very positive atmosphere as you walk through the door. You are greeted by smiling faces who are all there because they all enjoy BJJ. The coach and Professor are AMAZING guys. They are so professional and treats everyone from ages 3 - 60 with utmost respect. The students are all so polite and friendly,, all there to learn from each other. I can't say enough about how great this place is. Even only after 5 classes, I feel like this is my second home. I recommend this place to anyone who is willing to take a step out of their comfort zone and learn a great self defense, sweat like crazy from exhaustion, and be around positive friendly people,
I've been to a couple of Gracie Barra locations in the Dallas area and so far this has been the best. The place is bright, as a nice location in terms of the facility inside, and the people here are really cool. The professor also explains things in a very detailed and structured manner which makes learning a better experience
Awesome place. Top class instruction. Warm and friendly environment. New students with no experience whatsoever will not regret taking that first step. If I’m almost 54 and I can do it, you can too!!!!!!c
I LOVE THIS PLACE...it's been seven months since I began my journey with GB Carrollton and Professor Valerio, and now also Coach Adrian...my health, confidence, and overall life has improved in more ways than I could have imagined. I turn 35 this week, and I feel as strong as my college days, confident in my ability to defend myself and my family, and have built some of the closest friendships in my life. I could go on, but instead I'll say this...if your curious about something new, an activity, a hobby, anything new, than do Brazilian Ju-Jitsu (BJJ) at GB Carrollton. -Grant
A very good, clean and great environment to learn BJJ. Instruction is top notch, facility is great and the team and students are very helpful and WANT you to be there. It's a great BJJ school!
They also offer kids classes, kids bully prevention and specific female self defense.
I was visiting home for the holidays and looking for a place to train.
Gracie Barra Carrollton was very welcoming and has great instruction. Additionally, the drop in fee was only $10 and they let you borrow a gi for free.
I would definitely train here again when I am in town!

Awesome instructors, very patient and knowledgeable. Clean beautiful building.
This is the best place to start learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The teachers are very welcoming, encouraging, knowledgable, and very good at breaking things down so that they are easy to understand. Everyone in the class has fun.
If you live or work in the North Dallas areas of Carrollton, Addison, Lewisville, The Colony, Richardson, Plano, and surrounding areas please come on down and sign up for a class. Whether it's for cardio, flexibility, core strengthening, weight loss, self defense or competition, you owe it to yourself to change your life for the better. I started with no experience to help me stop smoking and 7 months later I entered my first competition and came out a silver medalist. Under Professor Valerio and coach Eric, you will not lose!
Gracie Barra Carrollton is the best place to learn jiu-jitsu. Professor Valerio is an amazing instructor, and it is a wonderful environment for everyone of all ages!
Excellent school if you are looking for your first exposure to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or are looking for a change of pace from your current school. I visited 5 other schools in the area prior to committing here & I am elated with my choice.
This company is being ran by individuals that have no desire to teach, motivation nor transform anything but their own pockets. The lack of professionalism, and unconcerned behavior trickles down from the top directly to the staff, and trainers just rude, unprofessional, gossipy, and dishonest. Take your child and run!
