This is one of the nicest academy’s I’ve visited in California. I travel quite a bit for work and this is easily one of the coolest spots. The locations cool factor is only exceeded by the instructors. They were knowledgeable, warm and welcoming. If you’re looking for a place to start learning BJJ in Sacramento THIS is the place! Word to the wise…arrive early to snag a good parking spot.

Excellent instructors - Alfredo Atencio and others. Curriculum is well-organized, cutting-edge, and emphasizes high-level technique. Gym is incredibly warm and welcoming to newcomers and guests with a tight-knit group of regulars. Everyone is open to helping one another in a safe, focused, and disciplined environment. Great location right on H St corridor. Great range of class offerings from early morning to late evening...

I started right after the gym opened with no experience and not in the best shape. The training is strenuous exercise and the gym has a detailed "on-boarding" process where you will have 6 or 7 one on one lessons with coaches before you start taking classes with other members. It will help you feel comfortable with the basics if you're new to BJJ. Everyone at the gym is very friendly and the coaches are great.

I'm an adult new to BJJ and just started going here a few weeks ago. Alfredo led me through an incredible 1-1 introduction to BJJ prior to joining group sessions. I couldn't have asked for more. I really appreciate the vibe and positive environment. I'm excited to continue on this new journey here.

If you are thinking of giving Jiu-Jitsu a try or looking to get back on the mats consider stopping into Capital Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on H St. They have classes morning, noon and night (literally) during the week. Recently I stopped in for a 6:00 am class on my way to work, everything is easier after a morning on the mats. I have had the opportunity to train with the same talented instructors and teammates you will find there on any given day. If you are thinking about Jiu-Jitsu for self defense (They are a Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym, with an emphasis on self defense Jiu-Jitsu) or to stay/get in shape(Like me) this is a great place to go. It is a positive, safe atmosphere to step out of your comfort zone. Whether you have experience or are completely new to martial arts you will find the gym to be clean, the instructors to be knowledgeable and the students to be kind, patient and supportive. I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and glad I did with such a great group of people.
