I have spent the better part of twenty years here at Busto's Martial Arts, and in that time, it has truly become so much more than just a place to train—it’s become my second home. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I felt the warmth and dedication from Shihan John and his team of instructors. They have consistently shown not only an impressive depth of knowledge, but also genuine enthusiasm and an unwavering commitment to helping every student grow in skill, confidence, and character. When I transitioned from another school, it became immediately clear how Busto's Martial Arts sets itself apart. The sense of community is imminent the moment you walk in: the excitement for class to start, students encouraging each other both on and off the mat, and instructors that pour their hearts into every lesson. The curriculum is thoughtfully crafted to challenge students at each stage of their development, while also providing a supportive and family-like atmosphere where everyone can thrive. I’ve had the privilege and honor of teaching at Busto’s for the past thirteen years, and it’s been incredible to witness the same excitement in our students’ eyes that I remember having when I first started. From grasping the concept of a new technique or earning a new stripe on their belt, celebrating these achievements has been the most rewarding part of my journey. It is in moments like these that remind me every day why I fell in love with martial arts in the first place. Through countless classes, belt tests, and seminars, Busto’s has remained a place of consistent growth and inspiration for me. The friendships I’ve forged here go beyond the studio walls; we’ve shared wins, supported each other through challenges, and celebrated milestones as a close-knit community. Whether you come looking for fitness, self-defense, or a transformative new path, you’ll find that and so much more at Busto’s Martial Arts. It is a place where respect, discipline, and passion converge, shaping not just skilled practitioners, but well-rounded individuals ready to tackle anything life throws at them.

My transformative karate journey began when i was 7 but ended abruptly at 9. I had move to a different country. I was away for 7 years and somethings at the studio changed like the layout of stuff and things looked a little smaller, but everything else was the same. The sense of discipline and respect in the dojo hadn’t changed one bit. The Instructors’ knowledge and patience made complex techniques accessible again, just like they did the first time. The experience has been life-changing, and I am grateful for the skills and values I have acquired being a student as well as a teacher now.

I started my martial arts journey when I was just 6 years old, training in Taekwondo. However, by the time I was around 14, I felt it was time for a change and decided to pursue American Kenpo. That’s when I found Bustos Martial Arts, and I’m so glad I did. From my very first class, it was clear that this studio was different. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and they made me feel like I belonged right away. Transitioning from Taekwondo to American Kenpo could have been intimidating, but the incredible instructors at Bustos Martial Arts made it seamless. Their passion for teaching and their support for every student’s individual growth inspired me. In fact, not long after joining, I was given the opportunity to become an instructor myself. This experience taught me so much—not just about martial arts but also about leadership, discipline, and personal development. Bustos Martial Arts is more than just a place to learn self-defense. It’s a community that fosters respect, focus, and perseverance. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, this is the perfect place to grow. I cannot recommend them enough!

I started at Busto’s Martial Arts when I was 3 years old. I grew up at this place and it’s become a second home to me. I have spent a lot of time and I can say first hand it’s very warm and welcoming open to anyone that walks through their doors. After so many years of being a student at this great studio I have become a teacher. Everyone at Busto’s values your time and presence recognizing your needs. This studio means a lot to me and it has helped build me as a person and I highly recommend giving it a try. You’ll meet a ton of new friends and learn some self defense. Luca Faggiano
